Did some research on what bassist use for silent practice and the MDR-7506s were one of the models that came up more than once. I needed a headphone that would put up with the abuse of loud music and my bass guitar put through a mixer - blew up a pair of mid priced Koss phones. These appear to be holding up very well. Very comfortable to wear and a loud clean signal comes through nicely. Only thing I MIGHT change is the spiral cable.

As my cat ate my Beyer Dynamics DT880's (PMO) I thought I would give these a try and see what all the longstanding hype was about. Well the hype is well warranted as the sound quality of these irrespective of price truly surprised me! I won't go into HOW they sound but for the price I suggest you give them a try as IMHO they sound as good if not a little clearer than my BD 880'S...but as sound is so subjective you decide...I bet you will be very pleasantly surprised.

I wanted headphones for watching TV after 10:00 pm without bothering my upstairs neighbors. My Bose headphones (OE2i) are excellent but I had to sit too close to the TV due to the mobile friendly length of the cable. These headphones have a 10-foot cable, so I can sit wherever I want. And the audio quality and comfort of these over the ear headphones are wonderful. Now I can really appreciate all the acoustic details in my favorite show, Game of Thrones.

These headphones have incredible clarity, presence, and true sound. I use them for professional video editing and field recording. Never heard a headphone with more true sound in all frequencies. They are open back, so don't expect any noise cancellation. The only issue is they due tend to heat up over time, which makes wearing them for multiple hours kind of uncomfortable. But it's worth it. It's worth the price!

Crisp, clear sound, comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Not too heavy on the head. Long coiled cable accommodates a fair distance from a video camera without straining cable. 1/4 to 3.5 mm adapter included. Care must be taken to prevent coiled cable from becoming knotted or curled up. Once knotted, it's a pain to unknot. Leatherette case is included. Phones fold up neatly to save space in your bag. Doesn't need lots of power to drive the drivers for adequate sound level.

Tested and priced a whole bunch of headphones - and then went online to research reviews. This phones are well regarded online and figured at the price, the worst they could be is mediocre. The reviews were right: they're an excellent value. - Nice combination of weight and comfort - Coiled cord enhances mobility - Very good sound quality and external noise suppression - Curls up into a nice ball to pack into the vinyl bag

Im only doing this because I sure can use 1000 bucks! lol I was honestly very satisfied. The product worked great and even though the shipping method was free and would take 10 days, the shipment went out quickly and i received my order within 4 days. Very happy with the service from B&H! The headphones work much better than others i have used and they look stylish even though ppl say they are not. Cant loose with these really. Im shocked at how cheap they are. You wont be disappointed

I work as an ethnographer/documentarian in a variety of media. I regularly use closed-ear headphones for recording and videography. The Sony MDR-7506 have the advantage of being somewhat more compact than my Sennheiser HD 280s but they are less robust and do not isolate external sound quite as well. Having said that, they are definitely adequate in many situations and have the advantage of folding smaller.

I've relied on these or a version of them since the 1990's. Clear, sharp and they fit in the kit easily. My best day ever, I sat, by myself, in the front row of the Landon Arena in Topeka Kansas while Aerosmith played their last rehearsal before the Get A Grip tour, recording them for a VNR. These headphones allowed me to hear the recording without my ears being blown out by the sound system. Love them!

I purchased over a dozen of these over the last several years. 3 pairs for myself and the rest for several small recording studios I helped put together. Make sure to replace the pleather pads with Beyerdynamic valour alternatives.

We've been using this model since it was introduced 15 or so years ago. These phones don't lie to you. They are flat across the range. The only real ding is that the folding feature that makes them so handy in the field is constantly pinching the wire between the driver and the hasp when you fold it. The earpads definitely have a limited life but will give you a couple of years, depending on how much you sweat while wearing them. Good value for money.

These headphones are extremely versatile, excelling in both studio and casual listening (iPod, etc.) applications. The overall sounds is staggeringly good - crystal clear, non-fatiguing highs, and superbly detailed, non-muddy bass - VERY low extension. My only complaints are with the headband - it gets uncomfortable during extended listening sessions.A user-replaceable cord would be a big plus.

I use this for editing in an open work space and the headphones do a good job of knocking out the other sounds. They are also comfortable and I like having the single coiled wire so that it can extend but stays compact when needed. I haven't had to do any marathon sound editing edits yet but for now I would say they are quite comfortable. The sound quality seems great which I've come to expect of Sony products.

I purchased these headphones for use in tracking live performances. They produce a remarkably clear sound, very crisp. Isolation is not spectacular, but enough to be serviceable. My particular pair had a small defect in the cable which caused the sound to change radically depending on position of the cable. However, I have heard of no-one else with this defect, and so have no qualms about exchanging for another pair of 7506s.

I A-B compared the MDR-7506 and MDR-V6 and I cannot find any difference between the two regarding the sound and build quality. Both are made in Thailand. The only differnece is the marking and the colour of the plug. Of course the price is different with 7506 more expensive. Both are great can for the mony but why pay more for the golden coloured plug!

I use it for voiceovers and, definitely improves the sound quality in voice tracks and the overall sound of the mixes. The only thing I would change is the two little exposed wires, could be stronger or hidden.

I use these set of headphones at work mixing and editing audio and video, I also own a pair of Seinhesser HD and beyertronic's with the velvet cushioning; compared to them these still have great bass and good mid and high ranges. They are accurate and not much sound from outside leak in. Def a great set to have in the studio!

Owned the MDR-V6 for decades! Inadvertantly bought this new model MDR-7506. Freq response is different in spec sheet. Probably not a problem but be careful. Sony products are very rarely shoddy. The carrying case is garbage, though. Maybe it breaks in, but that is definitely a cost-cutting change in the product's accessories.
