Love This Just Short of Perfect Long Zoom Camera

Oct 9, 2017

I consider myself a Canon person when it comes to cameras. I was really excited about and ready to press buy on the Canon sx730 in July due to the articulating lcd screen (finally!) and the 40x optical zoom, but after some meh reviews and shipping delays for the Canon, I started flirting with the competition, which led me to this camera. After taking a long, hard look at the specs, I came to the conclusion that the Panasonic offered superior valu... Show More

Reviewers like it a lot more than I do

May 31, 2018

It is well liked in online reviews for all of the features it has in a camera in this price category. I like the viewfinder in addition the screen even though the screen only flips up to selfie mode and is no help in bright outdoors photography. I like the zoom. I like that it is compact. But the menu is confusing and one choice is dependent on a hidden other choice resulting in much frustration. This problem continues even after extensive direct... Show More

Excellent telephoto properties for a modest price

Aug 16, 2017

This camera is small in size and has excellent telephoto features when shooting in adequate light. I photograph wildlife at modest distances in daytime conditions. I set it to auto-mode, so I don't have to fiddle with with settings while my subject gets tired of waiting around and flees the scene. In good light, automatic settings have kept the ISOs low, and noise to a minimum. I have taken over 10,000 pictures (many time lapse shots) without pro... Show More

Lumix DC-Z570

Nov 17, 2018

I purchased the ZS570 after the screen on my Lumix GS85 was cracked badly. I am taking a second-level photography class which requires either a DSLR or a mirrorless camera that can shoot in RAW. Heres what I have found so far: The good: - weighs less than a pound, making it lighter than most all mirrorless cameras. - From what I can tell has all the advanced features of the GS85 mirrorless except the ability to use different lenses - Includes... Not perfect but a very good camera.

Jun 22, 2017

I admit that I'm a Panasonic fan. This is my fifth Panasonic camera and all of them still work. Although I do own Canon professional equipment, I don't take it on my kayaking trips due to my questionable kayak skills. For years, I took a Panasonic FZ30. Most recently, I've been using a Panasonic DMC-ZS19. I upgraded to the DC-ZS70 for two reasons. 1. It allows you to shoot in RAW. 2. It has an electronic view finder. RAW allows you more latitude ... Great performance but noisy images

Mar 15, 2020

I got this camera mainly for shooting sports and wildlife outdoors, at long range. It's very good for that. If you set image size to M, you get the extended/extra optical zoom feature. This means that at full zoom you get over 900mm reach for stills and over 1000mm reach for 4K video. I can shoot surfers half a mile away and count their fingers. Pretty impressive reach. The burst and buffer are very good for JPEGs (I used to shoot a lot of RAW b... Show More

Great Travel Camera

Jan 1, 2019

I bought my wife the ZS-50 version a couple of years ago. She loves it and gets great pictures with it. I would take my Sony a6000 along on trips but got tired of having to change lenses and carrying that extra gear. I wanted something more portable. I love my Sony a6000, but sometimes I just want something I can carry in my coat pocket, but still get great pictures. The ZS70 fits the bill. I really love that zoom range. Yes, I can get better... Amazing capabilities in a small package

Jun 3, 2018

For some time now I've relied on a small point and shoot digital camera and a full sized DSLR for my more serious photography needs. Usually on visits to museums and large indoor venues I like a wide angle or fisheye lens on the DSLR and use the small point & shoot for everything else. On a recent trip realized my 9 year old Canon Sure Shot just didn't have enough flexibility and zoom capability to capture what I wanted. After reading some review... Show More

A Good Travel Companion?

Dec 16, 2017

Like many Panasonic/Lumix cameras, this one comes loaded with features. Most of the settings youll need are one button push away and appear on the touch screen. The function buttons are also customizable. Another fine and useful feature is the remote control which connects your camera to your cell phone using the free Panasonic mobile app. The range is practical and latency in video mode is acceptable. Many of the cameras functions can be control... Show More

Excellent Camera, So So Camcorder

Aug 7, 2018

Lightweight with items that I want in any P&S camera: Raw Capture, Significant Zoom/Telephoto, and Pocket Sized. For photos, it works flawlessly. Video Capture is a plus, but so far I haven't been completely happy with the output. On a tripod, it does quite well. Hand held, the images sometimes are noticeably distorted. Perhaps it's a learning curve thing. Controls are easy to use once you traverse the fairly easy learning curve. The d... Show More

If the WiFi worked it would be almost perfect

Jan 8, 2018

I really like this camera. It's lightweight, small, and easy to use. The menu is nearly intuitive - I still had to use the manual to set up the 4K features, and to understand what all the icons do. It takes great pictures, even at full zoom. I'm very impressed with the zoom. I wish there were a few more "scene" modes, and the ones that are there could be described better, but I had to use one in a difficult situation where I was pressed for time,... Show More

Wonderful little camera

Dec 30, 2017

I bought this as an upgrade from the ZS-50, which I have used for several years. Although I have a Canon 5D MKII, the Lumix is the camera I reach for. To get the equivalent zoom with the Canon, I would be using the 100-400 lens with 2x extender, which pretty much requires a monopod as well. The pictures I have taken so far are excellent and the increased resolution is a real plus. It was important for me to be able to shoot in RAW, and that featu... Show More

Replacement camera!

Jul 29, 2019

I lost my Leica 112 during my trip to Italy. Needless to say, I was not happy. I decided to take the advice of all of those who told me the Lumix is as good as the Leica, basically the same camera. This camera has one fault - it is heavier than the 112. Otherwise, I think it excels in all categories. This includes - easier to find, read and adjust the controls, better viewfinder, better zoom, and above all cheaper. I bought this camera so if I lo... Show More

One of THE best point and shoot cameras on the market

Jun 21, 2017

Previously owned a ZS40, and it was a great camera. I have travelled all over the world with friends, and they continually comment about how much better my pictures are than theirs! The new ZS70 has definitely raised the bar. The options and capabilities of this camera are almost too much for me to understand! It can do so many things that much more expensive cameras do. The ONLY drawback is that the sensor is small so your low light pics may not... Show More

Happy with my Lumix

This is my second Lumix. My first one was an older, smaller model and finally bit the dust after many years of travel and use. You need to be careful and not put pressure on the lens cover slides when you storing or carrying your camera. That is what finally did in my old Lumix. This new Lumix is a lot more camera then my old one. Better lens, 4K feature and a lot more features that allow customizing your picture taking. (Much more then I wi... Show More

Great Little P&S Camera

Apr 29, 2018

I bought this Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS70 camera to have a small camera to throw in a pocket for grab shots mostly. I was really surprised to find out it does awesome video as well as great stills, that is where the flip screen earns its keep. I don't travel a lot these days but it has a good reputation as a travel camera and I can see why. I believe the zoom range is equivalent to a full frame 24-70mm lens, perfect range for walk around. Although this little bugger has the look of a commercial point-and-shoot camera, it has heaps more cool features than its look suggests. In fact, it allows you to fully control the white balance with the option of a Kelvin setting and a tint shift. It also lets you manually adjust the flash output in one-third stop increments. One other cool feature is the wifi connection, which allows you to use your phone to remote-control the camera. This come... Show More

Lumix ZS70 - a camera small enough to carry all the time

Jul 14, 2017

It's like having your phone camera on steroids. Full control of the exposure, saves images in raw for processing later (if desired). Compared to the Nikon A900: the A900 had a little longer focal length when zoomed out, but the ZS-90 has an electronic viewfinder (very useful in bright sun). I opted for the electronic viewfinder. One thing I have to be careful of while using the EVF - my nose touches the touch screen and changes the focusing point... Show More

Couldn't be more pleased. So far I've shot fireworks, a baseball game and the family pickup basketball game, all using one of the auto settings, mostly iA, and one of the night scenes for fireworks. Great Camera while it works

This was a great camera until it was about 90 days old(just squeaked by with the warranty)when it suddenly started having focus, turning off and on, zoom., etc...issues. In other words, it didn't work. Dealing wth Panasonic was not a pleasant experience, after approximately one month after receiving the camera, they "couldn't find anything wrong with it." I'm a fine artist who depends on taking many photos to use as references for my paintings. This is my third Panasonic long-zoom point and shoot. This model is filled with features, some super and some really superfluous. I don't like the touch screen, easy to touch something unintended and the touch points are really tiny. Complicated

May 24, 2018

I've owned an earlier model [DC-ZS10] - great camera. Great photos, Just the right size, and easily fits in my pocket. Finally developed a focus issue and would likely cost more to repair at Panasonic than buy a new camera. The ZS70 is too complicated, too big, too heavy. I'm sure it's a fine camera, but better for someone who doesn't own another system. I'll make do, but will likely not use most of the functions. I understand that Panasonic on... Show More
