My wife is a piano teacher, and having to teach her students on line because of the pandemic. using Facebook to communicate, the AT2020usb+ makes her sound like she's sitting right next to her students. and the fact that she can connect her headphones at the Mic and mix between the computer audio output and the mic output is a huge help to her. She says that it's the best present she's ever received!

I have used Audi-Technica mics for years, and I have always liked them. I did not know about the 2020 specifically until I helped a friend with a live recording. I was looking through the mics he'd brought to the gig and asked about the 2020. He wasn't going to use that particular mic, but he mentioned how much he used it for recording voices, you won't believe how good it sounds and it's only $. I needed a vocal mic, so I bought the 2020 and yes, it is a VERY good vocal mic. I have only used it on female voices, but I am very happy with how smooth it sounds. Can't wait to try it on male voices. ... More

I bought this mic from B&H over 7 (!) years ago and immediately put it to use doing voice-over work while building videos for my college geology classes. Wrapped in an sE Electronics RF-X Reflection Filter and with a pop filter in place, this mic has performed superbly for me (and has allowed me to discard several other mics that were quite inferior to this one). Literally thousands of my online college geology students have benefited from the audio clarity in my videos due to this mic. I see it is now on a fantastically low-priced Flash Deal sale here at B&H but I would buy it at full price again, any day, given how well it performs. Highly recommended if you need a USB desktop mic. ... More

I'm very pleased with the performance and quality of this microphone. I need a good quality microphone to record voice overs for videos and some podcasting. The AT2020 provides top quality audio. Installation and set up on my Mac was simple and fast. The unit feels very well made, solidly built.

This microphone is great because you take it out of the box plug it in and that is it, you are ready to record in seconds! I would definitely recommend getting a shock mount for sure, a pop filter, and some type of stand. This microphone pics up any noise that is why i would definitely get a shock mount if you cant get anything else because if the microphone moves you will here it that is the only bad thing about it which is not even that bad. When you are recording make sure you are in a quite place as well. ... More

...The product is really worth the money. Very suitable for narration, podcasting , singing, or recording any sort of sound. I have a ceiling fan in my room and it doesn't record that, but just my voice. It does sound like your voice is recorded in a studio. However, if you want this to record ambient sounds, then this isn't what you are looking for.For podcasting, this is excellent. Also, it's really plug and play, you just need to adjust the recording volume as the default volume was 6 (maximum was 100), set it to max and you are good to go. Very happy with my purchase, and the price is good as well. ... this product costs half of what a local retailer quoted me for. ... More

First off... I'm a big fan of audio technica products... My first mic condenser was an at2020 xlr which I love when it comes to quality and price. Then when I've tried this usb at2020 I'm sure that this mic will perform great like the xlr type. Actually when you look at them closely the usb is kinda smoother looking than the xlr (aesthetically)... It has a nice blue light to tell that it's on... It picks up nicely like every mic condenser but in the usb range at2020 wins when it comes to clarity, durability, looks etc. The cons on this mic it has no multi pattern... Only cardioid but still deserves a 5 stars... ... More

I was excited to order this microphone after reading the positive reviews. After using the microphone, I was very sorry I spent the money. It was marked down and I thought it would be a good deal for some basic work I do with producing interviews for podcasts. Unfortunately my good deal was for the vendor and not me. The mic easily picked up interference and was very weak in picking up lower tones. I am used to using higher priced equipment for podcasting but hoped there would be a place for this cheap mic. Unfortunately, its place will be in my drawer and will not be used--unless it might be a toy for one of my children. ... More

I bought my AT2020 to replace a desktop Logitech usb microphone. No matter how much I tried previously I just could not get rid of the hollow sound on all recordings I made to show clients how to use online applications we have built for them. Without changing anything else other than the mic I am now getting incredibly good audio, which my clients have also comment upon. If I had to be picky to find any kind of fault I would suggest the mic stand would be a little more adjustable in order to raise its height on the desk. ... More

This is a great condenser mic for the pricepoint. The USB is truly plug and play - no hassles and works with no need for additional gear (interface, XLR cables etc.) or software drivers. Recording quality is great for vocals and for podcasting/voice recording. The mic build quality is solid and sturdy. It comes with a little tripod which is well made enough but you may want a different mount depending on your setup. There is an audio output jack on the mic for monitoring and a hard balance control wheel. There aren't a ton of bells and whistles or other controls, which is ok for the price point. I can't really ding it for much. Highly recommended overall. ... More

I'm hard-pressed to think of another condenser mic that offers equal or better quality for the price. It's just simply a steal. It's sturdy, but not too heavy, making it a good choice for drum overheads. The flat response picks up all pieces of the kit without being harsh. On vocals it's solid, but for a few dollars more you will find a better & more open large diaphragm mic (AKG Perception 220, for example). For home use, just get a modest preamp & it will benefit you greatly with the AT2020 (e.g., the ART TubeMP). I dig.

I received this from B&H in the mail yesterday, and might I say that it was a pleasure ordering from B&H as always. I had this mic out of the box, into my interface, and my wife recording a lovely tune in a minute or two. It's a really nice sounding mic (for vocals at least) right out of the box, and I'll be testing it on various instruments over the next week or so. I wouldn't hesitate buying this if you're looking for a good condenser mic that's easy on the wallet. I will add that when using it without a pop filter I noticed that the P plosive did cause the signal to clip a couple times... but I'm sure most people buying this mic will be putting a pop filter in front of it. ... This is a very good, very cost-effective mic for voice-overs. Nothing gets that big, rich, round, commercial sound like a large diaphragm condenser. Not only do my VO's sound great but clients are always impressed that I have this professional-looking mic. You might look at the AT2035 which has some great features and includes the shock mount but you can't beat this for the price.

Audio Technica quality --this from a (LONG time ago) radio disk jockey/voiceover pro. I'm just starting a home business recording audio books, among other things, so needed good quality mic I could use with home computer recording/editing software. I like the feel of the mic, the included adjustable mini-stand, and the extremely quick and easy setup. Some tonal adjustment capability would be helpful, but you can't have everything! B&H Photo provided good info on its website.... Overall an excellent transaction, great price for a top quality brand.

For the value this microphone is 5 stars. For some time now Ihave been looking for a good microphone to record on my home computer. Since I only need to record voice and guitar, this microphone is great for this. The condenser works great. It does pick up everything, so make sure that it is a decent distance from noise, such as a computer or a window. It is sensitive, yet records the voice extremely well. The USB aspect is wonderful, because you can plug it into any computer, no need to install software or drivers. Highly recomended.

After searching online, I found that B&H had it for $$less than anybody else!! When my mic arrived, I opened it and plugged it into my computer and VOILA! I was in business. A bit premature to leave this review as I haven't used it much yet. Bought it for acoustic guitar and it seems to work good for that. I have a large condenser (SP C1) and a SM57 that I'd used a bit for acoustic - neither is ideal. This one here is sorta in between. This is a MEDIUM CONDENSER. Seems bigger in picture. I wasn't fooled by that, I'd done a bit of research. Comes with a cool little mount, but I use it with my existing shockmount. Great value mic - price sealed the deal for me and steers me toward 4 stars vs. 3 - what a steal! ... More

For a medium priced microphone the sound quality and noise levels are very good. This mic works well with my MOTU M4 audio interface. Without a shock mount is does pickup some table vibrations. One thing that surprised me was the cardioid pattern changes with frequency so for certain frequencies it will pickup sounds behind the mic. I only bought (1) to experiment with but plan on buying a second for a stereo pair.

Great for direct-to-computer uses like online performance with voice & acoustic guitar (shared mic situation). As with most cardioid mics, the best signal is when placed fairly close to sound source. An Auray-brand or similar pop-filter is useful for close vocals. Best features: clean-clear response, easy controls on mic for headphone level, blend-control for source vs mic to headphone, and headphone jack on the mic so no audio delay in phones. One caution: since proximity is important on this type of mix, you might prefer using boom stand to desk placement.

I use this mic for streaming video games and I have to say it's a really solid, quality-build microphone. I used to have a Blue Yeti mic, which was massive. This is maybe 2/3 the size of that but doesn't sacrifice quality in that reduction. Very easy to get up and running with USB plug-n-play. The only super-slight issue I have with it is that there is a blue LED light inside the mesh that as far as I can tell, can't be turned off. It can be pretty distracting, especially if you have it on a boom that keeps it nearly eye level. ... More
