When I first saw the price for this thing I went straight to guitar center and checked it out. I took it home and hooked up to my computer and it worked great with my garageband recording software. Everything worked incredibly and there was nothing wrong with the mixer. If you want a small mixer and your on a low budget get this mixer because even if you can afford the best, you should buy this because it is the best for anything.

ATTN: THE XENYX 502 DOES HAVE PHANTOM POWER! It provides 15 volts across pins 1 and 2, which is enough to power most condenser mics. YAY! Aside from the sticker on the box and the 15v DC across pins 1 and 2, you'd never see it (no phantom switch). Perfect for putting a little kick drum (etc.) into the bass amp. PROS: Low noise (turn all unused channels down), affordable, compact, works every time, durable chassis, lightweight, versatile, cute, survives the rigors of countless gigs. Cons: POWER LED TOO BRIGHT (window tint fixes this), no power switch, outboard transformer cords prone to fatigue, plastic shaft pots, screws tend to loosen under heavy use. Reliable, quiet, simple, small, good value! ... More

i have bought 3 of these in my life one when i was 16 and into thrash metal the second when i was doing acoustic and softer vocal work and the last when i was starting to get into production and electronic music. No matter what your genre is this will be the tool for a simple setup or a beginner. if your not familiar with the way mixers are described this one is called a 5 Chanel mixer but just so you know only the first Chanel lets you fine tine the inputs low middle and high frequencies. the other inputs are separated into left and right channels meaning you really only have 3 inputs in this mixer. also take care of the power cable because it cost more to replace the cable then to buy a new unit. ... Beyond pleased with this little unit. At first I used it just to provide an analog adapter between my Peavey Ecoustic 112 EFX and laptop for recording a couple of songs. Then when my 15 foot USB to IEEE1394 (could be wrong on the number, but it's the USB printer cable for a number of popular printers) arrived, I got bold and decided to do a couple of digital recordings going straight from the mixer to my laptop and recording with Audacity. To begin with I downloaded a Behringer driver from RecordingStudio9.com. I understand that Behringer no longer makes these drivers available. No problem, though. RecordingStudio9 has the complete package free with excellent instructions. I was delighted to find that when I started Audacity, the Behringer driver immediately showed up in the pull down input list for recording. I could tell you a lot of stuff about recording with the little mixer using free Audacity but I will give you a link to my video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTCdJokJIBk&feature=em-upload_owner. Needless to say, I used the Xenyx preamp input for my Rode M1 mic and one of the passive inputs for my Inlaid Artist archtop guitar. Copy and paste the link I gave you and you will see the little mixer captures every ugly and embarrassing detail of my song. Now, if you're good, you have nothing to worry about. ... More

I bought the Berhringer Xenyx 502 mixer, got home, hooked it up to my dell laptop, and I love it, I'm running cakewalk project 5 version 2, and for such a small mixer it works very well, perfect for novice recorders or personal recordings. along with the midi controller I am able to play guitar, bass guitar, and mic my drums and have great recording quality. So if you are "not" looking to spend a bunch of cash on a mixer but you still want good sound guality, then I strongly suggest buying the behringer Xenyx 502 mixer.

I was just looking for a small mixer to hook my son's drums to my keybaord and just for a nice balance in his room. Boy... was I impressed. I can also hook to my tape deck and get some good tracks to upload later and put in a mix. He's 10 and loves being able to contribute. I have a Behringer Eurorack Pro RX1202FX and knew this little guy would be well worth the price. I'm happy I got it as an addition to my studio. If you're lookiing to put together a couple instruments together and add a vocal too....this is it !!! The quality is way cool for the price. ... More

I manage/record a band and this mixer is perfect for me. Make sure that the amp you are using has two inputs, though. This mixer cannot have a mic and a regular input at the same time. Otherwise it is absolutley perfect.

i primarily use this to run backing tracks to a PA and headphones, while playing live. It works very well for this purpose, and there are even a couple inputs left to add anything else i might need to mix through it. It is pretty solid in construction, and the volume controls are very good. It could use a more "solid base" (tends to slide a little at times.)

I use this for my house of worship and I use it almost every Sunday. I love it. The Pros of this mixer is the fact that it very very quiet and it is very affordable. The Cons of this mixer is the fact of no switches on t as in no phantom power switch and a an actual power switch. But, overall it is a nice little mixer and fr the price it is great.

Feeding this little mixer several inputs (Drum buss, metronome, main mix) for the drummer to control his own headphone mix. It's working out great.

This little board is essential for anyone running a small home studio. I use it for gain staging my guitar and bass and mics, and it’s proven itself indispensable in this role. It’s easy to connect and use , and its affordability makes it a must have for any small scale home audio recording system.

I use this product at my church as I begin to start running loops/click tracks with the band. This mixer has been more than sufficient for the purpose in which I use it. Lightweight and easy to pack for those who would need an easy, on-the-go portable mixer solution. I also recommend this product for those who are just starting out and to those who have a tight budget. Worthwhile Investment!

There is no on/off switch Need to push power plug to make contact. When plug in make sure the LED in on. Initially, I did not see the LED on when first plug in. I've used a std power strip in place of on/off switch to prevent plug and unplug the power supply cord Overall, it's a good investment with the price

What I needed was a preamp, but those are expensive. This also allowed me to do some mixing too, before feeding to the webcam.

Replaced the same model for doing play-by-play announcing at our school's athletic events. Moderately priced and picking up the unit at the south Lake Union location was easy, especially since they have free parking on the roof--rare in Seattle, especially in south Lake Union!

I would have to say this is a beginner mixer because it is only a mic, guitar and 2 other inputs but other than that it is better than the Nady MM-242 I was looking at. Good job, Behringer!

Had one of these for a bit under two years. It just died after light use -- even with nothign plugged in, if I power it up the input meters flatline somewhere in the yellow range. I'm glad it wasn't plugged in to anything when this happened. I can't complain about the mixer's performance while it worked... but now, it doesn't work.
