Senal continues to impress me product after product, and their MC-24EL is no exception. If you're looking for a general purpose shotgun microphone, this should be at the top of your list. This guy is tough, sounds great, and, most importantly, affordable. For its price, the sound of this mic is on par with those 3-4 times its price. Using it side by side with its Australian and German counterparts, its hard to pick out a difference between them. You could use this mic in a variety of situations and it will handle them like a champ. Need to boom your talent for a shoot? Not a problem. Shooting ENG for a news station? This is perfect for those nats. Setting up a stereo pair for capturing the crowd or field in a sporting venue? These belong there too. Regarding build quality, these will take a beating. While not advisable in most situations, I have left these out in the field during a summer shower with nothing but a windscreen on it and they continue to work flawlessly, day in and day out. They aren't made of plastic, but instead wear a solid metal jacket that will certainly last a lifetime. It also has the ability to be powered by either a AA battery or 48v phantom power. This can be super helpful in situations where phantom isn't available. My only gripe regarding the MC-24EL is its finish. Its outer coating is a matte rubberized finish. While that may cut down on handling noise, it also makes it nearly impossible to put the included foam windscreen on it. I feel like I'm going to tear the foam to shreds every time I go to put it on. (Kudos to Senal for the tough foam, however. It is still holding up after a few months of this) All in all, the MC-24EL is a great choice for a dependable, all-rounder shotgun microphone. ... More

I Love This Mic But I Has Two Major Flaws The Senal MC24-EL sounds great and somehow manages to do it at a budget price. It's also very lightweight which is vitally important when you plan on booming the mic either on a mic stand or when using a boom operator. The MC24-EL also works on a both battery power and phantom power however this is where I have a couple of problems with the microphone. One of the issues I have with the Senal MC24-EL is that there is no power switch on the mic. When you put a battery in the MC24-EL it stays on until you remove the battery or that battery drains. This can be good in one way since you never have to worry about forgetting to turn on the mic and messing up a recording. The other issue I have with this mic is that there are no battery indicators on the mic so you never really no how much power is left and when you should switch batteries. This mic could be the perfect budget shotgun mic if it just had some buttons and a battery indicator. However, with those issues aside the microphone still sounds amazing. It's clean and natural and makes me sound like me. Also you get a foam wind puff, a mic stand mount and a carrying pouch to hold the mic when not in use. [I received this product in exchange for my honest review.] ... More

This is a great mic for the price no doubt. Compared with my at875r which costs about the same, I'd give the better value to the Senal. Running off of its own battery is the main reason I bought this mic and it's extremely helpful for my uses. Compared to the at875r I find the sound to be a bit duller but deeper bass. I think the trade is fair since the further you pull back a shotgun mic the more it tends to thin out. Off axis noise rejection is better is better in the senal as well as it's ability to pick up noises from further as one would expect with it being almost twice as long. My 2 big complaints are the lack of the power button and the provided case is too small. This runs off a battery, so the only way to guarantee it's not draining battery is unscrew the unit and pull it out. The provide carrying case for the mic is strangely not large enough. I have to shove the mic in with a lot of force to get it to fit and zip. It presses up against the edges of the bag really hard. The one last thing I wish it had was a 10db boost, but those don't seem to be common with these mics. All in all it's a great mic for how it's priced - it's a shame it seems so unpopular. ... More

At first I figured ok I was going to have some static or not performed as in the Product Video on B&H. Boy was I wrong!!!! 1. The pole and mic are super lite. 2. Assembles and less an a minute. 3. Production Value.... each time I pulled this bad boy out, clients would say, Wow... Hollywood! pulling out all pro-gear Going Big Time Now Oh, this serious 4. I filmed a client in a Noisiest and I mean the Nosiest Warehouse I have ever been in. I could hear my client as clear as day. On my Vimeo Page or Facebook Page you can watch and listen the Ads and Interviews from this year. 5. Super clean audio with no static or buzz. 6. Better than Wireless Mics... No Lavs, No additional Noise from shirt or tie rubbing on mic and most importantly No Popping! I will post some Photos from Interviews where its setup. ... More

I find the mic great with an XLR cable and my Zoom H4N Pro. Works good at 3' away horizontal (above camera) interview and better when it is closer and boomed overhead. I've used it indoors and out. I am very disappointed that the recording sound is subpar when piped into my Canon 77D or even when using the 3.5mm jack in the Zoom. Subpar, i.e., far worse than a $40 3 MOVO mic! Trying to be nice as I am actually a bit of a Senal fanboy. Could it be a bad cable? I'm not paying more to find out. I was really hoping the battery powered mic was a live option. I would have got the MC24 shortie if I had known that the XLR to 3.5 is utterly useless. To be clear: really good sound with XLR to XLR. ... More

How many Shotguns does a guy need? I have two, really debated getting the third one, but I like this one as it has good build quality, good sound for a very reasonable price. My comparable mics are the AT 897 and the Sennheiser ME 66. Based on experience, I always want the battery option and overall, this mic simply delivers clean sound. It comes in a box with foam, so you will need a case for it, eventually I bought a case to carry the three shotgun mics that I use.

I have a couple of differentmicrophones laying around and I use this one the most. The microphone has great quality, I really like it for studio work. In fact I was testing this back and forth with my NTG-2 and this microphone ended up replacing my NTG-2 in my studio work. Really great for the price.

I needed a mic for corporate-style talking head interviews. This is a really, really great sounding mic! I used it with a Tascam DR-60 MkII and it sounded very clean. Very low noise floor. It feels nice. The only thing I don't like it when you run it off battery power, you have to take the batter out. There's no battery switch.

Good audio is very important. This mic comes with a cable, boom mount, mic stand mount and case. The sound is quite clear and cuts out surrounding noise quite well. A good investment as a middle of the line product.

This shotgun mic has a very open sound with wide frequency response. I would advise using the foam windscreen (included) when direct-miking a speaker to avoid pops. It should not need it indoors when miked overhead on a boom pole unless there is air movement such as from a ventilating system.

Longer than expected but that's a good thing. Sounds great for the price and is very directional. Used it in a room full of echo and it canceled that out like it wasn't even there. Most likely going to buy a second one!
