Great Camera.....
My first new camera purchase since buying Olympus E520 14 years ago. Great camera, easy to learn (both RAW & JPEG).

It will make you better!
This is an update to my previous review. I still love this camera after two years of owning it! More than that, its made me a better photographer. Yes the image stabilization is super and love all the lenses. But Im a better photographer because I take it out more than I did my old Nikon system. The weight factor proved to be a bigger deal than I originally thought. Practice makes perfect is indeed true. Because my 5 Mark II is so light regardles... Show More

More than expected
I bought this camera as an unpgrade from an OMD EM 10. And Ive been surprised for the better. You may be tempt to consider it outdated (16 Megapixel/Micro 4/3 sensor in an full frame time) but it fullfill all the needs with beautiful pictures, its a joy to shoot, and its far small and light than the others.

Bulletproof
Ive had this camera for three years and it has been through everything - submerged for a few seconds in sea water, dropped off a table, through dust storms, rain, high humidity, oppressive heat, -10 cold and snow and it has yet to let me down. I used it for the solar eclipse and storm photography. It is versatile and I love the customization. The image stabilization is unreal.

SLOW
If youre taking landscape photos this camera is great. Photos are sharp. Size and weight are great also... nice and light. If youre taking a photograph of anything moving.... the shutter lag is soooooo slow you will have missed your shot!

Be Careful with the OMD EM5 MKII
I purchased this camera from B & H in July 2015. In July 2018, three years from purchase, the ON/OFF button stopped working, and the only way to turn the camera on or off was to remove the battery. Prior to this occurring, I was thoroughly happy with the camera. It was a joy to use. Obviously, the camera is outside warranty. I called Olympus Customer Service and was advised that regrettably, I would have to send the body in for repairs and pay th... Show More

Finally! 1980s OM-1 size is back!
After more than a decade of DSLR or similar type cameras, Olympus made their way back to their truly OM-1, 2, 3, 4 compact size with this camera, but it is so, so much more! I no longer miss the handling of my 1980s and 90s OM SLRs. I havent run it through all of the paces yet, but did take some pictures of the moon. Image magnification helps significantly to manual focus on the distant moon for bracket shots where I do not want to re-focus for ... Show More

Excellent image quality and very light/compact to use!
This was my switchover camera when I abandoned the DSLR system (Canon 5D Mark III) and it did not disappoint, given its compactness and highly impressive image quality. Here is my take on the pros and cons after 3.5 years of usage: Pros: + Very impressive still image quality rendered via Olympuss fabulous native lenses (75 f/1.8, 25 f/1.8, 12-40 f/2.8, 40-150 f/2.8) + Extremely compact and light to pack/carry + Great retro look, especially the si... not ready yet but...
So far everything in this camera looks good but I most likely shouldve gone with a mirror type. Also I find that the menus on this are so deep that I need to go into them everytime to make sure Ive got things set upcorrectlywhich takes too much time allowing that genius/award winning shot to get away! Granted I havent learned to set up the Fn keys correctly so they do what I want/need them to do. So its going to be a long learning process before I get this rig or any rig down right.

Design Flaw with Rotating Screen
I am an original owner of an OM-D E-M5 Mark II. Ive had the camera about 3.5 years. I used the camera without issue two weeks ago Saturday. The following day, the screen was dead. I disassembled the LCD screen today and found the issue. Its a clear design flaw. If the user always rotates the screen the same way (like I do), the rotating screen will twist the internal connecting cable that runs from the body to the screen. Continued twisting of th... A Superbly weighted and balanced camera
Once, I had too a problem with the screen going black. I discovered it was operator error; actually a software glitch. This was several months ago, but the best I can remember, it happened because of the lens choice vs. the menu setting. IE, either the lens was connected electrically (through the contact points) and the MENU setting was SHOOT W/O LENS....or else the problem was a with a non-electrical setup (like an old Nikon lens with an adapter... 2-years later? Still SUPER
I thought I'd update my review from 2 years ago because I'm more in love with this camera than ever! Although I still haven't mastered all its capabilities, I am still blown away by everything I can do with this camera. Fireworks with the live comp mode are outstanding. Took the camera and the 14-150 II to Niagara Falls. The weatherproofing of the camera and lens let me get up close and personal to the falls -- Maid of the Mist and Cave of the th... Show More

Nice so far.
I enjoy the light weight. Auto focus is fast. Hand held pictures with 14-150 lens are much better than what i would get with my older nikon 5300 with 70-300 lens. it is a very nice upgrade given my needs. i go birding with my daughter and this combo improved our ability to get a good exposure with details to help us identify some species that we only saw jumping around in a tree for a few seconds during migration birding this week. very happy exc... Mighty Mouse!
I have purchased the Olympus OM-D EM-5 Mark 2 (Good heavens, the name of the camera is too big to print it on its body!) in Australia about a year ago. The reason to buy it was the weight of my trusted Nikon D800 with all the accompanying accessories. I just can't carry that much any more so I needed something lighter. My first SLR ever was an Olympus OM10 and I remembered it so fondly that the choice of an Olympus camera was a no brainer. With t... Show More

Stop working after two years
It's a good camera and I like the size and image quality but after year and a half start with some problems. First, the time between you press the shutter and you take the picture starts to get too long, then the time to see the picture was super long. Later, some buttons stop working sometimes and the video start to become blurry. Now the on/off button doesn't work and I been forced to remove the battery because the camera remains turned on no matter what. The worst is that Olympus has no service in Chile. truly dissapointed.

Small Camera; Big Results
The OM-D E-M5 Mark II is a superb mirrorless camera system that is easy to use while providing the serious photographer with a reasonably priced opportunity to make professional grade images. It is hoped that Olympus continues to provide reasonably prices OM-D cameras to both amateur and professional photographers.

Wonderful camera with a seemingly steep learning curve
As with many of you, I decided to downsize from my FF gear to an ILC, for a myriad of reasons, but primarily due to logistics. While the Olympus M5 Mark II isnt as small as my Leica typ 109, it is easily manageable. My first micro four-thirds camera and I truly enjoy the challenge. The functions of this camera paired with a truly complex menu system are well worth the effort. I married the Mark 5 with the 12-40mm 2.8 lens in order to construct an... Show More

Worrisome purchase
I purchased this camera as a temporary replacement for my OM-D E-M1, which was the "flagship" camera for Olympus back when I bought it. The E-M1 is being repaired, as the shutter began to continually freeze, particularly working outdoors in moderately cool weather. I was really upset with this problem, which has been written about on a number of blogs and posts and apparently is an issue with the E-M1. My problem is that I have a lot of Olympus e... Show More

Don't be surprised
Don't be surprised if this camera does not work for you..size wise. I thought I could get comfortable using it with the grip but it just was too uncomfortable. With the grip, and depending on the size of your hand, the bottom right of it has a sharp 90 degree angle that will penetrate into the palm of your hand. the top right strap connector will also be int he way of your right index finger. Best ICL camera ever.
Best ICL camera I have owned in my 30+ years of photography. No more heavy DSLR & Lens and more importantly the IQ and other capabilities of this camera better than most DSLRs. Don't let anyone tell you that MFT sensors are inferior to full frame (unless you intend to print larger than 16X20. Who does that?)

Great Camera
Glad I chose this camera to get back into m4/3 photography. Once you master the menu layout, the camera is a joy to use. The hi-res capability is an added bonus. It's a shame the big boys of cameras don't offer anywhere the sane firmware capabilities. Add the 12-40mm f2.8 Pro lens and you have a great system.

A worthwhile upgrade to the original
An upgrade to the original E-M5 for me. I like the various tweaks that have been made to the original. The fully articulating screen took some getting used to, but now I would not want to do without it. Picture quality is superb, and the M4/3 format is so convenient. Nice selection of lenses for this format. I shoot the 12-40 f2.8 zoom most of the time, which covers the most usable range for me.
