I had a 416 hanging for years but recently wanted to try a LDC in the booth for a while. After trying the c414, e100s, U87, I chose the TLM 103. It sounded every bit as good (although slightly brighter) as the u87, but with less noise. While I'm sure I'll be using the 416 on an equal amount of jobs, the TLM 103 has found itself as an equal, and a for sure forever microphone.

Very good modern presence, clean, bright but smooth. It definitely has that Neumann sheen/character, which I love. On my specific voice (low-mid with some natural sibilance) it works better than a U87. I’ve used/owned Sony C800g - Neumann U87 - AKG C414, Manley Reference mic, AT 4047 and others. The only mics I prefer on my voice is a Sony C800g, Telefunken ELA251 and a Neumann U67. Which all cost about 8-10 times more than this mic. I personally haven’t found anything at this price point I like better.

This microphone has a smooth, but realistic sound. Outstanding quality for the money. After testing it out in a range of musical situations with instruments, vocals etc. I'm afraid my other condenser microphones are not as good as I thought they were and may not be used as much when having this one. It don't have low pass or high pass filters built in, but I much rather have a good microphone than having a less good one with a lot of bells and whistles. Highly recommended!

This is the perfect mic for voice-over. It's crystal clear and warm for female voices. At least with my tonal voice, it fits me just right. I was debating about going cheaper when it came down to choosing my first XLR mic but these days if you want to be competitive in this crowded industry - there's nothing wrong with upgrading to one of the best mics in the voice-over industry. You won't be disappointed when you buy this mic. I certainly have no regrets! I love my TLM 103 and I'm never going back to my old USB mic ever again. ... More

This microphone is the mack daddy for vocals. I've had a studio built and was looking for the perfect microphone. After going through multiple mics, I was in the brink of giving up until I took a chance with this and purchased it. Glad I did, because this is one is versatile and does not break when hitting the high notes. Crystal clear and there are no boundaries. For 700 bucks? It's a huge bargain !! Phenomenal indeed.

The TLM 103 is hands down the most used mic in my cabinet, my swiss army knife if you will. It is by far the quietest mic I own as well. Fades of any track recorded with it fade into silence without much editing. The bottom is very detailed while the top shimmers like moonlight on an alpine lake. If a stereo pair are ever offered by Neuman, I will of course be an owner. There are no cons to owning this great mic IMHO. - N.J. - Gem-Tam Music

As long as I have been in the voice over business I have wanted a Neumann. I decided this was a career changing tool and I have never been more pleased with a product. The specs of this mics are very impressive. The ability to capture natural highs and lows without any coloration are pristine. Whether you mic your work 3 inches away, or use it for singing vocals 3 feet away, the TLM 103 provides such a warmth and resonance that most condenser mics cannot. It is now my favorite tool for this business and the important tool I used. ... More

I said MY Neumann TLM 103 because this mike is MINE for keeps. Does that make things clear? I'm a happy pappy because it makes me sound great. The big pro is it picks up everything. The only thing about that is, it lets you know what else you need to do to make your soundroom quiet enough to match this mic's ability to capture the true excellence of your voice when you're speaking naturally and without tension. I'm also German, so yeah, I may be a little biased.

Great mic, nice and warm. It treated my D-28 just as I had hoped, and didn't give me an exaggeration of the deep low-end it already has, but just balanced, mellow, and from the gut of the guitar. All the response comes off crisp and well articulated, with a hint of color (something chesty, more masculine) noticed in vocals, but of the kind I would dial in anyhow because it seems to spread a warm blend that fills in solo performances thin spaces.

I have the Neumann "hand held" KMS 105 and I love it for live performances. But in our new world of "online" music, I wanted something to record, and one where I could play and sing with a little more forgiveness with my movement - this mic is perfect! I don't have to be right up on it, the sound is consistent if I move a few inches around it as I play & sing. All I can say is it sounds incredible!

My experience with the TLM103 has been terrific. Used both for voice-over/lead DX, to the main mic on an acoustic guitar. There is a clarity with the 103 that resembles the Akg414 series -and in my experience so far-has surpassed it. Really great "s" sounds, and best when run through a clean pre-amp.

No one needs to sell the Neumann TLM 103. It's the best of the best, next to the U87 (which is just too expensive for us mere mortals). The TLM 103 is the last microphone a Voice Actor or Singer will ever need to buy. It lives up to the hype. The brand shock mount it comes with is a perfect addition. The case was unnecessary and overkill, but maybe it'll be of use one day. If you're on the fence about mics, just buy this one. You won't ever need another.

Very happy with my purchase of an excellent condition used TLM103 with associated shock mount. My experiences with Reverb have always been great. I use the mic primarily for vocals and I love the presence that the 103 brings to my voice. Nice clarity and not harsh as some say it is. Looks like the 103 will be my new go-to vox mic in my locker.

The TLM-103 is truly the very best for crisp voice-overs and delicate sound reproduction. I have a plethora of good-quality mics - but none come close to the warmth, clarity, and shine of the Neumann TLM-103. You simply can't go wrong with this mic! And oh yes... I would be happy to mention some 'cons' - if I could think of one!

there is no one mic for all voices or instruments...BUT this mic serves me well for voice over when i need an extremely realistic reproduction of my voice...I still use a Blue Baby Bottle for that slightly hyped accenting, mainly video games,etc...the TLM 103 built well, looks great (black) and i wouldnt hesitate buying a slightly used one if you are searching...

Having gotten pretty big into the Voice Over world, I finally took the plunge and upgraded from a $200 AT2020. It was well worth it - you don't fully realize the difference with a cheaper mic until you switch over. Rich quality, much warmer, and better at blocking out unnecessary noises. Couldn't be happier.

W/ Focusrite. Clear, crisp sound and plenty of gain so no Cloudlifter or anything necessary. However, that is also a con. With the gain on the Focusrite turned all the way down it still clips so I had to adjust the input gain on the DAW also. But, I'm very happy with the mic and the quality of it's sound
