Good lens for Sony A7 series
Pro- good price. I got it with the kit and uv filter on time. Take good pictures inside house or low light. Good bokeh I am happy with this lens because it very light, focus good and easy. Con: nothing a big deal, if you want to take pictures outside, you need a distance about at least 6 feet for the focusing.

Great Lens
This gear is especially good vs the price, I really used to make amazing photos and video, with a fast autofocus and nice sharpness, fully recommended!

Definitely worth the money
I read A bunch of bad reviews and I have to say I disagree completely its not necessarily great for video but for photo this nifty 50 is beautiful

Best lens for the price!
If you watch youtube or read in-depth reviews, you will see how this lens is not perfect. However, for the money, it is the best lens you will buy for your Sony E-mount Full frame. You will never second guess buying this lens, but it might make you second guess why you spent 4x - 8x as much for a very small increase in performance for a different 50mm.

Focus is an Issue
I like the size and functionality of the lens, BUT focus is an issue. With the lens attached and the camera on, the lens keeps moving, searching for focus. I consulted B and H techs and they said that is a characteristic of this lens and not a defect. Once I select a focus point and depress the shutter release, the lens finds focus and stops searching. And the resulting photo is sharp. Except for the searching issue, the lens is working well for me, and is quite light and compact.

Bang for the Buck
Great quality photo's for a great price. AF does make noise, but not so bad. Think SAM lens for Sony alpha type noise. Focus is faster than some would have you think as well. I am using the a7r3 and this lens is not bad to focus at all. No its not a $1000 zeiss, but the image quality you get from this compared to the zeiss would not justify paying 3x more. Its light and made of plastic. Big deal. It feels sturdy and the focus ring feels well damped. Not a bad lens at all.

Get what you pay for
Very cheap prime lens with great depth to field but its not the sharpest lens out there. Very good piece of glass for any Sony photographer considering the price

I was worried about this lens
Because of the reviews, but this lens is great. Yes its noisy when focusing but focus speed is great and images look great. The only down fall I would say is the focus distance, but other than that its solid for photography.

Good Start
Good starting lens. Has its purpose. But thats not necessarily being used for video. Its very noise when focusing. But thats not a problem when shooting stills. Remember its under $200.00. The price tag fits.

The Nifty Fifty Lives up to it's Name
I recently purchased a Sony FE 50mm lens. I wanted to use it to match another 50mm lens I have when doing two camera interviews. I was a little worried about the price point being so low. My first thought was it was not going to perform well but I need to get something and quick. The long and short of it. The lens performs above and beyond my expectations. It did not match the other lens perfectly but with a few small adjustments, it got me there. If you are looking for a good quality lens and are on a budget this is the one for you,

Budget 50mm
Its a economical budget lens that gets you a sharp image. The auto focus is really bad but i have heard updating the firmware makes it a lot better. I am yet to do that, hopefully it will fix the problem.

Fantastic
This lens is fantastic, photos are super sharp even indoors. Best of all, its not an expensive lens. Ive read some reviews that its slow to focus, I personally didnt think it was that slow for my needs (mostly people). It does make a slight sound when it focuses but its not super loud, not sure if that would interfere when shooting video with sound. I use it with my a6500.

Perfect price/performance 50mm
From a price/performance standpoint, this 50mm suits my photography needs. Can't comment on the video aspects as thats not what I use it for. For photos in low light situations on my A7 iii, this works well. Pictures are very sharp. Added filter and cleaning kit was a nice B&H bonus!

A Must-have 50 MM Lens for Sony Camera.
One drawback: When I focus on the lens with a closed down aperture I hear the short clicking / grinding noise, which is not a deal-breaker for me. A7iii.

Good for the price but low quality by Sony standards
I made an awesome return on investment for this cheap lens but as my photography because more demanding I find myself limited by its Chromatic Aberration wide open. Also the autofocus is the worst performing by any standard. It racks violently and noisily before each photo and usually fails to grab eye focus even in well lit close up environments. Video wise it also consistent racks focus for no apparent reason.

Overall, really like it!
This was my first lens upgrade from the kit lens that came with my camera. Overall I really like it. I didn't give it 5 starts because sometimes it seems to struggle to get focus quickly.

Great basic lens
As a non-professional who will not be as demanding as a pro, I wanted a simple, not-too-expensive 50mm prime. I could not be happier with this one. The f/1.8 means I've used it in extremely low-light situations with no problem. I've found the images clear and without artifact. And the very short DOF leads to some highly artistic shots with a beautiful blur to the background. I use it on a Sony alpha A7 III and using the A7's low-loss optical zoom... Show More

Great budget fast lens
I'm very impressed with the images I get from this lens, it's not the fastest autofocus or the best built quality but for the price, you can't go wrong!

Great for the money.
The autofocus issues and build quality make this a step below the other Sony glass... but it's priced accordingly. So I'm happy.

Not even worth it
I love Sony, but this has to be the worst lens on the market. Even at only $200.00, I sent it back. The lens construction feels cheap even for a mirrorless lens, I had a hard time tightening it all of the way to the mount. It didn't want to focus at all and the few pictures I took come out to soft. I recommend saving your money and purchasing a higher end prime.

Feels less than solid but works fine
Have had 3 Sony mirrorless cameras but have never owned a Sony lens. My thing is adapting film-era lenses. I figured I should have one Sony lens to go with my A7x body, so I bought this one. It's to replace a Minolta MC 55mm f/1.7 that I've used for years and that fits my shooting like a glove. My first impression of the Sony was how very lightweight it is, esp. compared to my Minny 55. That didn't exactly make me feel good, considering I acquire... Show More

Great prime lens for the $$
Works great on my A7RIII. Not a top of the line lens, but I have taken excellent photos with it!

Very affordable and functional 50mm. Great for interview style videos and portraits. Now, I will be using this more than most of my other lenses.
