I use these headphones for both music playback on my PC and as monitors for a podcast. In both cases I have it hooked up to a Yeti Mic. I like the sound quality out of these headphones. I also have had many headphones that were not comfortable but these seem to be better than ones I have tried before. I wore them over an hour and a half without discomfort. Audio Technica is known for making good headphones. A friend recommended these to me and I am happy with the purchase. Thanks B&H.

Have this for a week. Instantly, I can hear the differences from other generic headset I've been using. Each instrument, note, can be hear crystal clear and so 3D suddenly. Great pair of headset in budget price!

I'm not a professional voice-over person, but with the COVID-19 situation, I occasionally need to make videos instead of in-person technical presentations. I got tired of cleaning up my plosives and siblings using just my MacBookPro speakers (pretty good for a laptop, but ...). So, I looked at many reviews for a reasonable priced set of headphones to do the trick and settled on the Audio-Technica ATH-M40x. I am super happy with my choice - nice clean, crisp and as promised a relatively flat response, which made my clean-up work much much easier. They sound good for general music listening too - even though that was not my purpose for the purchase - nice side benefit. ... More

These reproduce the sounds from my keyboard very well for my ears. The ear pads are not comfy for hours of use and the tension could be a tad lighter. Worth what I paid for them.

B&H shipped my ATH-M40x almost overnight and packaged beautifully. As for the M40x... wow! I am no audiophile by any stretch but i have had my share of bad headphones. These are are far the best i have owned. I know i for one will never go back to using a headset with my PC ever again.

Purchased the factory reconditioned set recently and absolutely love them! Other that the box being plain white with no glossy images, everything appeared like it was brand new. Factory tape sealed the box stating that it was a recodtitioned unit. They sound great, very neutral as many say... great physical sound isolation and because the seal is good which creates the good isolation, they can feel a bit warm, but nothing extreme or uncomfortable. Solid build quality. Definitely worth the money!!

I was given a pair of these when I started studying audio engineering. They are wonderful headphones for studio monitoring, as they color the sound as little as possible. The bass isnt boosted. This is what you want, a flat response that tells you exactly what you're recording as accurately as possible. With newer models out (I hear the new models color the sound a bit), the m40x is a steal of a price for the quality. Mine lasted 5 years of hard abuse before throwing in the towel, and I've just gone and bought my second pair. Highly recommended

These are the perfect every day headphones. They are comfortable, great sounding, seem durable so far, and don't cost a fortune. My sons both have some and AT2020 USBs as their gaming and school setups and it's far and away the best for their use. I have an M50x and an M70x, and I love them both for their intended uses, but the 40s are the deal. If you want to punch up to the 50s they are also great, but the value of the M40x cannot be denied. If I were to go out and about with my cans I would rather take the 40s than anything. ... More

Very impressed by these headphones, especially for the price. Nice flat response (no false bass boosts or anything), very light weight, quite comfy to wear for hours.

I am loving these headphones. The sound is quite neutral in terms of you hear all instruments. Some people complained about the lack of bass, but I can hear it just fine. In fact, I have never heard so much detail in each bass note before getting these cans. For the price I think you will be hard pressed to get better headphones and awesome sound quality. Diana Krall sounds amazing, as does any genre of music. I would recommend buying these headphones.

Purchased these to be part of my first podcasting setup. I read and watched a ton of reviews and these got consistently good reviews. Highlights include balanced natural sound, detachable cord, cups that can fold flat (but wrong way to fold flat on chest while wearing) and fold up for stowage. I've worn them for hours at a time and have been impressed with both the sound and comfort. You won't find better closed back headphones for the money.

If your using these headphones for monitoring audio than these are the best you'll find for the price. These are just amazing. They're built so that you hear every sound. I even used these while composing music a couple times, and I am very impressed. These are a must buy.

These are great headphones for a reasonable price. I say the bass on these are comparable to the more expensive brands (e.i BEATS, Bose) I'm not a fan of how they swivel but that's probably my only complaint.

I love the sound coming from these headphones! They are very comfortable, even for long periods of time. The only thing that I've noticed is that some of the lower mids need to be turned up to hear clearly. Then once mixed, they are louder on most other speakers. Other than that, they are exceptional.

I was a bit skeptical at first but when I plugged in these headphones I was shocked at the sound quality. I also love the fact that they come with two cords one with 1/4 and the other a 1/8 plug. They fold up nicely and you can swivel the earpieces to allow for hearing people around you. Definitely worth the money.

I selected it because it was important for me that it has a detachable cable, and coiled cable included and a pouch to carry around. In the price range this was the best for what I looked for. It also had very good reviews. When I plugged it in my digital piano, wow the sound was so cool. Same great experience when I plugged it into my audio interface. So far, after roughly 3 weeks of using it, I love it.

I would rate the sound delivered by these headphones as very good. Good volume, good mid-tone and high frequency response, with adequate bass. The response range is as advertised and the sound comes through cleanly across the range. The build quality is middle of the road but so is the price. The headband and its left and right extensions opens quite wide. I measured ten inches between cushions so they should fit well if you have a larger head.
