Great little lens, no qualifications needed
The people who are saying it is not sharp I think are making assumptions. I'm frankly blown away by how good this lens is, overall. I wish it had a mechanically-actuated zoom, but then it wouldn't collapse to be so compact, so I'll take it. The build quality is typical Olympus: that is to say excellent. It feels dense and solid in the hand. In general, I prefer a more rangey zoom as my walk-around lens. I went with the Panasonic 12-60 G Vario. ... Show More

not a good lens, but handy
I use this on a GH4 to make it very portable. It lacks stabilization and is not fast, but it makes it possible to have my GH4 with me and not need much space.

Great replacement lens.
I brought this lens to replace the origin lens on my Olympus PMI. It work perfect. I love the power zoom.

Quality Issues
Just received the lens today and I have not been able to mount it on the body yet. I think Olympus have quality issues with their products. This lens outer ring seems rough on some spots. I am assuming that I received a new copy from B&H but it looks slightly used. This is my second bad experience with Olympus lens. I decided not accept it but this time I think that its not acceptable. Review is strictly for the cosmetic issue and not functionality.

Coolest. Lens. Ever.
How do more people not know about this lens?! I searched youtube and found a couple short unboxings in other languages, but nothing other than that. In short, this, paired with the automatic lens cap (LC-37C), is by far the coolest lens Ive ever used. I have it fixed on my G85, which transforms it into a pocketable point-and-shoot camera. The lens cap opens and closes automatically when you power cycle the camera! With the lens (and auto-cap) m... Show More

Good for what it is
I got this lens for a compact travel use. Quick tripod tests show this is not the sharpest lens I own fromOlympus by any means, but more than servicable for vacation snapshots.

Nice and small
I bought this lens for its compact size and light weight. It makes my OM-10 into a jacket pocketable camera. Image quality seems to be on a par with the usual kit zoom, so you don't give up anything in making the change to this smaller lens. Highly recommended for traveling.

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 EZ Lens
Good zoom standard range. This would equal a 24mm-84mm lens on a 35mm camera. I got it on sale for half of its normal price.

Great little lens
I bought this lens to use on my Inspire 2 and it works well. The zoom works very well and the pictures are so clear.

Turn your camera into a compact
This lens is very compact, and quite capable for it?s intended use. It weighs almost nothing and is well built. You will sacrifice some sharpness, but the trade off still makes this lens a good value.

Excellent Compact Lens
I bought this lens for special situations like visiting museums, churches or small groups where a long lens is just out of place and too bulky. This small pancake lens that telephotos out is a perfect companion my Olympus 4/3 camera body. With the lens on, the camera has a very compact size, light in weight and only slightly larger than a point and camera --- but I have the ability to shoot in M,A,S,P, A or video modes. Great for traveling in big cities and taking in all the tourist sites.

A versatile lightweight
Using on my DJI Inspire, DJI Osmo Pro, Panny GH4, and Panny GX1. A steal at the new Sale price. Very quiet power zoom compared to Lumix equivalent. (Panny won't fit Osmo or Inspire 1). Highly recommended.

Astonishingly sharp from a compact lens
I also have the Olympus 17mm f1.8 and the Olympus 12-40 f2.8 PRO lenses and took a set of images indoors in dull conditions and outdoors in sunny conditions. Amazingly in overlaying the images in Photoshop, I found it difficult to distinguish them. This lens doesnt resolve the red as well, (based on red leds on a clock) and the colours require a little tuning (reaching towards red a touch), but the result is brilliant. The lens was tested at F4, ... Show More

Great little lens
Great lens to use for my Oly em5 mkII when I what the lightest load possible. This little lens is much better than some reviewers would have you believe.

Good things come in small packages
The size of this lens is deceiving. It does not look like much (but the styling is very retro-cool) yet the images it produces are sharp with good contrast. In combination with the Pen-F, I was able to get tack sharp images handheld all the way to 1/8 sec. So far, my shooting has been limited to a few days, but in a variety of conditions. I do miss my faster f/2.8 Canon lenses, but I don't miss the weight. Combined with the in camera IS, the slower lens does not appear to be a problem.

Tricky Zoom.
Like that it opens when the camera is turned on. The electric zoom is a bit tricky; difficult to stop zoom exactly where wanted.

Great for Osmo Pro
I use it with osmo pro and it is the best way to get closer to subject. Everyone who use this DJI tool should have one

Sounded better on paper
Bought this to use on a DJI Inspire One RAW. On paper this sounded amazing but in real life and I don't know if I can blame the lense for this. The picture is very shaky zoomed in, and anything but a sunny day picture quality is very soft, around sunset it almost looks blurry. My biggest issue with the lens is the slow focus, again may be in part cause my the DJI X5R camera. Because of that I will give it a star rating in the middle, since I am not unhappy with the lens but I am not happy with it either.

Welcome Upgrade From Previous 14-42 for EM10
I sold my Olympus EM 10 and upgraded to the EM 10 Mark II and wanted a lens that was smaller and more efficient than the kit lens that came with the EM 10 that required constantly unlocking before it would be used. This new version of the 14-42 EZ lens is great in the way it narrows the profile of the EM 10 in a way that makes it much more easily pocketable. At the same time, the auto-open feature is a welcome change atnd quality of the produced ... Show More

Happy with this so far
I started using Olympus 4/3 cameras to save weight and bulk during trips to the rain forest. Happily, this lens brings size and weight down even more. So far, seems to be giving good sharpness and color.

Small but mighty
I have switched to MFT photography due to the size and weight constraints during traveling and going hiking. The smallish compact system lens (M.Zuiko ED 14-42mm) is deal for the Olympus PEN F camera and fitting neatly in tight bags and trekking gear. It works without flaw, fast focus, and barely noticeable on the camera. The image Quality and build quality are second to none and match my Zeiss gear (at a lower cost). It's not bad as a system lens.

Good lens for most family / sightseeing photo-ops
Good lens for everyday family shots.Lens shipped and arrived promptly. Lens provides smooth zoom in/out features and minimal aberrations in the extreme settings. I am particularly happy with the camera (EPL-7) and lens low lighting conditions vs. regular point and shoot cameras. Compares well to my beloved and outdated 28mm-70mm lens on a 35 mm film SLR.

A good lens when traveling.
I purchased the M. Zuiko ED 14-42mm lens because I like using my Olympus OM-10 when traveling but want to make the camera/lens combination as small as possible because I often travel with carry-on luggage only. I found this lens to be ideal for this specific purpose. With the OM-10, I can use my favorite camera; with the Zuiko ED 14-42mm lens, I have combination of lens/camera that is relatively small. With one trip now under my belt, it has turned out to be a good choice.
