Works Well, But a Bit Flimsy
I got this because my newly purchased laptop didn't include a disk media drive. I plugged it into the USB port with the included cable, and the machine immediately saw it and I was up and running. I've used it to install some software that used DVD media. I have NOT tried burning a disk with it so can't comment on that aspect. A DVD Burner Shouldn't Be This Much Trouble
I bought this burner to use with an iMac with High Sierra to burn photographs. The first one wouldn't burn anything. The replacement wouldn't burn anything either. It would play CD's, but not burn. I called LG for help. Spent almost an hour with a guy in the Phillippines who had me download software called Express Burn from an Australian website that was supposed to enable my Mac to use this burner. Works on an iMac!
If you own an iMac or macbook that had an original cd/dvd, then you took the original cd/dvd out to upgrade the hard drive like I did, you will find the hard way that Apple crippled the Apple Superdrive so as not to work on such upgraded machines. good low-cost solution, not recommended for power user
Bought this for one of the newer iMacs that doesnt come with an internal optical drive. Seems to work fine for the casual user who needs to play a CD or DVD, or read a disc into iTunes. You Always Get What You Pay For
I tested this LG external DVD in three ways 1) watching a full length movie 2) burning a disc 3) opening a DVD with TIFF files. I bought this external drive because my 6 year old desktop internal DVD was slowing down and sometimes would not burn DVDs. Not sure the upgrade to LG made a lot of difference. It took 7 minutes to burn a 2.5GB dvd. It took 5 minutes to try to read the DVD with TIFF files but I finally gave up waiting. As for the movie, no issues. I expect if I'd paid more I would have gotten a more robust DVD with faster read/write speeds but this will do in a pinch.

A Necessary Part of my Computer Gear
Call me a dinosaur but in these days of thinner laptops and tablets, I miss the CD/DVD drive. I still use CD's for music and information, and my laptop (among other faults) has no drive. This little beauty solves the problem. Easy to install, small enough to fit in a pocket much less a computer bag or a suitcase, it is a problem solver. I don't use it all the time - but when I do it's there, it works, and I can depend on it. Price is more than fair, I have received more in value of service than I paid for it many times over.

Works as it should
It is too early for me to give the kind of review as if this item has worked wonders for years. I only bought it recently and have yet to see how it keeps up on the long run. But so far it is OK. There was a bit of a problem getting to work right from the get go. I had to play with it to get it to work right. I should also say that the design is a bit bulky. There was one I bought from B and H some years back that had a slimmer more compact design and worked better overall.

DVD Burner For Computer With None
I got the GP65NB60 Portable USB External DVD Burner and Drive by LG, to supplement my new Computer that had no Optical Drive. I chose the LG for both it's Specs and Price. It was recognized immediately by my computer when I plugged it in. The Optical Drive Copied and read files Flawlessly. Noise was not a factor for me as long as the Hardware does what it is was designed to do. I would reccomend this Optical Drive to anyone who needs an Inexpensive External Optical Drive

Good value for product that works well
Purchased product to burn to burn CDRs after the optical drive began to fail on my old 2008 iMac desktop. This external burner represented a very reasonably priced alternative to having desktop computer taken in and repaired. Unit was perfectly compatible with iMac and seems to perform its functions well. The burner seems somewhat flimsily constructed and its long term durability remains to be determined, but so far I'm quite satisfied with this purchase.

Used to burn DVD & play a DVD movie
I've used this burner/player to burn a DVD and play two DVD movies. The burner worked well, though a bit slow. One of the movie DVD was defective and stopped after about fifteen(15) minutes. The other played well. I tried the defective DVD on a desktop burner; with a few minor skips, it played. I assume it is the nature of the portable player - nature of the beast - that it would not play the defective movie DVD. May be stability or operation?

Perfect at a Low Price
With my new computer that did not have a CD/DVD drive and burner I needed to purchase one. There were many drives that were $79 or higher, which I thought was overpriced after searching the web for an alternative. Since I have an LG IPS monitor which I love, I decided to buy the LG drive. Really Good Burner
I actually own an LG burner (desktop external) and it's worked perfectly, but I was looking for one that's small, and I can throw into my bag, because since I DJ with my tablet, it doesn't have a burner, and lately I've been having a lot of independent artists come to me with music on CD and this has gotten the job done. I've been asked to burn a quick CD or my love mixing and again, has worked out perfectly! No issues what-so-ever.

Worked for 6 Months, Then Died
I bought this for my wife, who needed an optical drive after she got a new MacBook Pro. On the plus side, it worked without a hitch right out of the box, but despite only occasional use in six months and reasonable care, this writer now just clicks and makes noises. Sadly, it's not heavy enough to be a paperweight and not absorbent enough to be a coaster, so I guess it's going into the trash.

Works for me, and inexpensive.
I'm using the LG GP65NB60 Portable USB External DVD Burner with a 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2011) running High Sierra 10.13.3. I've successfully used this drive to rip several DVD movies to my computer, and also used the drive to burn a DVD. I bought this drive when the internal optical drive died (and of course Apple doesn't have parts for a computer this old). So far it works for me.

Great external CD/DVD drive.
I have hundreds of CD's I'm downloading to the my iTunes and hard drive. I have an HP All-In-One PC which has the DVD/CD drive on the right side of the monitor. For me it's more convenient having the DVD/CD drive on the desktop. The only negative is the supplied USB cable is only 2 feet long and I had to use a 3 foot cable which I already owned.

drive worked flawlessly, price & delivery excellent
The drive worked flawlessly in all my Linux systems, including the crankiest, Scientific Linux, an RHEL derivative. And Windows, too, of course. The price was very good too, but best of all was the shipping. DHL, which transferred to U.S. Post Office, the most convenient, safest and most private of all options, for the last leg. NOT UPS!! Yay!

For This Price It's a No-Brainer
This external drive does it all very well and at an unbeatable price. Quality is what I expect of LG. The only small quibble I have is that the included software works fine, but contains a few too many sub programs that add a bit of bloat to my computer. I guess that's a small price to pay for a light, inexpensive, high quality burner drive.

Good quality at a very good price...
The performance of this drive is good. the only problem I have is that my HP notebook computer has only 1 USB port so I need to use a hub to connect multiple devices. I cannot use my wireless mouse and this CD drive because the computer doesn't have enough power to drive both. Larger more robust laptop computers would probably be fine.

First of all this product is carefully pack in a box with protective foam around it to prevent damage. Nice! The Drive is made mostly of plastic - but for the price - what would one expect. More importantly it WORKS. It also comes with a USB cable and Instruction Disc - though I skipped the Disc and just plugged it in. Simple. Happy!

A Very Good Value for the Money
I bought this drive to rescue myself from an ailing DVD drive that was installed in an old machine running XP service pack 2. It worked right out of the box and allowed me to install some software I needed when my old drive would not even recognize that there was a disk in it. The portability aspect of it is also very appealing.

Worked as exepcted
Got this to use with my Mac Book Pro. Have only used it twice to upload some programs from disks to my HD. Was simple to plug in and use as any USB device is. It is a very light and feels not too rugged and I'm sure if it was dropped or sat on it would break very easy. But I figured that would be the case for the price.

Does the job
What can I say, it worked out of the box. I bought this to load some older software on a new laptop and it worked without a hitch. The case feels like cheap plastic that may crack if subjected to abuse so I wouldn't consider for road warrior duty. For the occasional use, especially considering the price, go for it.
