I bought the SE215 to use in rehearsal and for recording. After about 10 days in my ears, I think they're worth much more than $99! Clarity, punch, dynamics... everything I'm looking for from an in-ear monitor. I appreciate the 2 types of sleeves (flex & foam) in 3 different sizes. I have switched them out a few times just to find what feels best. Excellent sound isolation. Fairly comfortable fit. I've been playing music for many years (since the 60s) and I record/edit audio for a living. If you want responsive, high-quality sound at a reasonable price, you won't be disappointed... no matter how much experience you have. ... More

I've had these earphones for a couple of months now. The cable is longer than typical headphones which I like so the earphones aren't constantly getting pulled on. The foam eartips seal very well and provide deep bass and smooth response on the high end. The cable material is not "sticky" like many lower quality headphones and is a bit thicker and tougher than other headphones. The over the ear pieces also help prevent pulling on the earphones themselves and help support them during high impact activities.

After read some review , i decided to buy SE215 to replace my iPod Gen 5 earphone. I replaced the tips with smaller size to make more comfortable .After Burn in 24 hours , I started to listen some jazz music (Smooth jazz and Diana Krall). Compare to new iPod earphone SE215 delivered more musical, wide sounstage and layer.Bass not too tight and deep but enough, listening music through this IEM become more fun. Busy SE215 is an easy step to improve your sound from your exsting gear, without spend lot of money.

I use for live performance with my ableton rig. Transparent sound over entire freq spectrum and sound isolation is also a plus. Work best when properly seated in ear--take a minute to read instructions and experiment with best fit. Additional foam inserts (S-M_L) come with phones. Other reviewers mention the need to adjust EQ settings--flat worked very well for me--experiment to achieve the desired result. Bass response is best when properly fitted. 6 foot cable and carrying case provided with phones, Extension cable recommneded if monitoring source is not on your person, or nearby.

First and foremost, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT buy these if you're looking for some earbuds that you will use for recording. The high end is very tinny and has a compressed quality that is good for a stage monitoring application. The bass frequencies are also a little flat, but well-balanced with respect to all other frequencies. They are a little heavy, and you can really feel them pulling down around your ears when you put them on. However, the design ensures that they will not fall out of your ears while you're playing on stage. I would highly recommend these for stage monitoring only, but not for everyday listening or recording. ... More

I own the SRH940 but since I got into video games I wanted something with more low end punch. After considering several options including the v-moda m-100, I decided to give the 215 a shot since they are less than half the price of the v-moda. Wow my video games took another dimension with these, the rumbles and crashes have lot more presence with the 215 compared to the 940. Now I'm not an bass head since I love my 940 but for some genres the 215 are definitively enjoyable. One thing I wasn't expecting was the isolation and these performed incredible well during a flight a took during the Holidays. Add to that the portability and now my 940 are strictly for home music listening. ... More

These are very cool!!! The mix is very detailed so I can hear anything I need to while playing live. They are also clear and fairly discrete so they aren't distracting. I love how the over-ear loop is moldable to my ear and head and the foam tips are GREAT (the rubber ones were not great). If I had one complaint it is that the headphones swivel very easily where they disconnect to replace the wires...If you take your headphones on and off during a live performance for different sections or songs it can take some practice getting them back in quickly. I solved it with some clear scotch tape so they don't move and I can easily loop them over my ear and get them on quickly. ... More

I bought these to use as a wired IEM system with a Rolls PM50S that I had also purchased at the same time. They sounded great listening to MP3's, or when used as IEM's for our first practice with them. However, a week later, when I went to use them again (after they sat hanging over the mic stand unused) I found absolutely no sound from the right driver, and only some very quiet high end sound from the left. I tried switching the L/R connections and the sound followed the driver, i.e. still no sound from the right driver, so it wasn't the cable. Checked with a multi-meter and sure enough one side was open, and the other showed a connection. At this point I grabbed another set of earbuds and used them for the rest of the rehearsal. After the rehearsal I looked online and found that apparently lots of people have had problems with drivers going bad on this model. Luckily Shure and GC are both really good about customer service and will replace them under their 2 year warantee, but instead of just replacing them with the same model I opted to go for the SE315 instead and see if they are any better. I'll post a review of those after I get them and use them for a while. ... More

I needed BlueTooth wireless earphones for my studio interviews. I selected these because it looked like they would be nearly invisible to the audience. They are. However, I tried them for a few days with my cell phone. They work fine, the sound and mic are excellent. They do a great job of blocking ambient noise so I can hear conversations better than ever. All that is good, but they are not comfortable enough to wear all day. Yes, they don't draw attention to themselves because the fit inside my ear. But after a few hours, I have to pull them out and go back the the comfort of my older earphones that sits outside my ear. ... More

After purchasing I tried them out and found My initial reaction was they sounded superb even though the fit would take some getting used to and was anxious to see how they performed on the plane.I was amazed how good they sounded and really pleased that I couldn't even hear the engine noise at half level. I was confident I made the right choice. Less than a month later and only my second time using them ( i bought them mainly for travel) the left ear plug was very low to the point I would have to take the right one to check it was on at all. So needless to say I am completely disappointed. I am yet to contact Shure and see if they will refund or replace them. ... More

I think I am finally getting used to putting the earphones in my ears. It can be complicated. The cable goes over and behind the ears. Good for stage monitoring but not that easy for casual listening, especially when trying to put them on walking down a NYC street. The cable is very coily. It would be nice if the cable was able to rest straighter like Apple headphones and others do. See pic. To the left is my ham sandwich. I have an ongoing issue with the connection to the right ear phone. It was cutting out. I detached the cable from the right earphone and re-attached it and it helped. I hope that goes away. ... More

I've used a pair of these for 6 years and they still sound great. The only problem I've had is earwax buildup that requires regular replacement of the tips. This was very frustrating at first but I just accepted it as inevitable wear and tear. If you're doing any kind of strenuous activity, the dirt, sweat, and wax are unavoidable at least for me (understandably so for a sealed ear connection). No problems with the over-ear attachment or with any of the cable wrap breaking after six years. Sound is bassy with a good seal but the highs could be a little better. Sound quality is still light-years beyond any comparably priced wireless earbuds, and these will pretty much never fall out. ... More

I have a fair amount of nice full sized headphones and I was looking for something that wouldn't disappoint me for portable use. I've used quite a few pair of cheap ear buds and IEM's and even had a set of Altec Lansing iM716's. All of the portable options I tried had the same feeling that the sound was right in the middle of your head. These Shures don't have that at all. The sound they produce sounds like it's actually coming from somewhere! These IEM's sound awesome, fit very nice, look very understated, isolate noise amazingly well, and provide amazing value for your money. Can't recommend them enough. ... More

I use these headphones primarily for playing on my church's worship band. They do a really great job blocking out all of the external sound while allowing me to clearly hear my monitor mix. I also use them to listen to music while mowing. The sound quality is better than your average Apple earbuds but is nothing compared to headphones with multiple drivers. I love how these fit in my ears. It takes a few times putting them in to get the hang of it but after that, the fit is sung and I can wear these for hours with no discomfort. These earphones came with my Shure PSM 300 wireless ear monitoring system. They didn't wow me, but they were fine. So when I accidentally stepped on my original pair i thought I'd try some less expensive earbuds instead. The few pair that I tried gave me distortion and poor performance. I ended up buying a new pair of SE215's to get acceptable performance. I find the SE215's to be a little thin with respect to tone and the stiffer wire that is to be shaped around the ear for stability doesn't quite do the trick. I don't see why these earphones should retail in the $100 range, but in my experience this is the minimum in quality that is acceptable for use with the Shure PSM 300.

I have used some SE215 for years with no problems, recently I picked up a new pair in May. It is what? December now. They are broken. Both ears have went out during live performances and this last Sunday they both completely went out. It just does not make sense. I paid over 100 for these, they should last years. I am obviously not looking for outstanding sound quality at that price, but I am looking for durability.

Running with these earphones, they fit surprisingly well and stay in. Noise isolation is great, sound is warm and spacious. Great improvement over the iphone buds. And, they look fantastic, not that it would be a decision factor. Do spend some time testing the different sizes of earbuds, fit is key for sound quality and comfort. On the negative, the cable is a little long, heavy and clunky (consideration if you want to do sports with them). The sound is missing a bit of detail and bite at the top of the spectrum. All in all, a very recommendable product.

After hearing and reading a number of positive reviews, I decided to give these earphones a try. Full disclosure: I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile but I have worn a variety of different earphone types over the years. The audio quality of these is fine. I wasn't blown away but I wasn't terribly disappointed. My issues deal with the physical design of this product. I wore them for about three weeks during which I was unable to get them to fit on my ear in a way that didn't make me want to take them out after a half hour or less. Even after watching tutorials on the manufacturer's website--- something that I have never had to do with any pair of earphones in my life, I was unable to attain a comfortable scenario. Given the price point, this kind of discomfort is ridiculous. Drug store earphones are more comfortable than these. Another mind-boggling design issue that I ran into was the length of its cable. Unless you are a professional basketball player (I'm 5'11), the cable is going to seem awkwardly long and constantly get in your way in new and inventive ways. I can't even imagine what it would be like to try to exercise with these. Walking around outside requires you to either tuck the excess cable into a jumbled mass in your pocket or else risk looking like you are skipping rope down the street. It was this unruly aspect of the earphones that ultimately led to the demise of my pair as they snagged on my own knees while walking. During the trip, they yanked my phone out of my jacket pocket onto the concrete (cool!), while the resulting whiplash pulled the earphones out of my ears and directly under my feet. Crunch! The little plastic tube connecting the ear-tips to the earphone snapped off like it was doing me a favor. Maybe it was. Good riddance. ... More

I haven't had a chance to fully put the SE215 through it's paces, but so far I like them. The medium sized earbuds that come on the unit fit me well. I haven't tried any of the other options yet, since these foam buds have been comfortable and block out most outside noise. If you haven't used this type of earphone before, they take just a short time to get used to putting them in and fitting them around your ear. My only complaint is that the malleable portion of the wire should be a little bit longer to wrap completely behind your ear. Other than that, they're great. ... More

I dig the idea of in-the-ear monitoring system and the "Shure SE215" system seems a good way to get into the game. For the price they seem like really good monitors, with no noticeable distortion in either of the ranges, I'm a drummer so I crank them up. Installing them in the ears seems a little tricky at first, (for me anyway), but once in I'm good to go, and it sure beats hauling around a big heavy speaker! Rage of the age to me.
