Surprisingly Good

Nov 15, 2014

Although not the PRO version, this lightweight lens turns out to be surprisingly good, almost like the unsung hero in the bag. I have mainly used it outdoors, granted, which supplies good and great light. With the great results, I come away thinking I got a steal of a deal on a very useful lens. I used it indoors at a swim meet once, and I thought I could have used the aperture on the PRO version because I wasn't getting shutter speeds I liked, b... Show More

OK Tele for the Price

Nice range, but a bit slow to focus. It is well worth the $ extra I paid for it when I purchased the E-M10.

This is a great little lens. It is well worth the price. It's an affordable lightweight lens made for normal daylight photography.

Very Happy

I love the weight of this lens and its optics are very clear. Shooting this at 85mm and at the lowest aperture setting the corners of the image are crisp and clear. I very useful lens to have added to my arsenal of lens.

Perfect For Starting Collection

Aug 14, 2014

After buying a new MFT system I needed a telephoto lens. This was a winner for the price.Good zoom range and descently sharp photos for cheap. AF is a bit sluggish but is not poor and still works fine. In good light it focuses well but not at super-speeds. Performance in AF drops with the amount of available light but that is no surprise. I can't figure out how to MF with this lens. Maybe I'm missing something? Chromatic aberration is noticeable ... Show More

Light, sharp, solid

This lens fills in the spot between my Panasonic 12-32mm kit lens and the Olympus 75-300mm long tele zoom I purchased last month. On the Panasonic GM1 there is no image stabilization, but I am finding the lack of mirror slap and with electronic shutter, I still consistently get sharp handheld photos at moderate shutter speeds. In this case at shutter speeds of 1/30th second at the 40mm end and of 1/100th of a second at the 150mm end. You can get ... Show More

For the price of the lens, it is very efficient! It offers superb quality, at a low price-point; all in a lightweight product! There's some problem with focus when in macro shots, but it may simply be setting-related

Super range, low price

Jun 28, 2014

This lens is a good buy in my opinion. It offers a very long range (80-300mm, 35 mm equivalent). The lens behaves consistently and the price is good. While the metal finish looks nice, this lens is all plastic. That makes it very light, but does not have the feel of a nice, high-priced lens.

Really like this lense!

Jun 22, 2014

I just bought an Olympus camera, and then wanted a zoom lense, to be able to take more of the photos I envisioned. But, I did not want to have to carry a huge lense. So, I really like this lense. The photos turn out well.

This is considered to be a 'kit' lens. Kit lenses are generally speaking not very good. Imagine my surprise when I first used this and saw the results. Nothing less than amazing - and considering the price - this has to be the best bang for the buck in M43 lenses. You give up nothing with this lens other than max aperture. Light, fast to focus, and wonderful results.

Not Bad for the price

Jun 10, 2014

I use this lens with my Panasonic GH4 for photo/video, and for the price it handles very well. I couldn't believe how small and lightweight it is. Its also plastic, which did not look the case on the photo, but overall its not a bad cheap lens.

Light, handy, but slow

Apr 17, 2014

Shooting in daylight stopped down a couple of stops makes the best use of this lens. A tripod is handy if you need a slower shutter speed. I used a OM-D DM-5 with its decent image stab and was able to shoot without a tripod (see examples). It is a very light lens. Yes, it feels like it's made entirely of plastic. But everything works.

Worth the price!

Apr 11, 2014

It probably isn't the very best long-zoom telephoto in the world. But for the price it's worth having. I seldom use long telephoto lens - too much atomostphere / haze / camera motion. But when you need it, it's nice to have. This lens is a keeper at the price. Plus it's small and easy to carry. I'll keep it until I find something measurably better.

This lens is a fine bargain price, but produces great sharp pictures. Construction is just ok.but pictures are great. I use it on a monopod and have a great time shooting pictures with it. Lens worked well without any problems. I would not use it in a rain storm but as a good weather lens it is a winner!

Great lens for the price

Mar 26, 2014

Have only had my new Olympus for a few weeks, but I am enjoying getting to the camera and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm lens is a nice, clean shooting performer as a basic lens. It has a nice range; clean, crisp shots and very little grain even at the high ISOs. A good starter lens for the OM-Ds or the PEN.

This is an excellent piece of glass

Jan 8, 2014

I bought this lens to get me by with my OM-D cameras until the pro version comes out later this year. It delivers much better results than I expected for a lens in this price range. It smokes the 12-50 kit lens that came with my E-M5 at the same focal lengths. Highly recommended.
