Not sure what the rating comment was about not being compatible with windows 10, because it worked right away for me. Clear sound. Loved that you could plug headphones directly into the mic and control the amount of audio you heard from the two* (just what you hear not whats recorded)

I use this product to record voice-overs on client presentations and videos. For so long I had been making-do with a XLR-connected mic via an adapter, which always seemed to cause problems for various reasons. The AT2020 is a user-friendly mic with a pleasant tone for voice (not tinny, no echo, not too warm). It is easy to set-up and comparing results side-by-side with my previous audio is making me want to go back and re-record everything I have produced over the past two years! It would have been nice if I could fold up the little tripod under the mic and insert it in to the included pouch. But you need to remove the mic from the stand to store it. Also, when mouse-clicking through on-screen content, the vibration can travel up the poorly shock-absorbed tripod legs. I would have preferred to have an elastic-mounted mic-stand of some sort. ... At the same session, I recorded two singers together: a man with the Neumann TLM 103 and a woman with the Audio-Technica AT2020 and I cant feel many differences about sound quality. It was a good surprise for me, I was affraid because the price of AT2020 is cheap but the studio performance of AT2020 is really nice and I recommend it.

The AT2020USB microphone is truly plug-n-play and works right out of the box on my machine running Vista. I use it for voice over work. I've been a fan of AT mics since buying an AT4033 years ago, which treats my voice well. The AT2020 has excellent sound even though the recording level is quite low compared to another mic, the Blue Yeti, on the same computer. The build quality is excellent, and the mic is fairly compact -- good for on-site recording although a bit heavy to carry, which is understandable in view of the solid build. People have complained about the brightness of the blue LED on the front of the mic. Honestly, it's not that bright or distracting. If you are really bothered by it, stick a piece of gaffer tape over it. The mic comes with fittings for different size screw mounts, and a small tripod is part of the deal. ... More

I am a singer/songwriter and I have recently started exploring the world of music recording. Since I was certainly no expert, I talked to several musicians/audio guys, who had been around the block, and had been exposed to many different mics and gear. Everybody was saying that AT had some really great mics, and one guy in particular said that the 2020 was his favorite mic bellow the $300-$400 range. B&H had the best deal on this mic by far, so I ordered it up (and it came with free shipping ;) I got it set up in my music room, and right away I could tell this was a serious piece of gear. It sounded incredible with both my Ibanez acoustic, and male and female vocals. I was really impressed with the response and range of the sound it was grabbing. I am really glad I got this mic, and I would definitely recommend it to anybody looking for a sub-$300 mic. ... More

I have used this mic for a while. Also, it is my first, home recording condenser mic. I have been using UX2, which is a really old audio interface. However, this mic was very well suited. Now I have Rode NT1-A, not a huge upgrade. Honestly, I really don't see difference except for the tones and sound itself. When I sing with NT1-A, I feel naked. I have to spend a lot of time with Adobe Audition to make it an listenable song. For AT2020, my tone is perfect. I just need to reduce the volume and add some effects to finish. I did not expect too much on this mic, but it was more than that. pretty good. ... More

It's true. This mic is not fully compatible with Windows 10. Note they left Windows 10 off the specs. Yes, if you plug it into a Windows 10 box it will work. However, on the 3 Windows 10 laptops I tried it on, the loudest I could get the output was not loud enough. Worked great on my Windows 7 box before I upgraded to 10. Look around the Internet, do your research — numerous complaints and discussions. It's a driver problem. Apparently AT blames Microsoft and Microsoft won't respond to problem reports. AT could write its own driver but has chosen not to. That said, yes, some Windows 10 users say it is fine. I love my regular AT2020s with XLR hooked up to an A/D interface, but this one — no. ... For $150, this kit is totally worth your money. The mic fidelity is great, especially when used with a pop filter and sound deadening accessories. The headphones are also alright, with great noise isolation. My biggest complaint would be the stand. Straight out of the box, it's a nightmare to use, but after a little bit of tightening and resituating, it's workable. Great for a beginner with no existing audio equipment, but keep in mind you might want to invest in a better stand, and you will have to purchase a computer audio interface as well.

I had been using cheese ball microphones that came with headsets to make training videos for my clients. Since I didn't charge them for his value added service I didn't worry too much about the quality of the voice over. So now my training video production skills are enough for me to be able to charge for the service but the audio quality isn't near what it needed to be. I read some revews and finally settled on this product. i haven't looked back. What a great microphone for a non-pro like me. In addition, B&H was a wild card for me but I ordered from them anyway. Amazing microphone for the price. I'm a business owner and make videos and do a lot of calls for my company. This microphone sounds so good I've had people take their earphones out and literally ask "why did my earphone quality just get so much better?" Because my voice sounded THAT crisp. It's also light, easy to set up, it looks phenomenal. I love the blue light that turns on when you plug the mic in.

As an overdub voice artist, blogger and musician (brass), I was very surprised at the response from this mic by Audio-Technica. It's very sensitive, it's dead-easy to use and install, and... well, where can you find a good-sized voice mic of this quality for less than $ NOTE: I'm using this as a spoken voice mic, NOT an instrumental/singing mic. As a horn player, I'm reluctant to put the horn mojo on a mic that's not in a studio, as I've blown lesser mics out before. This mic is specifically designed for voice. However, accoustic stringed instruments and voice (check your levels) should probably be fine, but again, I've not tested this. ... More

This is a great microphone for the money. No pops or hisses. My office is quite nosey because of the air handler and I don't hear it in the background of the recordings.

I own six of these microphones plus a number of AT shot guns. I have used Neumann 87s and 103s and although the frequency response is different, these microphones perform admirably. For stage work (recording plays and musicals) nothing can pull sound off a stage like a Neumann. On the other hand, not having a 3k budget for hardware, forced me to look elsewhereand the 2020s were a good substitute. They are also a good choice for voice-over work. The microphone has reasonably high output, that is clean and exhibits very low self-noise. For my money, the AT2020 is a great value. I have never been disappointed by any Audio Technica product! ... The main reason I got this mike was for improved speech recognition. I also did not want to have to wear a headset. When I did the mic set up I got a much better signal to noise ratio than my headset which was a pretty good headset. Having the mic on the desktop makes for much more convenient voice input. A test of the audio recording showed that the mic fared very well. I really don't have anything bad to say about this mic. It is rather bulky and heavy, but that comes with the territory of quality microphones. Note: this entire review was made hands-free. ... More

The PodcastHelper (twitter name) referred this to me after I wanted to find a cheap and nice upgrade to my current headset recording setup for podcast segments I record. My goals were simple. I wanted something cheap, provide noticeably better recording, and easy to setup. This provided all three. I paid much less than what I was expecting to pay for. Setting up was a cinch on my mac mini. All I needed to do was plug it in. Go to the system properties and change the mic to the AT2020 and I was good to go. After a few recordings I was able to confirm that the normal buzzing from my cheaper solution was gone and I was ready to record. Additionally setup was easy to add a pop filter and placing this on a boom stand. Great product, great price, and easy setup. ... More

I'm new to Voice-Over, but this mic was recommended to me by a veteran. I was told that it can produce audition-quality recordings but shouldn't be used for professional productions. I just got done with my first recording session and the quality was superb as far as I can tell. There was no distortion and my voice came out crystal-clear. Also, I liked that this device is completely plugN'play, so I didn't have to change any Vista settings - it self-installed and I was ready to record. Came with a small but sturdy stand and a decently long USB cable. If you work at a desk, the stand isn't tall enough to keep the mic in front of your face unless you prop it up on a box or stack of books, but for $ I'm very happy with my purchase.CheersAlex ... I use the AT2020USB with Voice Recognition. I am disabled and need a dependable microphone to email, chat and to control some aspects of the computer. I use a arm assembly to hold the microphone to position the AT2020 or swing it out of the way when not in use. The AT2020USB provides plenty of gain though the voice recognition software adjusts the gain to accommodate the voice recognition software. I seldom listen to the true sound of the AT2020USB. The base of the arm does not rotate without loosening or unlocking it so that would be my only real complaint. The headphones are fine, nothing special but a nice bonus pair to have laying around or as a gift. The mic is plug and play on windows and mac using standard USB. The quality in discord is top-notch and the voice-over recordings I have done with it are also fantastic. It picks up a good amount of room acoustics so be aware of that.
