Despite selling this bundled with iPad USB adapters it is NOT a good fit. While it will function with an iPad/iPhone there is NO control over the mic's initial gain / A-D stage. It will input a signal with it's gain at full ... so if you are close to the mic or recording a loud sound, the signal will distort in the mic itself. Even if you wind down an App's record level you just end up with a lower amplitude clipped signal. The manual is clear that the only way to reduce the level of the mic into the AD converter is via USB from a connected computer ( eg Apple's Sound Control Panel ). iPad/ iiPhone *cannot* do this. Maybe Samson should release an App to do it?The Apogee MiC is better ( and more expensive ) option. It has a physical gain control ( no headphone out though). The Meteor works great connected to an actual computer. NIce sound good headphone output... zero latency monitoring. ... More

I used the Meteor Mic to record a podcast. The sound quality was excellent, with rich tones and consistent volume. I had previously used a headset with a boom mic and the results were not great. The Meteor Mic is a significant improvement, even though it's quite reasonably priced. If anything, it was a little too sensitive, so I had to isolate it from my desktop to avoid it picking up my mouse clicks.

Ordinarily, I don't write reviews because I am too lazy. I must add my comments here because this mic has an advantage which is overlooked by others. I owe this to Samson for making a great product. The Samson Meteor USB mic has outstanding sound for this price and works flawlessly. Other reviews mentioned this point. This mic, however, can save your broadcast for a reason that you might not anticipate. As it turns out, the software that matches this mic to your computer is fabulous. It saved me when my audio settings on my device manage were not set correctly for a typical plugin mic to work properly with the built-in mic jack. If you are using another mic that connects to your mic jack, and your computer settings are incorrect, just plug in the Samson Meteor and it will flawlessly override everything and work through the USB of your computer. It is a life-saver when you have to quickly do a live broadcast and your other mics are not working properly. I love it. ... More

i first used this mic when my music director lent it to me to record a v/o that would be played back during a musical theater production over the p.a. system. very easy to use and excellent quality pickup for all ranges of human voice. tends to record a little hot, so i trim it down in the daw. no trim on the unit. i have bought other usb(with a higher price point with more bells and whistles) mics since purchasing this little guy, but he is still my favorite. no weird artifacting or needing to return to mfg. i have also used it to mic a guitar cab with great results after a little experimenting with the positioning. i have used other samson products in the past with a high rate of satisfaction. dont let their afordable prices fool you, i would call their products professional, not pro-sumer. ... To start, I purchased this mic on sale. It came in the male on the expected date and had no blemishes nor was there damage to the packaging. I plugged it into my PC and recorded myself for a few trials on Adobe Audition. On playback, I could not notice any static or unwanted noise behind my voice. However, when playing times where I am not speaking at all, the faintest bit of fuzz can be heard. This is nothing noticeable unless being listened for and it is nothing that can't be fixed with a smalle adjustment of Adobe Audition's noise reduction process. My voice sounds clear and the mic does a good job of picking up every bit of intended emotion. I am genuinely pleased with what I received for the price. ... More

This is a great USB Mic thatpicks up audio from very far. We tested it today at a conference room and it was able to pick up on people whispering at the back of the room about 25ft away from the Mic. Has great range and gives a high proformance quailty to it. Plus the feel is retro and gives you an even more reliable feeling. I would so use this device at home and would recommend this product to anyone seeking a USB Mic.

I'm using this for recording with Camtasia screen capture software for training videos. It got me out of the laptop mic talking in a box sound. Quite pleased with it in all aspects. Sound, size, style - it works as expected and has improved the quality of my videos. It's compact enough to travel with, though it is heavy enough that I won't take it on business trips unless I'm certain I'll be using it.

Just get the Meteor Mic, and I will explain why this is important. I have so many mics, expensive setups, yet this unit stands on its own as the best because it is most dependable and reliable. Typically we rely on the headphone/mic jack to speak through our computer. I'm a broadcaster; my system has to work when I go live. At times, for whatever reason, the record settings and audio management gets screwed up for some reason that no one can explain. Aside from having great sound, this mic completely bypasses that whole-sometimes-annoying default system. This mic has its own pathway through your audio system that does not use your computer's audio jacks. This baby bypasses all of that and always--I mean always works flawlessly. Period. ... More

Excellent mic, had not used Samson products before, but needed a good USB mic to record a MOOC course being taught by me. Took much time looking at less expensive, and wayyy more expensive mikes, and settled on buying this one because it had all the specs of more expensive mikes yet was much less expensive. Well, this greatly exceeded my expectations, got everything recorded, and perfect! Needless to say, you need appropriate audio set up to avoid ambient sound.

The mic itself is amazing, I already knew that. I'm using it for streaming and my voice quality went from okay to amazing. Though, I'm more amazed by the shipping time. I got the mic in 9 days and I ordered it from Turkey! It came from USA to Turkey to my hands in 9 days! So, than you Samson and thank you BH for amazing service.

Okay, this is obviously not the voiceover mic of your dreams. Nor should it be...it's not intended for that purpose. It's a USB mic, and a reasonably priced one as well. And for what it is, it's fabulous. If you want something really fantastic, you need to get out of the USB game and go for the really expensive mics. But this, for what it is, is a reliable, good sounding tank of a mic. And bonus...it's cute looking. :) *side note: it sounds better if you put it on a boom arm with a shock mount. Not NECESSARY, but it improves the quality of the sound quite a bit. ... More

Purchased on sale for $40 and this performs great for gaming/chatting. Plug & play with no necessary tweaking outside of lowering gain in Discord or your respective app. Without a sale, its still competitive against the Yeti products just with less buttons. Classy look and rigid feel because of the metal. Yes it will pick up loud keyboard noise, desk banging - but that's a condenser. Keep it in front of your mouth with the keyboard behind it and it will serve you well. Might get an arm for it down the road if I go full cringe gamer setup. ... More

Purchased this as gift for my son who is focused on narrating videos he is making for school classes. High quality, great results considering price. USB makes this mic very easy to incorporate in video editing on laptop. Used primarily as a desk top microphone but has also been used as a mic on a table during interview with great results. May not be true studio quality, but very happy with results overall. Highly recommended for use with laptop

I was afraid that this white version offered exclusively by B & H was made out of plastic, but it is solid aluminum with a matte white finish. Looks much better in person than in photos.

I needed a mike that would offer a true sound without distortion and this one does it very well. I really don't have a negative comment about this product.

I'm a college instructor teaching online, and so have to present a professional appearance via video feeds. My students notice right away that I was providing superior audio when I switch to this microphone, instead of using the microphone built into my Logitech camera. My recorded content posted online sounds clear and radio quality professional. All, without breaking the bank.

I have used it for several performances and it has always delivered. I recorded a choir concert in a large church with 6 musicians. It did a great job on solos, the choir, percussion and a string bass. We were even able to make a CD that sounded very respectable. If you want to use it on the Ipad, you need the Mac camera adapter. I bought one and gave it to a musician friend for her birthday.

We use this product for University lectures for online courses. Normally, for mics of this price point, you would receive a lot of background noice, plosives, etc. This had none of those, but had a richness and warmth that I haven' heard from this type of computer mic. Highly recommended.
