I wanted to start creating some better sounding content for my YouTube, Facebook and other videos. I've had success with my videos and really needed to step-up my audio game. Many of my older videos sounded pretty echoey and sometimes the audio was washed-out with background noise. I needed a wireless mic. After doing some research I came across the Blink 500, I watched the product and demo videos. Three things appealed to me and stood out: lightweight, compact and easy-to-use. I did not want to be weighed down with a bunch of adapters, mounting gear and heavy components, and I also did not want to spend a week with my head in a manual, struggling to figure it out. Plus, the price for 2 wireless mics seemed too good to pass up. As always B&H had it in stock, when everyone else was sold out. My 1st impression was: Wow this is light and the whole system fits in my palm. That's crazy. When I plugged the receiver and turned the transmitters on, it just worked. No fuss, no reading the manual, nothing... I was off recording a video in literally a few seconds. The receiver added no real weight to my phone and that was filming as normal, except now I had two wireless microphones transmitting perfectly. As I got to use the system a bit more, I experimented with and without the lavs and a level controls on the transmitters. Trying to dial-in the best sound an get an idea how I am going to use these. While I do prefer to use the lavs, it is good to know that in a pinch I can just click the transmitter to someone's shirt. I also liked being able to use the transmitters like a handheld mic. Which is perfect for me when interviewing people on the street. Overall, I don't think I could be happier with this system. The mics sounds great, when using one mic, or two. It also doesn't weigh me down and I can always keep it with me for when inspiration strikes to make another video. It has significantly stepped up my audio for my videos and given me the flexibility that I wanted to create better content. People are already commented to let me know that my audio sounds much better than before. I am going to buy the Blink RX receiver soon too, so I can use these same mics with my soon to be acquired Sony RX100 mkVII. But I will have to wait until my bank account catches up with my dreams. Thanks B&H! ... More

While some might find it's capabilities limited, the Saramonic Blink 500 B4 Wireless Microphone System is a very useful tool that immediately increases the audio quality of any iPhone production. I purchased this system to pair with an iPhone Xs and DJI Osmo to produce Facebook Live broadcasts for the Museum where I work. CONCERNS LAID TO REST: Before I made my purchase, I read a couple of reviews detailing concerns of high noise. While there is a little bit of noise, it is noticeably less than what you hear on your standard phone microphone. The audio quality is very crisp and warm. As I find with most third-party products utilizing the lightning port, the receiver doesn't 'click' into place like Apple lighting accessories. I was nervous at first, concerned that the receiver would easily come loose, but after several tests the receiver remained secure and at no-time affected the audio, even with the vast amount of movements executed on the DJI Osmo. WHAT'S MISSING? You cannot meter your audio whether you're utilizing the DJI Osmo app to record video, the standard iPhone Camera app to record video, or Facebook/Instagram Live, but this shouldn't be a deterrent. I encourage users to take a few minutes to test their audio levels before recording/going live. FINAL THOUGHTS: I recommend the Saramonic Blink 500 B4 Wireless Microphone System to anyone who wants to increase the audio quality of their productions. It works extremely well with Facebook/Instagram Live, which is my primary use, but it is also a tremendous asset working out in the field. I have captured numerous off-the-cusp interviews with this kit, and they sound great. The set-up is very easy and quick, and the audio quality is a vast improvement from the standard phone microphone. This particular kit offers the option to record two sources with two microphones at once. As is standard, you have the option of recording with the clip-on microphone or plugging in the lavalier microphone ... More

Got this set of 2 lavs last week and used it for a conference. Connected it with my Olympus EM-1ii to record the presentation. Here are my observations: 1 lav - When used for a conference with one speaker, it worked flawlessly. The sound really came loud and clear. No background noise. However, as suggested, I lower the gain in advance to ensure the sound was clear. The transmitter (used by the speaker) has 2 buttons to adjust the gain/volume. I also adjusted the volume in my camera. 2 lavs - When used with a 2 speakers presentation, I had mixed results. The first 2-speaker conference had some challenges. Each classroom had a wi-fi router. When recording, I noticed that some times I could only hear partially the speaker. Bottomline, the recording cannot be used because the voice has blanks. I did notice that it mainly happened when the speaker passed in front of the wi-fi router. So I think there was some conflict with the 2.4 Gh. In this room. When I recorded the next conference, it was also with 2 speakers, but in a different room. That recording and the following one went flawlessly. So I think there was some conflict in the first room. These next recordings gave me more confidence with these lavs, however in the future I will make sure I test the setup in the room in advance to avoid these kind of situations. Overall, I am very happy with these microphones and specially for how affordable they are. Also because I can use 2 microphones with one receiver. ... More

Bought these mics and they seem to be working fine at first, then the inevitable happened...one of the mics lost connection to the receiver during an event. It wasn't the battery it was fully charged. Its always a little disappointing when this happens. Overall the quality seems fine, but a bit concerned about losing the connection in future events.

I am really impressed by the innovation of this product at this price point. Rather than try to replicated on the cheap the Shure or Sennheiser wireless systems, this has all the appearance of a new from-the-ground-up product. I needed to have 2 Lavalier microphones wirelessly connected to a small receiver that fits onto the camera hotshot, with a cable connection to the microphone in of the camera (Canon RP since you asked..). Each unit has built-in rechargeable batteries, they charge using a 5V USB C connection, and last more than enough time (hours) before re-charging is needed. This set has two transmitters that feed into the receiver as a single channel (mono) which is fine. Each transmitter has 4 gain settings. They are paired once and for all with their receiver, very easy to do. The camera has a headphone OUT socket, not really needed as the automatic level setting of the camera did a good job even with pauses and outside noise. The transmitters also have a built-in microphone if you do not need the quality and proximity of the Lavalier mikes. Everything was provided in the box, cables and all. Transmission is using 2.4 MHz, this may be an issue in a dense Wi-Fi environment, but I had no problems at home with tens of devices connected. ... More

I am all about quality and simplicity. These Saramonic lavs bring just that. Out of the box they were up and running in under a minute. I hooked it up to my iPhone since it comes with a TRD and TRRS cable so it works with camera or phone. I was really shocked in a good way with the size and quality of the units. They would be really easy to hide, the built in clip was a big help in mounting. I feel these units are a great run and gun set that is compact, super easy to setup with two transmitter for one receiver. You can throw these on your talent and record directly to camera or phone in no time. I'm very impressed with these! ... More

I had been shopping around for a wireless option to assist in creating content for my virtual photo classes. I was originally looking at the Rode GO which seemed pretty straight forward and easy to use, but then I came across the Saramonic Blink 500. The comparisons of the two options were pretty close, but I went with the Blink 500 because I got more bang for the buck! Having two mics with two lavaliers was a big selling point for me, as I now have the ability to mic my assistant or subject. I also did not have to purchase any additional cords to connect to my iPhone or laptop as everything I needed was right in the box. Using it with the iPhone is significantly bulkier than the Saramonic Lightning receiver option, but I like knowing I have the ability to expand upon this system in the future. I have used the Blink 500 directly on various Canon and Sony cameras, my iPhone, and my MacBook Pro all with clear audio results. This was a fantastic purchase for my needs. ... More

I was actually surprised at how easy it was to setup. I just inserted the receiver into my iPhone, pressed the buttons on the transmitters until they turned blue, and done! No channels to select or levels to adjust. The hardest part was taking everything out of the box! The sound quality is clean and best when the lavalier mics, (or the transmitters themselves as they also have built-in microphones), are placed about 6-12 from your mouth. I haven't run out of battery life on the transmitters yet, they say they last 6 hours before having to recharge them, but I am concerned about the fact that I can't easily change the batteries if they run out, so it's probably safest to just charge them before every interview. ... Torn between 3 and 4-but going with 4 for the fact that for the money-it sounds just fine, and comes with all the accessories you need (3.5 stars would be my best rating if I could) . Do not expect sterling studio quality or major broadcast news quality sound from this mic-but we all know where to go for better on that side of things (Senn...Rode...etc). For this price-the sound is acceptable. What is Not very cool is the actual latency of this device. There is a YouTube video up with audio example (search this mic and latency) -and, folks, its definitely a lot higher than the specs shown here. By my ears I would put it above 75ms, close to 100ms input latency. Not good for my case-getting online dance class teachers better sound for their classes. Things need to be On Top that beat! Some might not notice-and really its not terrible for a lot of things, and a sinch to fix in post. But if you gotta be dead on, in sync (under 30ms would be nice, wouldn't it?) and are live...expect this to fall evvvver so slightly short. Use at your discretion. ... More

Very pleased with the sound, considering the low price you can get better, but you would have To double your budget. They worked better with supplied lapel mics as the units without "flopped" about a bit because of their design. Apart from the price the ability to have 2 mics going into one receiver is really practical and very welcomed well done Saramonic. This was also my first overseas purchase from B & H the package arrive within a week and I was well informed through the tracking to here in the UK

We use it for quick social media videos, such as interviews or informational vids. We haven't done the dual setup yet, but for single it's been really good. We've used them both with lavs and without. Either way they sound fine. We do have a set of Rode lavs with our ENG setup that we have started using with these, and that has really helped as well. A few limitations so far, the distance is pretty limited. You are also at the mercy of your phone battery. The receiver goes through it pretty fast. For the iPhone, is your battery is less than 20-40%, it won't even power it. With that to say however, I've been advocating these to other people and definitely would buy again and continue to use. ... More

The audio quality (which is the most important issue for me) is good, but not exactly what I would define as great. I think the built in microphone (as opposed to the lav mic) is slightly better quality. The range of the mic and receiver is plenty long enough for my uses. I actually haven't tested its limits, but it seems to work fine up to at least 20 - 30 feet. My only concern is the sturdiness (or lack thereof) of the devices. Both appear to be pretty lightweight plastic subject to damage if dropped (I also haven't tested that function either...thankfully). ... More

Completely useless for live streaming. Overall annoying if you can deal monitoring the delay continuously. Maxed out the delay setting on the Mixpre II to compensate to no success. The latency is higher than 30ms maximum on the Mixpre. DO NOT BUY THIS SYSTEM, you'll end up losing money. Get a mid priced reliable system like the Senheisser G4 or Sony UWP-21.

For what this product is, and its price point, I'm completely STUNNED by the quality they produce! At $300 for a pair of lavs, this product is absolutely a no-brainer for those in the YouTubing space as well as casual vloggers. There's also a version that allows you to connect directly to your iOS device, and with the pricetag, you could totally purchase both before hitting the same cost as a pair of Sennheiser ew-100's. With that said, I will say the mic's seemed a little low in terms of volume output, but that's an easy fix in post (especially if you remember to capture some room tone). ... More

Works as advertised. Is very basic. Transmitters work about 4 hours until charge is needed. However, I have 2 negatives. 1). Hard to pair with receiver. Should be simple, but is very complicated. Maybe I have a bad receiver? 2). No way to track sound levels or if it is even working correctly. Am using for Facebook live-streaming and can only pray it is working and viewers can hear audio.

The transmitter works extremely well in picking up the client's voice clearly as well as that of the nearby child (not quite as loud) using the built in mic. There are different gain settings to louder the sound and the option to add an included lavalier mic to the transmitter for more localized sound pick-up. Each unit needs charging after 2 or 3 uses, is small enough to be unobtrusive, feels well built, and has built in clips for attaching. So far, I highly recommend it. ... More
