JVC Flats Slim, Compact On-Ear Headphones - Red

JVC 'Flats' On-Ear Budget Stereo Headphone
Out of the box and with some break-in time, the sound is very forward, and weak in the bass. I found that this headphone was easy to EQ to a neutral sound, although the deep bass just isn't there. Still, most music, and even classic 'Tracker' organ music sounds pretty good with the right parametric EQ. The high frequencies are good up to the important upper treble harmonics. The tiny cables going to the earcups have no strain reliefs, and as I e... Show More

Great for Digital Piano
I recently purchased a Casio Grand Hybrid digital piano ($3,500). Because this piano's internal amplification is relatively low, I found that I was in need of headphones that can get the full sound of the piano without maxing the volume out, which can cause some distortion of sound. The professional grade (and much more expensive) headphones weren't allowing me adequate volume without maxing out the piano's volume control. Not good. Surprisingly,... Show More

Best deal in this style
I had these headphones about two years ago. They were some of the best I've used, especially for the price. I'm pretty rough on headphones and I use them a lot, but these held up for almost two years stylen absolute record for me. It's always the jack that goes bad and I would almost swear most makers design it that way. But these held up better than any I've found, the sound is phenomenal for the price, and they fit my ears perfectly and are ext... Show More

Unbelievable for the price
I'm not an expert of any kind, but compared to my 5 year old Apple earbuds, these 1) are very loud 2) have much stronger bass (my dad feels that it's TOO much, but I'm pretty satisfied) 3) block out exterior sound quite a bit and 4) are not particularly audible to other people in the room, as long as you haven't got your music cranked WAY up. I use these for general music listening, audiobooks, and tv. My old earbuds had been irritating my ears a... Show More

good for the price if avoiding in-ears
nice form factor. doesn't cause any ear discomfort on my ears while wearing glasses like other slightly larger on-ears such as HA-S400good bass response easily down to 22hz, providing nice sub-bass but not overpowering in the bass overall.mids seem a bit muffled but highs are nice without being sibilant.at this price point this seems like the way to go if you're avoiding in ear (canal or otherwise)however, if you go up to the $ price range you ca... Excellent Headphones for the price
These headphones are the best. I had a pair for four years and lost it somewhere so I bought it again. The fact that they still sell this model says something. Lightweight, super comfortable with soft vinyl earpiece sleeves, great sound, and all that. Folds flat so it can fit in a jacket pocket with your mp3 player alongside it. Hard plastic so will not break if you drop it. The only thing you could do is possible stretch the cord out of the earp... Show More

The only ones I buy
These headphones have great sound and amplification. The band isn't the sturdiest thing in the world, so this is the third pair I've bought in about five years, but I don't even care. The bass is nice but not too heavy (I can't stand heavy bass). I originally fell in love with these because my computer audio jack is screwed up and is only stereo if I plug headphones in halfway, and of course then the sound comes over the laptop speakers too. But ... Show More

Good value headphones
Considering that I got this pair for the price that I did, their sound quality is pretty good, and the padding is pretty comfortable. They're good to travel with, being lightweight and with the earpieces able to swivel so that the whole thing folds flat. They've been holding up pretty well too, especially for being carried around a lot. The only reason why they're 4 stars and not 5 is that the cord is a bit shorter than I'm used to, and though th... Great headphones. Will buy a 2nd pair!
I bought these headphones for work because they were cheap, low shipping (thanks B&H!) and had some decent reviews. Got them in the mail and I am very impressed. sound quality is great, and this sounds really nerdy but I am so impressed at how they fold flat without compromising the quality. I also really really appreciate the padded ear cups that are a nice balance between comfort, good sound quality and dont look like those ridiculous dj/ audiophile headphones. I've already recommended them to my friends and I'm about to buy a second pair to use at home.

Poor Fit
Let's start with the positive - the sound quality of these inexpensive JVC headphones is quite good, especially considering the price. Highs are quite clean and they are very efficient, producing high volume off of very little power. They are also really light weight. On the negative side, the fit is much too tight, putting uncomfortable pressure on the outside of your ears. My head is average size. It would be extremely uncomfortable for anyone with a large head to wear these cans. Overall I can't recommend them, due to this fit issue.

Great traveling headphones
The JVC flats are a great bargain in the low price headphone market. They are lightweight, stylish, comfortable & have clear, balanced sound. They are perfect to take on a long distance plane, train, bus ride. Closed back design & minimal sound leakage combined with the above mentioned qualities = a steal! They do have 2 minor flaws. First of all, they can be played fairly loud but distort if blasted at high volume. Second, they are not heavy duty in construction & can break if not handled carefully. Well worth the price paid.

Excellent value cans
I wasn't expecting much for $ USD but I'm amazed by the sound quality of these little cans. Thry sound significently better than the headphones they replaced - Koss Porta Pro. Bass is very solid, highs are crisp. I use them plugged into a Pioneer stereo receiver. Downsides are they're not the most comfortable and after an hour or so my ears start to fidget but nothing close to unbearable. Cord length could also be longer but I bought a 3.3 ft noodle extension cable to solve that problem. I'd buy these again.

Great portable headphones
If you're looking for reasonably comfortable, lightweight headphones with pretty decent sound, these are for you. These things are really pretty comfortable, and the sound is good, especially for being so inexpensive. I can wear these for hours while I exercise or do physical work and my only complaint is a bit of sweat in the ear. They are also very durable. They do demand a bit of break-in, perhaps 8-10 hours of use before the sound peaks; however, this is not uncommon for new headphones.

Sound is fine. But wire is very very weak.
These haven't held up very well. The wire inside of the cable casing is very very prone to getting broken which renders the nice speakers useless. The last pair had one speaker that quit after 2 months light use and then the other speaker quit after another week. These sound great, are nice and light, comfortable, but the skimping on robust enough wire will always mean they quit after a time.

Not bad for the price.
I use this in the office while editing videos. The sound quality is good, and the ear pieces are comfortable- I like how they fit over my entire ear. The head piece isn't so comfortable, if it were thicker or padded it would be perfect. But for the price, I really can't complain. I pesonally own a $ pair that is super comfortable in all areas, but I had to stay within budget.

A GREAT BUY
I use these for travel, as they fold flat and can slip into a laptop's bag easily. I also use them for binge watching TV shows late at night as they are more comfortable then my AKG monitor headphones for a long evening. It is hard to pick on these at all for the money, as they sound better than more expensive ones I've had in the past.

I dare you to beat these for the money
I use these when I travel. They fold flat in my laptop bag, which is great. The sound is really good, especially for the money. The bass is much better then most in this range. They come in colors: Violet, blue, red, and pink but they charge extra for those (seriously?) so I just went with black.

The price on these headphones must be a misprint. These have really good stereo separation.Everybody would buy at least one pair of these,if they would listen to them. These are good enough to reveal flaws in your recordings if they exist.

Good Headphones
Have tried many headphones and this one is my most recent. The price and performance is 5 star. The design and lack of head cushion are drawbacks. The mids and highs are good, the lows could be better. A good performer for the price.

The first day that I got these headphones I placed them in my backpack after their first use. I walked back to my dorm and set my backpack down for the night. When I pulled them out of my backpack, they had already broke in half.

I use these headphones to watch TV with my wife so I don't blast her out of the room. I think for the money, they are a great deal. The only thing I don't like is trying to find the volume control, but evertyhing else is great.

They Work Well
1) Quality of sound is so good I prefer to use these with my iPhone 5s which I use to do field and phone interviews. 2) Inexpensive but good quality sound - but I have to be careful because they seem lightly constructed.
