I purchased this mic to use with A Korg Kronos X 88 as a vocoder mic, and it works perfectly. It produces a strong, quality signal, and rejects the program output from the studio monitors, so I can practice the part before isolating with head phone...which are comfortable to wear with the mic headset. I plug it directly into one of the inputs on the Kronos. I thought about getting a condenser mic, but then you need phantom power and possibly batteries. Even though this will be used mostly in the studio, I didn't want to mess with phantom power issues and low-Z connectors and adapters, and I am happy to say the signal is plenty hot. I saw a video on youtube with Spike Edney using this very mic, and figured if it was good enough to tour with, it would be good enough in the studio. I find the headband comfortable, stable, and easily adjustable. Also, the mic is easy to adjust and stays where you put it. At first, my only gripe was that the cord is too short, but I realize it is better that way. I run a cord to my clothes from the keyboard and tether it, then connect the mic connector there. It's great when tech works, and I am very happy with this purchase for what I am using it for. I think it would make a great stage mic with a wireless system or wired, but I have not tried that. ... We purchased this for our band's drummer. It's been a god-send for him because now he has the freedom to play the drums without worrying keeping his head at a fixed position. The sound is good but less sensitive than the regular SM58s so we have to turn up the gain a bit, but still usable. The other thing any singer using this mic have to be aware is that now you really have to control your voice, because your mouth to mic distance is considered constant.

My hands are free to announce wedding parties, lead dances and work my computer. This is a must buy for it's convenience and durability.

Each month I record a live game show for radio with four panelists, a host, and guests from the audience. The show takes place in a long concrete and brick bar with terrible acoustics. We initially had problems with feedback and room noise bleeding into the panelist's tracks. These headworn mics have been an effective and affordable solution. The quality of the recordings has improved immensely! Now, my post-production time is greatly reduced, and my Executive Producers are happy with the final product. While not as lightweight or small as the more discreet microphones available, the price is 5-10x cheaper. The dynamic element allows me to crank the gain without feedback. As other reviewers have noted, it does require careful positioning for optimum sound. ... More

First of all, sorry for my english. Im a brazilian citzen, and every time Im in NY, I HAVE to do a pit stop at B&H. Usually the best prices, best brands, best gear. So, about the microphone, as I said, its good, but not excellent. Or maybe I still dont learn how to use it as well. Im using this mic in a Xenyx 1832 (Bheringer mixer) and I fell the voice of this mic a little lower than the other microphones (Shure PG48). I dont know if its the position (head/mouth), cause Ive never used a mic like this. But, overall, its a Shure microphone, and the detachable belt clip is a good idea. I play keyboard, and for many years I was looking for a mic like this. Its very good playing without any concern of lookint to the keys and at the same time my mouth looking for the mic! Dont forget to buy an aditional cable, XLR/M to XLR/F, at least 20 feet. Thats all folks! ... More

We use 2 of those microphone for commentators during our live sport webcasts (surfing/bodyboarding events) all around the world. It work great in noisy environments but need to be well positioned. It's comfortable to wear, commentators might have to wear them for up to 8 hours in a row and their feedback were positives. The XLR connectors are plugged into our audio mixing table via an XLR extension cable and don't need phantom power. Great product with the right pricing.

I love this mic. I do a lot of voice over work with inexperienced talent. This allows them to be natural and allows me to get a consistent level on them. Sounds similar to the SM58, but not as much low end. You have to find a balance between mic position for the lows, while not getting the pops. The unit is very compact and the XLR feature is great. I tested this in a noisy reflective room and still got a good recording, it has good off axis rejection. I plan to buy more. I thought at first it would hurt my head as there is not much padding, but after adjusting it and wearing for over 1.5 hours - no problems. I wish there were more padding though around the temples. ... More

Straight out of the box this is a great product. It's light, fully adjustable to fit any head size but best of all is the sound quality. It is 'almost' as good as a hand held sm58 (needs a little more 'pre amp' and it has just slightly more treble response than the sm58). The freedom it gives to a 'guitar vocalist' like myself is quite simply amazing. Before I was rigidly glued to my mic and stand now I find myself almost dancing whilst performing...It must be even better for a drummer or keyboard player...total freedom to move. I love my WH20 xlr. ... More

The mic sounds pretty good...probably better with a nice amp/speakers. I like a hands free mic and it was comfortable. But that darn feedback kept messing with my sound and I had to send it back coz it just wasn't going to work for me. That doesn't mean it won't work for you. It is worth checking out. I couldn't believed how well it worked when I first used it. To me, it's pretty balanced for what I'm using it for. Unless I have extra money to spend on a super expensive one then I will, but overall, Price is Great, Quality was Great!!!!!! A power button would really be a plus.

The keyboard/guitar player in our band had a problem when switching instruments, plus he was always off-mike when singing. We solved the problem by buying the WH20XLR. It's a well made headset mic, comfortable, sounds very much like an SM-58 and sounds fine in the mix. The mic is slightly less gainy than an SM-58 and needs a bit of a low-end EQ bump, but once properly setup it works just fine. It's a great buy for the price and I'd definitely replace it if it were to break or get lost.My only complain is that the mic could benifit from an on/off switch, but I can work around that.... ... I use this while puppeteering for video to keep my audio levels consistent. Typically, I rely on the boom to pick up varying levels of audio to later be replaced by a proper VO track. With this mic, I've actually been able to use the track straight from the mic on occasion, without having to record in the booth afterwards. Not the best quality but really, really good, especially for the price.
