Great for the $
I haven't put it through it's paces entirely yet, but it seems to do as well or better than my Nikon 28mm 1.8G on my D810. Very nice build quality, and fast AF on A7rii even in dark conditions. manually focuses well. I'm not a pixel peeper, but quality seems excellent when viewed 100% on my 13 retina MBP. I haven't plugged into my NEC monitor yet.

Best travel lense ever
I bought the lense about a month and a half ago, since then that is the only lense I have used in all my trips (Portugal, Middle east, Sri Lanka and Back to the US) No other lenses beats the quality, portabilty and speed of this 28mm. I do carry a second body with a 70-200mm VRII but for 90% of my photos I use my A7s with this great lenses.

Amazing lens!
I got this lens to use with my new a7iii. It is an amazing lens! Wide, but not too wide. Sharp image and the autofocus is accurate, extremely fast, and SILENT, making it great for all your vloggity vlogs and other types of setups for shooting yourself. Pair this with a 50mm and you have a great, versatile setup for video and photography.

Sharp, Fast, Light
This is a great lens that works very well with my Sony A7r. It has more chromatic and barrel distortion than, say, a Zeiss lens, but this isn't a Zeiss lens. With a little bit of work to profile the lens, you can correct for these things easily. The autofocus is very fast, and works well when photographing fast-moving subjects.

Killer lens for the price
Great value. Lens is small, light, focuses fast and silently. Overall images are sharp with good contrast even wide open. Lens has crazy distortion but is either corrected in camera if your shooting jpegs or can be fixed in post with lens profile corrections. Couldn't be happier with what you get for the money with this lens

Best FE Value
Impressive sharpness, light, well built, quick to focus and quiet. Bought for my A5100, 42mm focal length is perfect for a single walk around lens to carry. Love that I'll stay with me when I upgrade to the A7 line. Nothing compares for the price. Everything it gets compared to in the FE line is double or triple the price.

Very nice on a6500
I bought this to have as a nice walk around lens for my a6500. It performs very well in that regard and is not too big. The sharpness is also very good, no complaints. I like that you can make it wider with the optional Sony attachments (expensive though), but I won't do that unless I also have a FF body someday.

Big performance in a small lens.
This lens is a true gem. I bought it to use on Sony A7III and it works great on it. It is small and lightweight, focuses quickly and accurately, is super sharp, has beautiful rendering of out of focus areas (bokeh) and great contrast with saturated colors. I don't know if you can ask for more from a lens.

Sharpness and Clarity Highest
Small, fast, very sharp. Used on A7r, and NEX-7. In low light on the A7r, there is some focus hunting. On the NEX, there is no focus hunting. Distortion in RAW is apparent but easily corrected LR. Sharpness is comparable to the best ZA lenses. Night images are fantastic. For the price, it is a prize.

Fantastic, sharp, wide lens
When upgrading my camera system from an a6000 to an a7iii, this 28mm lens was the first on my list because of how affordable and compact it was. It does not disappoint. I'm a huge fan of the 35mm perspective, but this 28mm gives me a lot of flexibility especially when paired with a 50mm or 55mm.

Quality Affordable Lens
I bought this lens for its fast aperture. Manly for video purposes on my A7ii. The wide angle perspective comes in handy when stabilizing the video in post. The lens is sharp and is noticeably lightweight. The most attractive part of this lens is the price point. For $400 it delivers EVERYTIME!

Really love this lens just a few days.
Decided to sell my Loxia 35 mm and go a bit wider and get autofocus. Was not expecting better image quality but this lens is a steal at the money. Great color, VERY sharp, and focuses quickly. If shooting RAW, you will need to correct distortion, but the profile is in Lightroom so no worries.

I mean really, what else can I write here ? This is not even a Zeiss lens but yet produces sharp results. Not a pixel peeper but this can be a go-to lens whatever the situation. Pretty sure paired with the right flash, this can work wonders for events. Really small lens for an FF lens.

Excellent Value
Using this prime wide angle lens on an A7-II. Punches above its price point: Solid construction, sharp stopped down a little, pleasant color rendering, and low distortion with in-camera correction. Definitely an improvement over the 28mm-70mm Sony FE kit zoom at the same focal length.

Nice and needed focal length for A7
Nice lightweight option for the A7 series. Not quite up to the zeiss primes, but still a sharp lens, even wide open. Certainly better than the 24-70 zoom, at least my copy. Build quality is good, but again just a touch under the zeiss. Great for street shooting and a hiking.

Don't judge this
This lens,despite its price is a real killer lens. I have made some amazing photos with this. If you use it with the right settings this lens will work wonders. Not a must have if you own some lenses in the same category but if you don't, get this lens. Worth it.

not a replacement for the 35mm
I bought this lens for video as a hopes to replace a 35mm Fe since I didnt think there were any good options for the 35mm in my price range. Unfortunately I was not a fan of this lens and will have to find another option. good lens just not for my video purposes

Excellent
Outstanding "walk around" lens. I use it for street photography and landscapes. Very sharp images. Small, light weight and unobtrusive way to capture life in fine detail. One of the truly "must have" lenses. B&H delivered free in two days. Just outstanding.

One Of My Favorite!
This lens is always in my bag. I take this and my Sony 24-240 when traveling and find that Im using the 28mm most of the time for landscape and street photography. Its light, its sharp, and it fits my budget. One of the best Sony lens purchases Ive made.

Fantastic buy
So far I have used this for some landscape pics and video, mostly video. Fantastic lens. I got some pics of San Diego city-scape and the pics are sharp at 2.0 but tack sharp at 4 and above. Great color and smooth focusing. I am so glad I got this lens.

I love this lens
I think it is great, period. Fits the a7r perfectly. Sharp, good value, everything positive that has already been said about it. I wish it was as small as the 35mm Zeiss, but I guess you can't have everything. It is still relatively small and light.

Great Value & Performance
Using this lens on a small handheld rig ISee Shape and an a7Rii. Easily manageable size and weight. The lens works perfectly with the camera. (As it should) Its just a test of time now. I also think these reviews should be done after 6-12 months.

Perfect walkaround lens on a7III
This was to replace a 24 mm lens that was aps-c. It is full frame so the FOV is better. It is very sharp, great travel lens and small all around lens. Much easier to carry that the 18-105 or the 70-300. It stays on the camera most of the time.

Great glass
Bought this initially to have another wide angle lens to double with my 16mm2.8. Comparing both lenses the 28 is nice and tack sharp. Shallow dof works nicely for closer portraits if needed and the f2 is awesome for astrophotography. Love it
