Great value for money

Jun 27, 2013

This lens is great for most photos that require a longer focal length than the standard zoom lenses. This would include portraits, candids at parties and weddings, reasonably close sports shots, larger wild animals. For smaller wildlife, birds etc, and sports at greater distances (e.g. cricket) one needs a much longer focal length. The images are sharp enough for my Olympus OM D E-M5 body with its excellent sensor and IS. The autofocus is very ra... Show More

Truly Remarkable lens

Jun 26, 2013

To look at, the first wave of Olympus m4/3s lenses seemed a mite flimsy, this one being no exception. But underneath the hood this lens produces surprising results, quite amazing when you consider the price. I prefer it to the Lumix 45-200mm. It's lighter, balances better on my succession of E-PLXs: the 1, the 3, and now the 5. It's also half the price. Sold it with the E-PL1, but recently repurchased because I kept running across the images created with this lens. And since they, the images, speak louder than words, I enclose a few herein. This is a basic, must-have m4/3 lens.

Good Travel Lens

Jun 26, 2013

I've used this lens now for several weeks and I'm very happy with the results, primarily for outdoor shooting while on vacation. It's very sharp and produces beautiful results. I primarily shoot without a tripod and have no issues with the quality of my pictures. It is not as diverse as the 14-150, but I have to expect that given the price and it being the 40-150mm version of course. Overall a great product and I'm happy with the purchase.

A Lot of Bang for the Buck.

I use this lens for nature photography. I believe that I achieve results comparable to very expensive professional lenses from other manufacturers. I have to get a little closer perhaps, but I am able to do that in many instances.

Great all around zoom lens

May 15, 2013

Lens was a great addition to collection. I primarily use my camera for underwater photography so I have a ton of gear to lug around. This lens gave me the option of not having to bring along a topside SLR. I was able to use it for topside photography and was pretty happy with the results.

Excellent and Inexpensive

May 1, 2013

I bought this lens to complement the 14-45mm lens that came with my Panasonic Lumix G5 kit. I was concerned about an Olympus lens working on a Lumix body but it works great! The AF works without any problem. It produces some nice, clear photos. The zoom range is quite usable for many shots without having to resort to another lens. I found that I cannot produce a small depth-of-field shot due to f/4.0. Overall, I like the lens.

I purchased the Olympus EP-M1 from you recently & this lens makes a very good long zoom to go with the kit lens that came with the camera

Very Good Image quality for the Money

Apr 11, 2013

It is so small and lite I don't mind carrying it around. Often comes in handy when you require that little bit more zoom and the quality is nearly as good as a prime with the advantage of being a zoom. I have taken shots at 60th sec near the end of the zoom without shake. Great lens.

Can't Be Beat

Apr 9, 2013

The price is excellent and the IQ is outstanding. Bang for buck can't be beat. The equivalent in DSLRs is usually over a pound and will cost a lot more to own. Get one I don't think you will regret it.

Meets and goes beyond my expectations.

Apr 9, 2013

I love this lens because it enables me to take pictures of birds and plants, i.e. cactus blooms so I do not have to go in the field to shoot. This lens is very easy to use for the purposes I needed it for. I was able to obtain this lens by trading in my previous camera. This has enabled me to be a step closer to my goal of becoming a better photographer. The only thing I do not like is the fear of losing my lens cap.

Great little lens

Apr 9, 2013

Got this lens for landscapes and travel shots. I was pleasantly surprised how well it performs as a portrait lens. Head-shots at around 75mm give good separation and pleasing bokeh. Very sharp, good contrast and colours. A bargain.

Surprisingly good

Feb 28, 2013

This lens is new to me. First few days' use show it to be sharper than expected at all focal lengths. Better contrast than the 14-42 kit lens which came with my E-PL1. The two lens overlap gives me a full-frame equivalent coverage of 28 mm to 300 mm. Amazing for the price.

Great Bang for your Buck Lens!!!

Feb 27, 2013

Excellent Lens for the $$$!!! Fast AF. Sharp images! Slight blurring edges towards the long end of the bottle. Nothing unusable. I tried in a few situations. Long lens outdoors. Long Lens for my son's hockey game. I got some great action shots. I'm using with Lumix G3 so no image stabilization. I would recommend this to all the micro 4/3 community!!! Very Happy with performance!

A fun lens with good reach and sharpness

Feb 21, 2013

I like this lens for adding a bit of reach on my 4/3 kit. It gets me close enough to the action without having to use my feet. The zoom is fast. The focusing is great. As a part of my kit this is a great lens to have.

Good Lens, Especially for the price

Feb 4, 2013

In my limited use so far, I have been pleased with the quality of photos I can get with this lens. I bought it for general telephoto use outdoors. For an 80-300 equivalent lens, it is nice and compact. It has all plastic construction, but that doesn't bother me at all, since it helps the lens stay light and cheap. The M43 system seems to be flush with nice, compact, prime lenses, but has much fewer options when it comes to the telephoto side of t... Show More

Decent lens

Jan 15, 2013

I bought this lens to compliment the 12- 50mm for my EM-5. I guess one reasonable question is whether or not one would be better off with buying only the camera body and then the more pricey 12 to 150(?)mm. One reason not to is that lens is not weather proof and the 12-50mm is. Since that is one of the big reasons I bought this camera over a few others I'd been considering, I'm willing to deal with two lenses. The lens seems at least as good optic... Show More
