Comes with all the things you really need to get started. Easy to mount and set up. Picks up great sound but also a bit of electric noise as a side effect. This is my first microphone so I don't really know if this is a common thing or not. I'm using it with a Canon XA10. The phantom power from the camera doesn't seem to power the microphone so I'm using the AA battery in the microphone instead. This works great but you have no way of knowing when you're running out of battery. So, always keep a battery around as a back up when you're shooting. Other than that - all good! ... More

Comes with everything you need in a shotgun mic. Wasn't sure if it would attach to my 1.8mm mini jack on my canon t3i, but it came with the adapter cable. Some of the components are fairly cheaply made (wind muff, case), but the price is awesome for the fact that everything is there. Plenty of foam inside the case to keep it all safe, even a little slot for a spare AA battery. I'll be able to easily wire this on to my DSLR or boom pole with little effort.

Finally had the opportunity to use the microphone in a video production. It worked ok with the zoom h1 but it picked sound around the shot although we were in a relativelly quiet setting. It also had a lot of noise that needed to be worked in editing. Maybe the input setting was to high but it didn't looked like that, we used a sony lavalier mic and it was really quiet. I will keep using the Vidpro to see how it goes.

I recently bought the Canon 32GB VIXIA HF G20 Full HD Camcorder and wanted an external mic. This is a GREAT first mic for the money, The one down fall was you also needed to by a shoe adaptor as the camera had the mini shoe. I found the adaptor to be okay but it put the mic up another 1 1/2 inches and a little unstable. NOTE: I do not recommend anyone else doing this but I got around this issue by using a dremel tool to cut down the full size mic shoe to fit the mini shoe, and now it is ROCK solid ! All in all it was a good buy. ... More

I got this mic as a budget mic. used it one day and just had to return it. There are way better options out there. Pros - 1.Cheap. Can be used as a reference mic. 2. Can be used in a sound booth. Cons - 1. you HAVE to use it with Phantom power from a preamp. The signal noise to too much when on battery power. 2. The audio rejection is poor. Even with the mic at low levels, it still picks up more ambient noise. I could hear everything around almost as bad as the in cam mic. 3. the deadcat/wind muff is too big for it to slide right on. it slide right off. 4. extremely high on the highs and low to no mids and lows. ... Out of the box it has everything you need. Great travel kit. Its an amazing one stop shop solution. I don't have any complaints about it. Came with every adapter I could need. I have been able to hook it up to my camera, external recorders and even a vocoder. Now Im not comparing this shotgun mic to one that costs $ or more. Just look at the price. Its better than anything out there in its price range.

Granted, this is a cheap mic set. But I've used this mic a few times so far and none of the audio I've gotten from it is usable. The set might be more valuable for the add-ons that come in the box.

I video tape student talk in a variety of situations; whole class discussion, small group and in pairs. Up until now I have struggled with getting clear audio from students which is the main purpose for the videos. With this shot gun microphone I'm picking up student voices across the room. This makes my video taping less intrusive in the classroom. Before I had to practically put the camera in students faces. When dealing with young children, they tend to perform or freeze when a camera is present. Now they hardly know I'm there.

I'm staring my short films as a senior in high school. I paid for it myself because of the good price and the professional look and durability. It's Okay. It's really well for starters like me. The only problem is the protection from wind noise. It really doesn't help much. Other than that, great audio.

I am an amateur film producer and run mostly DSLR rigs. I have been working on expanding my sound production capabilities and wanted a good shotgun. I saw this in the B&H deal of the day before Christmas and thought, heck can't go wrong at that price - (are you on that list? worth it!) I got mine for $ which is a WOW price - and what I received was a capable well built clean sounding shotgun with all the trimmings (shock mounts, dead cat, various cables and a case!)Having used it for a few weeks now - I would call this a bargain even at full price ... I've only used this mic a few times since I've bought it but so far, I'm very impressed with the sound quality for only $. It comes with a lot of accessories, including several XLR cables, which is awesome. I absolutely love how it also came with a carrying case and a boom mount. So far, I haven't found anything I don't like about it, other than the fact that as soon as you unpack the carrying case, you'll never figure out how to get everything back in there again. Haha.Bottom line: great quality microphone for just $. Perfect for a broke videographer just starting out. ... More

Everything works great! Tested out the product and all the accessories and they work perfectly fine. The mic has 2 settings regular and condenser. The condenser setting really focuses in on what you're attempting to record so you do need to boost the levels a bit which is to be expected. The fur and foam wind shields work great and all cords work excellently. I would definitely recommend this kit. Yes there are better products and even kits out there but for the price of this one it's definitely worth the money and looking in to.

It's Ana amazing mic and it's really good for the price, I've had the chance to use other expensive mics and they are as good as one of this the battery that comes with it I've had for over a week now without heaving to change it and I use it often the XLR cables do a great work, I've seen a review on people buying them separately but honesty it's a great kit you really don't need to buy anything else that is in the kit

I attempted to mount the microphone on a stand to try it out, but did not get beyond that. The shock mount would not thread on to the stand. The hot shoe mounting stud and the hand grip would not thread into the shock mount or the rigid mount. I did not cross thread any of it. Using reasonable force I could not get two turns engagement. That is not enough. I returned it without connecting the microphone. The experience of returning it to B&H was good.

This is well-priced and well worth the money. We use this on our DSLR in place of the built-in mic. The resulting audio is much better than what you get without an external mic and with the included long cable we can take the mic off of the camera and use it as an interview mic. The mount that it comes with could be a little more robust, but the kit also includes cables and a very nice storage case.

Got this for school, as I'm in a video program, because I didn't want to be tied down to the schools equipment. I love the flexibility that it has given me as I am starting to shoot videos, and record ambient sounds. For the price it is a great buy because it comes with tons of accessories. That being said the mic itself is not worth $, but if you are just starting out I would say it gives you some great diversity of use. Glad I bought it but can't wait to find the money to upgrade.

I used this product as a 2nd audio input to a Sony NX-100 video camera while livestreaming a worship service in a large auditorium. On playback, I noticed an odd popping sound, like static, periodically. I was using the included XLR cable. I disconnected it and have not used it again. There are a lot of nice accessories, but no manual is included. I have not been able to find one online to download.

I was looking for an inexpensive shotgun mic that could be used on or off camera. This kit came with everything I needed, including a long XLR cable with an adapter to plug into my camera. In my initial tests the quality of the audio is good, although not quite as good as my wireless lab mic. Good quality for the price.

Bought this to be part of a smartphone video rig to use in the field. The sound is much crisper and clearer than the built-in smartphone microphone. I also like that it comes with various cable/adapters so I didn't have to purchase them separately. Only used it a handful of times so far, but have been impressed with quality for the price.

Condenser mic has great range and picks up awesome audio detail and shock mount is very decent, but wind guard doesn't make much difference in outdoor locations. Good battery life. Comes with most cables and adapters needed for recording audio for video, however the connectors feel very rough edged and sometimes get stuck once plugged in from either male or female end. Will definitely replace them as soon as possible.
