I use this at my job for a school district. The cord is really long which is nice because you never have to worry about where you are at for interviews. There is rumble or hiss noise if I hook directly into the 5d Mark III. That is why I give it 4 stars. My work around that is having the Tascam Dr40 mounted on the top of the camera and I use that as my camera mic. I can then hook the lav mic into the Tascam. When I make the volume really low on the camera and really high on the Tascam then the lav sounds great. ... More

Sounded great for the price. The pre-amp in the Canon 5D is a bit noisy, so not much this mic can do to offset this. Although, the signal is nice and hot, so the audio level on 5D when set to manual mode can be dialed down to about 50%. This works great for interviews.

Perhaps spend a little more money and buy something that would really work. I purchased this to hook up with my voice recorder since I often need my talks to be recorded. Unfortunately, this device doesn't allow me to speak freely. It literally has to be placed very close to mouth and then the mouth has to be facing the device. Otherwise it doesn't pick up my dictation. So, I cannot turn my head while attempting to record. Makes it very unnatural for me.

This lav mic is just what I needed for a small video production. It is well constructed and should hold up to periodic use. Very good value for the price. Daily use or more advanced users might find it lacking. As always know your use and pick the right equipment for your needs. this is a very good corded Lav mic. The 20-foot cord will give me enough length and can be wrapped if needed for use with a mobile set up. Great sound and noise attenuation make it worth the small investment for my needs. Don't overestimate it and you should be fine. ... More

Don't expect studio quality sound but works well in a pinch. Using it on a 5DMK2. Love the extra long cable it comes with. Definitely best use for it is in a controlled environment where one can control background noise and take the time to adjust levels. For sure not for use with a run-n-gun type set up (go wireless or shotgun for that).

This is a nice budget lavalier mic for general use. The sound and build quality are good. It picks up mid tones nicely. So far I have not noticed any hissing during silent pauses in speech. I have used it outdoors and, when placed properly, does a fairly good job of isolating my voice from ambient noises. That includes ocean waves crashing onto the beach. The cord is long, almost too long for my purposes. But the length of the cord makes it perfect for informal studio settings where the speaker is stationary. I would recommend this mic for in studio use. ... More

I am a pastor and I bought this microphone to record sermons onto an mp3 audio recorder. I went with this mic after my old radio shack mic died. I was very disappointed. The sound quality was really bad with a lot of background hiss. As an audio novice, it could have been operator error but I have never had these problems before. I returned this mic and started using another. Problem solved. The cord was also far too long for my use. I had to stuff a huge coil of wire in pocket.

Im a DSLR filmmaker and this mic is pretty good for the money.Good pick up, (but does pick up a good amount of back ground noise) Its biggest down seize is the high shelf noise (high frequency hum) which is a bit of a pain to be honest. But for a $mic, you cant complain very much. Not a good piece of equipment for a super polished job, but good for 90% of the rest of shoots. hence the 4 stars.the 20ft cord is great. Plenty of room to work with. The design of the 'on/off' switch is a little weird because of a odd amount of cord before and after it. ... More

I've used this mic for simple video projects such as web blogs. For as inexpensive as it is, it sounds good. The mic itself is a nice small lav, so hiding it for video work isn't an issue. I used it with a prosumer grade video camera that didn't have xlr audio inputs, so having the 1/8 mic cable makes it easy to use without an adapter or preamp.

Incredible good sound for interviews at an incredible price. Long cord is good for tele shots but can be a big ammount of cable to store. I prefer to have that cable when needed. Overall it is very light and compact, particularly compared to a wireless set. You can take it in your DSLR camera bag and be ready to unexpected shots. I use it with the Azden ECZ 990 and have the full range ready for the shot.

I purchased one a few weeks ago just to try, and when I tested it and heard how nice the sound was, I immediately ordered another one to have with me. I now have a backup for my first one or a second lav to use with a dedicated mixer. Don't forget that each one is stereo, so if you have the need for just one good mic, you can rely on it filling both channels without the need of a stereo adapter or Y cable. Comes with battery, phone plug adapter, 20 foot cord, mic clip, and foam screen.

I searched forever for a decent but entry level stereo lapel mic. I had to settle for a mono that gave subpar quality recordings. When someone suggested this I had to check it out but thought it couldnt be stereo or was an inferior. With recomedations from reputable sites, I ordered. Very pleased with this. I use it with my camcorder and the sound quality of my videos is great. I cannot beleive how an external mic makes 200% difference to the experience of the video. I like many are on a tight budget, but want to start off looking pro-like. This is a must. Thanks! ... More

I was looking for an audio solution for indoor use with a DSLR in a quiet environment, but with sound too far to use a shotgun mic effectively. I was intending to purchase a much more expensive mic, but the knowledge and always helped staff at B&H recommended I try to this inexpensive solution...and, it worked. While this is not a studio grade solution and it does have issues, it does perform about as well as some alternatives that cost over $100.

I have no complaints, have been using the microphone for about a week. It records well into my Edirol and clips nicely on to the collars of folks I am interviewing. The cable is long but I've kept it rolled up. I throw equipment around a lot recording solo in the field making a documentary and I feel this is a good mic for all purpose use. Having to use the small battery is a slight downside (more moving parts lead to more mistakes) but so far I have not forgotten to turn in on or off.

I normally order my gear from the internet since the grade and price of gear at B & H always seemed to exceed my tight budget. For some reason I had it set in my mind that B & H only carried high-end professional gear, but I was indeed wrong. Their selection appeals to any and every level of film maker. This lav works wonders for the price. It's durable, clear, and lengthy. Hello clear formal interview audio. I'll be going to B & H much more for my gear now.

This is a great littlw mic for interview situations and a good mic for PC gaming or chatting. Great price, I love the long cord as it gives you plenty of room to connect the mic to your recording device. B&H service was great and the peoduct arrived right on time! The only reason I gave it 3 stars is the mic picks up alot of unintentional sounds. You need a very quiet area and it can even pick up sounds from another room. The actual sound quality is excellent.

I've been looking for an economical Lavalier microphone for a while now. I rarely do video work, and when I do it's mostly closeup interview stuff, so this fit the bill perfectly. I've only used the microphone once so far, and it worked just peachy! My only complaints are that the battery compartment was a bit tricky to get open, and the little tiny microphone afro wind screen fell off and got lost the first time I used it. But that's just me nit picking - it's a good product.

I used this product during a market research interview. The two subjects came through loud and clear. There is a long chord attached, so if you are looking for wireless, this isn't it. If you are looking for good sound without spending a fortune, you should try these. I do have one warning. I bought 2 of these, and one had a short in the chord right out of the package. I'm glad I had the spare, as I didn't have time to exchange them.

I've been using this product to record actors' auditions and it works very nicely. It clips on subtly (or you can tape it to the chest to hide it even more), and records audio crisply. The only downside is the cord, which has to plug directly into your device. Nevertheless, it's a cheap and quick alternative for my minimal sound needs.

The microphone works well. I found it to have some hissing when the audio sensitivity settings were set very high, although they don't need to be set that high to pick up good clear audio. I tested it with my Nikon D5300.
