I nervously bought this mic as an all purpose mic. I was concerned about how it would do with feedback being that our band of six is consistently crammed into small spaces. It has done wonderfully! We just recorded a "live" demo and the mic never gave us feedback. It picks up EVERYTHING and my voice has never sounded so clear yet warm!

This is my second Beta 87, the first I got 30 years ago, still good but not quite as clear as it used to be, I keep it for backup. This is a stage condenser mic that sounds almost as great as a good studio condenser, You can use it as a studio mic, most people will never know it didn't cost $1,000. I'm too busy with work to go gigging now, but I used it a lot in the past as a solo singer songwriter, and will again in the future after I retire in '23. If you want great vocal sound, it's way better than the Shure 58 and every other dynamic mic I've ever met. Ten thumbs up! ... More

The Beta 87A plays well with live spoken and sung voice when a sound system is in use, and sounds good for recording too. My only criticism is that the optional foam windscreen lets too many pops through--but there are other choices for that which will work better. This is a high quality mic, with an extended, clear top end, good overall balance, low noise floor and plenty of headroom for loud sound sources. And it is very reasonably priced--a real bargain.

This mic was just what I was looking for and meets my needs. I have tried a number of mics to adequately pick up my voice without swallowing the mic. This one, finally, works for me. My voice is raspy and doesn't project well. Most mics will not pick up my lower sounds and with guitar playing it is hard for me to get up to the mic simultaneously. Very happy with this 87A.

I choose the first one to pick up the full texture of my particularly resonant bass/baritone voice. In a 3-microphone shootout, it was again selected for our drummer and backing vocalist. We appreciated the clarity and fullness of sound and are relying on the supercardioid pattern to reject drum noise. We will be using it for home studio recording and live performance.

Very transparent sound reproduction. Good gain before feedback. You are able to turn the volume up high before the mic feeds back. This sounds a lot more natural than even the beta 58 (which is still a nice mic) Cons: needs phantom power to work. (Which is also why it sounds so good; it is a trade off but worth it)

Been using shure mikes for 2,487 years. Never had a problem with shure mics. BOught two other brands - had problems with both of them. Use shure mics/don't have problems. This mic is excellent for all purposes.

It really is a step above my Beta Shure 58a, which I have been using faithfully for many years and also like. It seems to project more fullness and warmth. Now I just have to see if it will last the test of time and usage. I recommend it as an upgrade if you can spend more money. Is it worth an extra 100 bucks. For me , YES. I keep trying to perfect my imperfect vocals.

great condenser microphone for studio or band gigging.. I always use the condenser Shure microphones since my first with the discontinued Beta Green 5.0 microphone... They are very user friendly and sound terrific... rock on papatom/stratconnection

Now I wish I hadn't waited so long to try one of these great classics. I had been using an Audix OM5 and other usual suspects and was happy but the detail from this mic is studio condenser quality, but still with warmth. Highly recommended.

Just used this for a show at a smaller venue last night as a vocal mic. I would highly recommend. Easy to perform with due to its sensitivity and helps vocals stand out clearly in the mix. Didn't experience any feedback issues and was complimented by our sound guy on how it performed.

I didn't know condenser mic needs 48v to power up. At first, I thought I got the defective unit, until one of my friend instructed me how to proper use it. This mic has great sound, very good for worshipping at Church. I highly recommended.

I use this product in a worship setting with very diverse vocalists. I have found it is a very clean sounding mic, with little coloration over most of the frequency spectrum.

Clear sound, sounds great at 50% gain on my QU mixer, no feedback issues. I'm surprised a condenser can be that way, but I'm a believer now. Good value for a bar band budget.
