In the short time that I've owned this, I'm impressed. It feels, looks and sounds like a quality microphone. I've thrown a lot at it in a short amount of time, and it handles everything nicely. As mentioned before on here, it does pick up a little bit of noise if you happen to move the mic stand without a quality cable plugged in, but it's such a minor issue, I couldn't find fault with it.

I've always had a problem getting too close to an amp with a mic. It would make this weird screeching sound. But with the shure 55sh series mic I don't have that issue. Also it has excellent pick up. I don't have to worry about the sounds around me affecting my singing. Amazing product.

Buying a shure 55sh for a make me an offer price of $80 in any condition was a no brainer. It did need a little polishing and reconnecting switch wires which were previously disconnected. I cleaned the switch, hooked up the wires and wahla I have a $100 mike. Sounds great!

Great "Elvis" style mic! Clear unidirectional sound, easy setup (it threads onto a mic stand and it uses an XLR connection). I use it to make announcements and sing at live events.

Only problem occurs when you move this mic while its live you may get noise. I fixed this by getting a Kopul premium performance 3000 mic cable, they have 5 connector touch points on the female connection end so they don't lose their mechanical / electrical connection.

The sound was not great and very directional. Broke after very little use but SHURE was of no help and kinda rude. Seriously, this mic never left the house and got less than 100 hours of use. They just ignored me. They don't stand behind their products. Buyer Beware.

Used it for a production of Bye Bye Birdy for that vintage look and sound and it was great!

Solidly built and sturdy to withstand live performances. The vocal pattern (cardioid) is very good to allow for 2 people to sing together. Handles high volume without distorting or feedback. Classic looks too!

Perfect for video shoots, live theatre, and band gigs - it sounds great and surprisingly punchy and bright, with enough high end to make a female vocal sound lovely. I also think that some people just sing better when they're in front of a mic that looks like this.

I wanted that fat, old school sound and for my specific V.O. Application, I'm very satisfied. It's worth the extra cost for a genuine Shure product.

I needed this for a spoken-word video, and I had an old one laying around, but I decided to buy a new, working one, and I was very happy with the sound, and predictably, the look, of this mic, on camera.

Singers feel like this one is really cool. And it sounds great. If you reposition you definitely get different sounds.
