Just purchased so cannot give complete review. I love the amount of pixels I have to work with and the lightness of camera. It fits nicely in my hand and feels like a Dslr camera. Still trying to learn menus as previous Nikon user. I do wish some settings were not buried so deep in the Menu and more user buttons could have been placed on top of left side of camera, i.e., bracketing. I also love that Sony/Zeiss has some great lenses for this camera.

Wonderful camera, but the noise is very bad. Dynamic range is good, it starts up quick, when compared with A7R. Uncompressed RAW feature is good.

No Sony A-mount lenses will Auto Focus on this camera with tele-converters....I went to buy it today, tried it out, my 70-210 F2.8 with a 2X wouldn't Auto Focus, then I tried my Minolta 600mm F4 with a 1.4 converter and it would not Auto Focus either......I wanted this camera BADLY, but left it on the counter and walked away...How saddened I am....

Don't get me wrong. The a7RII is a great camera. Even for 4K Video. But it's not perfect and it will not satisfy a certain cinematographer. I'm referring to a run & gun type of filmmaker. So, here are some alternatives you can get if your'e looking for something more perfect-ish.-Canon 5D Mark IV-Canon 5DX-Canon 5DC-Sony a7SIII-Sony a9SWhy get a Canon 5D Mark IV/5DX/5DC?- Much tougher build than Sony- They are very reliable unlike Sony- Zero Major Flaw- Extremely slow release cycle a.k.a future proof & slow price drop- Bigger and Longer Battery life than Sony- No need metabones adapter if you have Canon GlassWhy get a Sony a7SIII/a9S?- Very subtle flaws compared to a7RII and a7SII- No overheating issues (Both a7RII and a7SII have)- Touch Screen- Slightly Bigger and Longer Battery Life on the a9S- 4K at 120fps- Many more features than the Canon 5D Mark IV/5DX/5DC but not as reliable- A few hundred dollars cheaper than Canon DSLRs- Small, Compact & Powerful- Always the latest in technology Are you able to bare with 4K Video on the a7RII?-YES for Scripted Short-Films, Music Video, Etc-NO for Documentary, Wedding, Event, Run & Gun Style, EtcWhy you should not get the a7SII and wait for a7SIII or a9S-Likely to have identical overheating Issues as the a7RII due to same body-Same short battery life as the a7RII-No Touch Screen ... I sh hot in raw, and didn't realize that the Sony system doesn't work in Lightroom. Sony makes their own editing system , for which they charge only $50. Should have been notified this about this before I bought camera.

I purchased this camera, since I had an interest in Mirrorless technology. I already have a Canon 6D, which will not be replaced. I liked the ability to use a metabones IV adapter to utilize the canon lenses that I own. Bought the camera used, so when I received it last week it was missing the Manuals and the USB cable. The sensor was full of dust particles, which was not good. That tells me it was not overhauled, prior to shipping it.

I started to use my brand new a7r2 this June. And just after a few months of moderate usage, a grey spot started to appear on recorded images. I feel pretty upset because I only have one lens, 16-35mm f4, and after I carefully mounted the brand new lens on my brand new a7r2 on the day one, I have never unmounted the lens. I have no idea how any dust could land on the sensor, when I never change the lens. I am a very careful user, so I really think I got a lemon. Even though I should still be covered by warranty, without a SONY shop near by, asking for a repair would be really a pain. ... More

Great camera if you don't mind cleaning the sensor more than taking pictures.

Seems like a great camera but it's not for me. As a working pro, I found this camera to be to cumbersome. The whole idea of having a small camera with great IQ is diminished by the dslr size lenses and horrible battery life.

As previously noted I was concerned about the focusing performance of the a7RII and the a6300. I just finished a trip and can confirm that neither camera holds a candle to the lowest level Canon (SL1) in terms of focus performance. I used Sigma, Sony and Zeiss lens and the performance is horrible. If you have a great deal of time to focus then you are set. Otherwise go with Canon to do it right.

Raw files have amazing resolution and details, however the camera itself does not feel complete (almost as if it is still in beta). Hoping the mark iii version fixes this camera's shortfalls.

ISO performance is worst. There are security cameras with better low light performance. Worst menu system. Horrible ergonomics. Slow boot, Random Crashes. ( I have used two cameras and both experience the same issues). Then there is the overheating and tiny batteries. This camera should not exist. I would rather have a canon 5d Mark ii or a GH4 before using this, heck even a lumia 1020 has better performance.
