Okay, so it's not mechanically up to daily professional use, but for the money you can't afford to NOT have this in your MFT kit. Mine is plenty sharp and I have no complaints. So small and light it always goes along with me.

Good lens

Jan 23, 2016

I use this Olympus 40-150mm lens on my Lumix GX7. It works as it should with it, both hardware and software wise. It is sharp across the whole image, sharper than my still useful Panasonic 45-200, and a more reliable image than my Sony 55-210, even though the Sony has the advantage of being on a camera (a6000) with lots more megapixels (I think the Sony's problem is over-smart software). This lens is lightweight and compact, and has good image qu... Show More

Truly amazing

It's a new world of value and light weight with this lens. Great performance and at a price which stuns this old-school 35mm film shooter. A no-brainier buy.

Great value

Dec 30, 2015

I looked at both this lens and the pro much more $$$ version, and for the price this lens is still sharp, fast, and does the telephoto job. I recommend it, especially for travel, it's relatively small for the length of the zoom.

Good lens for great price!

Dec 15, 2015

This telephoto lens gives good shallow depth of field for a camera that usually gives less shallow depth of field due to its micro 4/3 sensor. Image quality is great and it works super well with my Panasonic GH4. The price is also good compared to other lenses and is good for someone starting out in photography and filming.

Surprised and amazed

Dec 5, 2015

I've been waiting and hoping to get the 40-150/2.8 Pro M.Zuiko --it's obviously the best-- but my financial situation has been such that I finally had to admit that it wasn't going to be possible. So when I saw this on sale, I decided to get it instead of my dream lens. Last night I took it to a holiday concert with typical elementary school gymnasium lighting --garish gymnasium lights with no stage lighting-- and shot handheld with my OMD EM2, a... Show More

Incredibly sharp!

Dec 1, 2015

I must have lucked out. My copy is tack sharp between 40mm and 80mm at least. Incredible detail with the OMD-EM5. 100% crops have no fuzziness! No negatives. Supplements my kit lens for longer shots.

At this price its hard to ask for more

Nov 20, 2015

This lens is a phenomenal lens to buy as your first after the kit lens. It provides excellent telephoto reach and is quick to focus and produces sharp and pleasing photos. The build quality and slow aperture are the only real downsides but at this price you can't for more than what you get. Bear in mind there is no IS so I only recommend buying this you have an Olympus camera with in body IS or panasonic's gx7 or gx8.

Great lens for the Price

Nov 18, 2015

I bought this lens on sale. I wanted a telephoto lens for OMD EM5 Mark II to compliment the kit lens that I bought with the camera. It works very well so far. When I use the macro adapter that I also bought with it, I can now take macro shots and get some great bokeh! It's not a Pro lens so it's not as sharp as I assume the Pro version would be but for my purposes it fits the bill at a very good price.

Amazing lens for the price

Oct 28, 2015

I use this lens when I travel. I carry a FF Nikon and it gets to be too big and heavy at times. I am amazed at the quality of the pictures that this lens produces. The 150mm gives me very similar pictures as my 28-300 FF lens and it is so much smaller and easier to handle. There are many places that I travel that I do not feel comfortable, due to crowds and/or distance that I walk that the small size is very desirable. Great lens for the price and size.

The Lens I thought I didn't want

Sep 13, 2015

I've enjoyed using my OMD EM-10 for several months and have used some very high quality lenses from Olympus: 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro, 75mm f/1.8, 25mm f/1.8. I also have Oly's long telephoto zoom: 75-300mm which has some limitations but on the whole is a very nice lens. I passed over the Oly 40-150mm as a cheap bargain basement lens. One of the real advantages of the Micro Four Thirds system is the compact size of the cameras and lenses. However, the ... Show More

It's Decent with my GH3

Sep 10, 2015

I am a videographer and I bought this lens to go with my GH3, mostly for just a cheaper zoom option when filming. I find the image quite nice actually, but only when using a tripod and under manual focus. I'm missing the Image Stabilization found with Panasonic Lens when roaming handheld. Really not a bad purchase though, and super lightweight!

Very nice for a kit lens; very, very nice for the price!

Sep 2, 2015

I used a borrowed version of this for several months and decided it was worth having in the bag for reaching a little longer than with the primes I normally use. A bit soft at extreme length, but very nice as a walk around daytime lens. And for the price it simply cannot be beat.

Nice addition to my micro 4/3 kit for my BMPCC

Aug 25, 2015

I own a couple of Blackmagic Cinema Cameras that use micro 4/3 lenses. I have a Lumix 12 - 35 mm 2.8 which is awesome. This 40 to 150 takes me pretty far given the crop factor. It is best to use this lens on a tripod because it doesn't have IS. And it is not a fast lens, so you will be limited to well lit scenes. The good news is the price. For the money it is a great lens.

I use this on an Olympus E-M1, came in a bundle along with the Olympus 12-40MM F/1.8 Pro series. Like having a VW in the garage next to the Audi, yes it's not all what the Pro line is, but for great shots around the yard, portraits of the kids or the dog, it will certainly give better result than that smartphone.I think more users would rate it higher if the price point was $$--just as people believe that Audi with VW parts is a better vehicle!

Value For $$$

Aug 15, 2015

For 99USD, this zoom len is really value for money. Use it on the same day I receive it and been loving it. Although not the sharpest len for M43, but for 99USD, there isn't any thing else to complaint. One thing a little bit strange that might need B&H to clarify. The camera & picture taken recognise this len (ie on Olympus Viewer 3 properties for particular picture, it identified the len used), but when I tried to perform a firmware update, the... Show More

One of the best values in Micro 4/3

Aug 5, 2015

It may be cheap, but it delivers image quality well beyond other lenses in its price range or well above (just don't expect it to work well in low light). Due to its low price and weight, every Micro 4/3 user should have a copy to carry around. The 40-150 f/2.8 PRO lens may offer better image quality, I'm not sure its worth $$more to the majority of photographers.
