After dicking around with some cheaper mics, I bit the bullet and got this one and my only regret is I wasted money and gave my clients sub par audio for years. Shoulda just got this to begin with!

I use this mic for documentary production, and it's excellent as a short shortgun mic. The sound is a standard in the industry. The only challenge with any mic like this is using it indoors, it would be better with an omni, as it picks up a lot of background noise. At the same time, it all depends on the operator. Just had a 10 day shoot with it and am happy with the results.

Just the best choice for what I do. I'm a professional voice over actor and made the jump to this pro mic. You can't get any better. That's it. End of story. Buy one!

What can I say! Have used one for 20 plus years and it has never let me down. From hurricanes to run and gun the most durable practical shotgun mic out there.

I use this mic plugged into the Zoom H6 and I am very happy with the setup. It's better for outdoor use but can be used indoors in a controlled setting. This mic picks up everything. High quality build and high quality sound.

Honestly, I don't have anything to add here other that to agree with all the other reviews that praise this mic. If sound matters and you need a shotgun mic, then the MKH 416 is it! Drop the other mics - not this one!!

I've worked for a production company/rental house for 17 years. The MKH 416 boom mic was a rental staple. Durable with quality sound. Now that I am freelance, I had to have this in my arsenal.

I use this for sound recording mostly of documentary interviews. I find that this provides a fantastic option for interviews in that there is no noise you get from a lavaliere mic. After testing several mice in different price ranges, this is far superior and worth the money.

I use my 416 in my StudioBricks OnePlus for voice over work, and it is beautiful! I have had ZERO problems with it. It gives my voice a very warm, rich bass-y tone without any compression or EQ during post.

This is one of the best mics to use when you have little control over the recording environment. Because of its strong directional pattern, it ignores most room noise and focuses on what it's directed to hear. Excellent for recording on the road!

I recently purchased this mic on the recommendation of many of my trusted peers. I am SO glad I took their advice. I noticed a significant improvement *immediately* over my previous setup (an AT2020). The audio is crisp and clean with very little background noise. I sent a sample to a friend and she said, it sounds like your voice is floating on air. I would buy this mic again in a heartbeat.

This microphone is just phenomenal. Very sensitive, very crisp and a great over all sound. This microphone is a STAPLE in the Film and Television field. Standard and for a reason. Great buy if you can afford.

If I had to pick just 1 shotgun boom to use for all scenarios, in this price rance, this would be it. There are better sounding booms, and certainly some better for indoor use, but the combination of quality, versatility and durability make this an all around gem.

No wonder why this microphone is the industry standard. I recorded myself and listened and checked in Pro Tools with and without eq. It sounds amazingly better without any effects. So rich the dynamic range that it records with right out of the box.

This thing is unreal. I do a lot of video, but I'm not a audiofile so to speak. But this mic gets great quality sound when used correctly. Must have for a fiction set!

Used this in conjunction with the Beachtek DXA-SLR PRO HDSLR Audio Adapter and it worked perfectly. I was using a cheaper Audio-Technica shotgun before this and it's a night-and-day difference. Don't let the price scare you you'll truly getting what you're paying for.

I am a voice over professional and this is the only mic I will ever buy or recommend. Clean and crisp every time. THIS IS A BEST in show mic and B&H offers the best deals on it. Don't buy cheap knock-offs but the Real McCoy, Sen 416.

In the world of local station promotions, using lavs has always been the way we do it... Not anymore! This mic is great. It's very directional and does a good job of filtering out unwanted noise. Make sure to get a good windscreen.

I just purchased the Sennheiser MKH-416 a couple weeks ago from B & H and I am extremely happy with the quality of the sound that it records. A couple sound production guys from Hollywood recommended this microphone to me and I'm so glad that it is now part of my video production tool kit.
