I bought this to replace my Yamaha MG16CXU Mixer. This mixer is loaded with features. First and foremost are the balance XLR-outputs. Each mic has gain control, Mic 1,2 have compression and if you have high impedance equipment or just need to give a singer a little bit of a boost, each mic has a 26 dB pad. There two stereo line in connections with both 1/4" and RCA and a third line in that has a direct USB feed from a PC using the Yamaha Cubase driver at 24 bit/192kHz. The line in from the PC using the USB has very little latency and has zero ground loop interference. To top it all off, there is phantom power to the mics and 24 SPX effects that can be injected into each channel and the you can use the cubase AI code included to mix it all up yourself on the PC. The Yamaha MG10XU mixer is hands-down, the most convenient mixer I've used so far. First off, I was very pleased with the USB connection, it takes up less space and makes connecting to a computer much more convenient. The built-in effects are superb, and made mixing much more accessible. The size of the mixer was great, and taking it back and forth between places wasn't a problem whatsoever. I also praise the quality of each recording, fixing the levels and gains on each input is very easy. This mixer also made DI (Direct Input) recording very satisfying. I went from a Scarlett 2i2 interface to this model, and I'm glad I made this decision over others. this is my first mixer, I when down to GC to get another one that was one sale but it didn't have a power supply so the tech showed me this one. I wanted to dabble in recording some of my songs at a little homemade studio I set up. this mixer sounds good and clean and it is perfect for what I needed. I've been playing guitar for decades and had a big honking' old analog SoundMaster 16-4-3 mixing board my brother gave me but it kept blowing the slow blow fuses. I run out from this little Yamaha mixer to an AB international amp then to two Peavey SP4's with Black Widow speakers and it sounds great, like you are in a club setting. I crank out backing tracks through the system and practice my lead solos with this set-up. Its all I need but I only usually use three channels: one for a vocal mic, one for a mic in front of my Line6 guitar channel and one thru the USB from a Macbook pro for the backing tracks... ... More

I've owned many Yamaha mixers over the years from the 24, 16, 12 and now this 10 input mixer. The 24 down to the 12 channel were of earlier generations (I use earlier to avoid saying OLD) and while I loved them, I'm a mobile producer who sits up in an hour to record an event or produce a LIVE event and not only do I often not have the space and power sources available, I have enough age on me that I don't want the weight. I'm often a backpack carry in producer and that means lightweight and portability. Coupled with the Yamaha BMS10A - Microphone Stand Adapter, this is an amazing tool. I have to tell you that right out of the box you are not gonna like how this thing feels compared to my older (yikes I said it) Yamaha's but this baby performs right beside them. You turn it on, the earphones are silent. You think it's not working but that's because the circuitry is clean. That's a Yamaha exclusive in my book after over 40 years of working in audio. I love it and would recommend it to anyone . . ya sure can't beat the price either. Needed a mixer for my home electronic studio to incorporate other electronic instruments and acoustic instruments, but mostly I needed usb. Thought it had more than one usb lanes. It only had one dedicated. Also had a hard time getting my vocalsbonto daw as a vocal only entry. But vocal track kept including the music from my DAW(s) (Mixcraft/Sony Acid). Instructions were basic. BUT...I can tell you, the sound was absolutely crisp, clean and free of any static etc. The construction is solid! The knobs were easy for me to utilize with my big sausage fingers! The onboard effects were superb, and I loved the parameters you can get on them! This Mixer is fantastic for the price! Unfortunately, its not what I need at this time so I had to return it. If youre looking for a clear crisp mixer that is made right, and is smaller for travel, this is your Baby! I will be be back for one when I need one for acoustic instruments. Oh, maybe if I would have spent more time with it I could have figured out the music from my DAW ending up on my vocal track, but the lack of more usb lanes is what turned me off about it at this time. Got the mixer last night for a outside street fair we manage. Had 6 different acts today from banjo and flute combo to a barber shop quartet and they all love what this mixer could do for them. Easy to use, the mic amps are great. The balanced output work wonderful. Setup was a breeze. The effects saved a couple of acts which were a little weak. For the price I think Yamaha hit it out of the park. Thinks to Cody at Eugene GC for steering me in the right direction.

I have been using a small Mackie mixer along with two Mackie powered speakers for the past couple of years for jazz vocals in a restaurant setting. I have been frustrated by buzzing in the speakers and muffled output for the vocals. My Mackie mixer also lacked controls for monitors and had no onboard effects. I bought this Yamaha to address the items mentioned above, and it has (1) gotten rid of the buzz from the speakers, (2) has a very clean, clear output for my vocals, (3) gives me monitor out ports and volume control, and (4) provides easy access to a number of effects--all I need is a touch of reverb, which is easy to control both from the effects area of the mixer as well as on each channel. First off, I don't care if our podcasting venture even takes off, I would sit and play with this thing all day long! not only does it give you amazing options and control over each channel giving you the power to control even the loudest mouth breathers, it has sound effects in real time! You can apply this to any input and bounce back and forth with the settings for each channel. We had tryouts to sing the national anthem and some would have actually had sounded better if they sounded like a demon from the underworld! Not to mention I can take any Adel song and make her sound like an Elf and happy for once, no one cares about another breakup song! ... More

When it works it's AMAZING. However, when you listen to it with headphones, it randomly gets very static, sounding and sounds robotic. After about a minute it fixes itself, but there is no apparent fix. it doesn't affect the audio recorded, just when using it to listen it happens. It also randomly when selecting other apps, will lose audio completely, and you have to turn it on and off to get sound back. When it records the sound quality is AMAZING, but the sound issues I've had while using it to edit sound, is just not there.

I bought this in order to make my computer recording and monitoring setup more streamlined. It fits nicely in the upper part of my desk's computer tower cabinet allowing all my cords to be in one place (I knew this ahead of time though because I did my measurements and research before I bought it). I am using it to input my keyboard, xlr condenser microphone, and instrument pickup microphone as well as a secondary output for my computer's speakers, subwoofer, and monitor speaker. I know 10 inputs is more than enough but I wanted room to expand if needed. I love all the features and capabilities. It feels like a professional mixer with just fewer inputs. The 24 different effects are great and have a wide range of tonal shaping capabilites. The fact that it has two sets of stereo outs, a headphone out, as well as two more monitor outs makes it capable of being used in a smaller live music setting. Other than that, it is solid and feels very well built. I've never been really into Yamaha products (Roland and Dexibell are more my speed) but this one just might make me a believer (we'll see). ... With the pandemic it became clear I needed to up my video conferencing gear. Being mostly an acoustic player with vocals and a second guitar and vocalist, I wanted to be able to handle at least 4 mics. This mixer got great reviews. The sound is very clean. That's what I wanted. What I didn't like was how hot the back of the unit would get. I measured 115 degrees with a digital thermometer. Heat is not a friend to solid state devices. Computers too. It really bugged me. I have the mixer sitting on top of a metal riser used for computer monitors. The riser is perforated and sits 6" above my desk. There is plenty of air around the mixer. This is my second unit. I returned the first because of the same issue. No one at the store had heard of the heat issue with this mixer. Previously is had a Allen & Heath mixer that was pretty good. It never got hot. After seeing this happen, I would now guess this heating up of the mixer is a common issue with it. It makes me question the longevity of the mixer. How long can it go before the heat begins to affect the internal parts? Something will eventually fry. ... More

This mixer is fantastic! High quality controls and finish, the sound is superb. I bought another brand (I wont mention it but it starts with a 'B'), and it burnt itself in 5 minutes. This mixer is all you need if you're either experimenting or playing in bars with your band, I highly recommend it. The guitar center staff is really knowledgeable and will let you pick whatever your heart desires, but this is a no-brainer. Unless you need some fancy features, this is definitely the entry level mixer to get. I love it!

After I realized that my current PA is now tired, I went on the hunt for a current sound board, I totally get why this little guy gets 5 star ratings. For my needs it will serve me quite well working as a Duo, very clean, nice FX's, and a two channel compressor is a very nice touch that actually works. I don't know about the USB stuff did not buy it for that, only for live sound. It seems well made and made of metal from what I can tell, so its rugged. Perfect for the soloist/duo/trio you really can't go wrong with this Yamaha at this price point, best compact mixer out there regarding performance. I purchased this product to replace my older Yamaha MG82cx that I used extensively as a gigging pianist/keyboardist. I loved my previous mixer but after twelve or more years of it being jostled and banged around it was time for it to be replaced. This new mixer's construction is an upgrade in that the it has metal and rubber feet on its base compared to the previous plastic housing making it less vulnerable to slipping when placed on amp tops etc. The overall construction feels significantly stronger to me. The improved preamps provide a very strong signal and sonically appear less hyped than my older mixer. I do like the available one knob compression which operates very adequately when used to perform in duo situations with vocalists. The expanded 24 onboard effects from the previous 16 that were available to me is also a nice plus. Overall I'm very happy with the construction and quality of this mixer especially when you consider what you receive for the price paid. ... More

I did a lot of research before purchasing this mixer. I based my decision on the features and the Yamaha reputation for quality products. It was a good decision. The mixer feels solid and is easy to learn to use. It has a good variety of inputs and effects. I am using it for a home Karaoke setup with both Wireless and Wired mics, a Karaoke video system and computer. If you needs a quality mixer and don't want to spend a lot of money then this is a smart choice.

I use this mixer for live sound in my solo show. It does not take up much space and is very easy to use. The effects are good quality and it is not a lot of money. I like the ac plug feature. Some cheap mixers have a poor connection for the ac cable and once you bend the pins in them your done. Great product.

I purchased the MG10XU Mixer to use in conjunction with my Denon MC6000. I am going to use this mixer to allow me to control the signal going to my subwoofer. This was I can control the amount of volume that is going to the mixer, versus just going out the regular outputs. I was DJing a wedding outside the other day and used this mixer in conjunction with my QSC K10s and a Shure MC58 microphone. I connected my laptop to the mixer and was able to "DJ" the actually wedding and the sound was excellent. I am very happy that I purchased this mixer.
