No disrespect to Yamaha or Mackie, but this mixer (at half the price) CAN keep up! I pushed it pretty hard for 2-hours (minus soundcheck) and it held up nicely! I'm sure someone who owns an Allen & Health analog or a Soundcraft analog will go on and on about how their 10-channel is superior to this 14-channel (that's becuase they paid twice the price for less inputs!). I'm saying give it a shot.... Guitar Center has an excellent return policy if it doesn't work out for you. I am 100% satisfied!

Okay, I've been a musician (mostly guitar and singing) for 20 years or so. I played in bands in HS but not since. I have however taught two of my kids instruments, so I have a band trio to play with ;). This device has taken our sound quality to a new level. I was a little nervous that it would be too big for our use (size and utility). Glad to say that despite being 14 channels, this thing is rather compact (kept the wifey happy...she thought I was getting another piece of large equipment). Glad I went for the 14 channel and not the smaller one. We use an electric guitar, bass guitar, electronic drum set, and microphones for vocals. Bass and drums are plug and play, and I love that I can eq each parameter to my ear. For guitar, I'm using a solid state amp, that I run straight into the board. Bass and drums sound great! Guitar sounds better through the guitar amp. Not sure if its how the mixer is processing the signal, or if its the amps output. I suspect its the amp, which doesn't quite emulate the headphone sound quite as well as the built in speaker does (line 6 spider). But, my sound is very well balanced, and I love the sound all coming out of one speaker (Peavey KB amp). Where I was really blown away was the USB audio output. I like to make FB videos of me playing with my sons to post. Audio quality is poor when I use the phones built in mic. But, with this I can plug the USB right into my phone so the only audio it records with the video is what is going through the mixer. With the added built in effects to vocals, the sound quality blew me away. Perfectly mixed and zero noise. So far I'm really liking the world of mixers, and this has improved the sound quality of our live performances. What more can you ask for? I agree with others that they should have put an on/off switch on the device, or at least somewhere on the power cord. Annoying to have to plug in every day. That's about the only negative I have. I have not tried the interface yet. ... More

First, full disclosure. I got a really good deal from Musicians Friend. Cost was definitely a factor when I got it. Also, I haven't had much time to work with it, so maybe I'll change my review in the future. I picked up this mixer for 2 reasons. 1. I wanted to use it as a sub mixer for drums, so I needed a lot of mic preamps. 2. I wanted to use it as a main mixer for a PA at small gigs. I've really only gotten to the testing stage with this mixer so far. Maybe this is a bit unfair, but I'm comparing it to my Presonus Studiolive mixer. Price wise, the Studiolive is in a completely different ballpark, so I apologize in advance for comparing the two, Unfortunately, it's the only other mixer that I have to compare the Harbinger with. My assessment - the mixer works and will do what it's designed to do. The mic pre's work with phantom power and Shure Beta 58's, but I'm hearing a lack of headroom. With the Studiolive I can crank the mic sensitivity a bit and get very nuanced vocals. I'm practically cranking the sensitivity of the Harbinger all the way, and I still have to crowd the mic to get my vocals heard. The good part of that is it will fight feedback really well. Also, I found the onboard effects to be a little lacking. Again, I've been spoiled by the lush, transparent effects of my Studiolive, so I'm rather biased. I'll also admit that I didn't go through all of the effects, but I did sample the reverbs and the delays. They're adequate for a small gig, but they're not going to impress a discriminating crowd. To wrap up - with my limited time that I've spent with this mixer, I feel that the functionality is there. It's a nice little compact mixer with usable effects. I just wouldn't use it for a high end gig with an audience that expects a top of the line audio experience. ... More

This unit is better than I expected for my use. I was looking at Mackie's and Yamaha's but saw this would fit my needs for much less. I needed to expand the number of inputs into my Bose PA system and this worked out great. I wished it had an on / off switch, and the power unit converter on the power cord gets very warm

At 2/3rds the size of the 10 channel Berringer I was using, this board is far superior. The Harbinger 14 channel with built in effects uses a USB output to go into my computer and is recognized by my recording software, I am using a inexpensive external SPDIF coaxial sound card to send my end product to my coaxial input to record on my CD burner deck. The Berringer needed an M Audio/Delta 66 interface with a SPDIF sound card with coaxial in and out and supporting software to work with my recording software. A great item for the price!

This 14 channel mixer was great for the first 23 months. Used it about 15 times; stored properly and moved around in foam lined metal case. Then the FX gave out--completely dead for no reason. Thankfully I purchased 24 month Pro Coverage from GC. Same thing happened to previous mixer--a 10 channel Alto. Guess I need to go with Yamaha or Mackie. Also, for live sound, your band will soon outgrow this mixer, not only because you will need more inputs with multiple singers and micing drums, but because there is only one monitor output, so you cannot vary the mix across multiple monitor speakers. Also, no mute or solo feature per input. Would probably be fine for a home studio. For a typical band playing live, you will need more features. ... More

Overall, this mixer is great. Having owned it for 2 years, I can safely say that is a nice mixer. It is good for rehearsals, but you can outgrow this mixer easily. If you are playing big live shows where you'll need to mic drums, then this isn't for you. There are a few issues... the first problem is one I experience more frequently than the rest... randomly there is a hum that will go through my speakers, even with nothing plugged into it. It stays in the same location in the same outlet, sometimes it's there sometimes it isn't, and there is no way to get rid of it when it's there. 2... the effects randomly die. I don't know why but they just do. I've found the way to fix is to unplug and plug it back in. I would shut it off with the power switch or button but wait! Problem 3, there is no power switch/button. May I ask why? I don't plan to have this on all of the time... even the most basic electronic items have this feature... except things like refrigerators... And that has every excuse not to have a power switch! Include one next time. It makes having an ADJ power strip where I can turn off individual outlets all the more pleasing... With those 3 issues out of the way, it is a great mixer. Very easy to use and intuitive. ... More

I opened the box today and having never used a mixer before read the manual, It was not as informative as I would have liked. I suppose if you are a pro or experienced person this unit would be a piece of cake. I spent about 3 hours and figured out how to set it up with my system. I'm sure there was an easier way but I did it. After that I was able to do what I had needed. Connect mics and 2 computers. The USB is not what I expected, I thought you would be able to plug in a thumb drive with music on it and play it while on break. It seems well built and should last. I will fine tune as I get used to it. I am not unhappy with the unit and once mastered it will be how did I ever get by without it. I could have talked to customer service but it is Sunday, I will give a call later to go over I am sure they will be able to answer all of my questions. ... More

I recently bought all new equipment. It had to be pro gear, small and lightweight. I bought the Mackie ProDX8 but sometimes the Bluetooth would cut out so I bought the Harbinger LX1402. First off it is Twice As Loud without distortion. It has 4 Must Have features, HPF, 2 Aux, FX, and Pan. Most small mixers have 4 XLR ch and the rest are 1/4in. This one has 8 XLR ch and 2 stereo 1/4in. It's EQ is very useable. The FX is ok, you have to work with it to find something good. But to be fair it's about the same as my Mackie and my Behringer XENYX. Some extras, it has Phantom power, all 8 ch have HPF, Tap FX (big) for those of us who use it. No on and off switch (so what) and a wall wart (I hate those things) but that's why it's so small ... More

I bought this mixer because it has a very reasonable price and has 8 XLR inputs. I have another mixer I use most of the time, but when I need additional inputs, for outdoor shows, this is a nice way to supplement the sound.

I wish it had an on/off switch and mute buttons. Other that that, I've used it for one show without any issues. Hopefully that remains the norm for many more years of use.

I bought two of these mixers, one for the studio and one for playing out. Both were returned due to a loud hum. I have several other mixers, and switched them out along with all other pieces of equipment that could possibly be causing the noise. It ended up being something internal in the Harbinger mixer. Not recommended.

I bought two and had the same problem with both. They had an annoying hum. I swapped out every possible component that might have been the source, but it was something in the mixer. I have a few other mixers that do not hum. Not recommended. No customer service because it is a house brand.

I wanted to get a newer mixer and not spend a lot. I have other Harbinger products that work great. I was disappointed when I hook up my iPad to play my backing track and got a lot of cracking. I had to turn the gain way down and struggled to get a decent volume and sound from my iPad. Everything else sounded great through it so I'm not sure what is up with the iPad.

We needed a dedicated channel for monitors and that single aux channel was exactly what we were looking for. Being able to pick and chose from our 6 mics and have an adjust for each Mic in the mix was great. That was the main reason for upgrading. Happy as can be.
