Bought this mic with the Auray BA-2EU Two-Section Broadcast Arm with Integrated USB Cable, the Audio-Technica AT8458 Microphone Shock Mount, and the sE Electronics Metal Pop Filter for a total of around $$+All-in-all as an ensemble selected to the job I needed Podcasts and live web-broadcasts this setup serves my purposes very well.It is however necessary to find the optimal distance from the capsule in order to best interpret your voice: neither too bass, nor otherwise lacking in oomph... Once this has been found, there is little lea-way for postional variants whilst still maintaining the same over all sound-feel.The Angle-Arm works efficiently, and is good value. The Pop-filter is also I feel better than the cheaper straight mesh, or gauze models. The mic is clean, crisp, has good bass, and is very much a plug-an-play piece of kit (on Mac OS, at least) whose external, additional control variables on the mic itslef, are really useful. My only negative comment is that when the mic box arrived, it had patently been opened. Not only that, but the microphone deskstand was missing which leads me to believe that this was either demo model, or had been showcased, and then badly re-assembled for sending-off to me as a complete, new unit.Naturally, I contacted B & H Sales Service by e-mail, and a couple of days later heard back from one fellow and then again two days after that from another and finally, two days after THAT, from a third gent.... All to say that they would see if they could (persuade) the Agent to send the missing part to me directly. Two weeks since my delivery, and I'm still waiting.B&H offers a great service and is more-often-than-not my personal, primary resource. However, on occasion I have noticed that whereas 95% of the time the results are as expected with no complaints even for overseas deliveries there is that niggling 5% which, when it goes belly-up, really affects the 'Love'Other than for this factor, as a WHOLE Product AND Service it would have been a Five Star kit. ... Great for voice and instrument work. Easy to plug right into a computer and use almost any audio software to record with. The stand tends to be unstable, and considering how well made it is, that's a shame.

I use this microphone to record singing with an acoustic guitar backup for videos. The equipment I was using previously just didn't have the sound I wanted, so I went looking for a new microphone that could be connected via USB. This mic has very natural sound. When speaking, my voice sounds exactly as it sounds naturally. The guitar rings out like you're right there next to it. I've used many microphones over the years, from cheap junk to high-dollar Shure setups, and I have to say this one ranks right near the top. Setup was easy on my Windows 10 laptop. I plugged in the cable, and the device showed up in my software for use. Couldn't have been easier. The main reason I didn't go 5 stars was I'll admit the included stand was a little awkward to use. Other than that, great microphone for the price. ... More

I'm just getting started in voiceovers and am a volunteer who reads books for the blind. After reading numerous reviews, I selected the AT2020 USB microphone in order to set-up a home studio. I really like the set-up since it requires no interface to the computer--it's just a straight USB plug in. This makes my system economical and hassle free. No additional components (USB mixer or interface) required. The sound quality is very good with crisp highs and very nice bass response. Overall, I am very pleased and believe that this is an excellent choice for those who wish to spend less than $100 to set-up a home studio. I also spent ten bucks for a foam mattress pad... for improved acoustics. Next up, a more substantial mic stand. Note: I also tried a Sterling condenser microphone (the low end mic that retails for $200 or so)hooked up to an Alesis USB mixer. It's sound quality was inferior to the 2020 and the package price was twice as expensive. ... More

This is a great package. The mics are very good, the headphones get great sound. The pop filters work pretty well. But here are some tips: 1. The mic mounts wont initially fit on the top of the stands. Take a nickel and put it in the notch in the threading and unscrew the threading. Then the mount and stand will fit together. 2. Make sure you press the red 48V button on the mixer. The mics need a lot of power. This will provide the phantom power you need. Save yourself the trouble I went through before figuring that out. 3. You can add more mics with 1/4 connections to the other inputs on the mixer, and you can use up to four pairs of headphones in the amplifier. 4. The XLR cables are 6. In the spaces where Im recording, thats long. You may want to pick yourself up some shorter ones. Im really starting to have fun with this user-friendly package. Happy podcasting. ... More

I purchased microphone to attach to an iMac. My intent is to make cleaner voice recordings. The built-in mic is okay; however, leaves some room for decent to good voice recordings. At this writing, I have only recorded test voice audio files. The set-up was a breeze. The mic integrates into the stand quite well. The plug-n-play capability of the Mac made connection even easier; plugged USB cable into port, and the Mac recognized the mic right off (had to change mic input via settings). I did find the stand a bit flimsy, but quite functional. The mic uses a standard peripheral USB cable that hooks into the bottom of mic. I could see this causing problems if a person was holding the mic, and moving around. Stationary, no major issues with connection or stand. I did do a few test voice recordings, and I could tell a difference from the Mac built-in mic. The recording had better clarity along with better volume. Someone looking for a simple, inexpensive mic would do well with the AT2020USB Mic. Simple set-up (Mac), and easy to use with various programs. I give the mic 5 stars due to my novice status, and my intended use. The AT2020USB Mic exceeded my expectations. ... More

I am a professional. I know this microphone is good. I use it for TV voiceovers and it covers up many of my home/office's acoustic deficiencies. I buy my professional equipment from B&H as, many of my coworkers do. My last order was truly an ordeal but I would not really blame the seller for the lack of supply, because it was a popular microphone and the demand for it had peaked during the pandemic. B&H charges you in advance even it is backordered, unlike many others sellers do. So the money is taken away from your credit account for that transaction period, even if it is backordered or has not arrived yet. That is what happened to me for more than a month. I did write to them about my issue and they kindly and humbly replied. I know it sounds unusual to many consumers. B&H does not need me to speak for its favor. But it was worth the patience. They sent the microphone when they had the order available and it saved a lot of my time when I began using it. Our video editors are also happy with the sound quality. During this one-month wait process, it took my attention that the product was being offered by third party sellers for a little less than its worth, but I would not take any risk. I know it sounds unusual to many online consumers. B&H does not need me to speak in favor of it. There have been a few times B&H tested my patience, especially when I ordered my SL-1210GR, but that order is the true meaning of my life. One thing I am sure though, a coworker of mine had earlier ordered a webcam, but the backorder period took to long. She had cancelled it. She was refunded immediately. So your payment is safe even if you have backorders, but you are going to receive your professional orders from truly professional people. ... More

I use this microphone to record my videos for youtube. Quite often I would recieve comments that my old microphone (which had cost me $300) allowed for a lot of background noise to interrupt my commentaries. Admittedly I was skeptical about buying a microphone for less than $ and expecting any decent results. (Especially for a USB microphone). As it turns out, not only does this microphone beat my old expensive microphone in every possible way, its easy to take with me on trips so I don't have to sacrifice audio while submitting videos away from home. The USB allows for me to carry this microphone anywhere I go as it does not require any additional equipment. In addition, at this price I've decided I am going to buy two, just so I can keep one in a travel pack so I don't forget. The quality is heads and tails above similarly prices microphones and even the really expensive ones! On the downside its not quite the quality of the really expensive microphones but, those would cost you easily ten times the price of this one. What a great product, audio technica really surprised me with this one! ... More

A bit heavy for portable use, the the quality is was the primary purchase concern. The enclosed mic stand is a bit wimpy so plan on getting a more solid mounting solution.

I was glad to find a package and this one had all the parts cheaper than I could have put together my own package. The only thing still needed (which I didn't realize until later) were microphone mounts - that is, a way to connect the microphones to the stands. I also purchased the Pelican 1560 with customizable pluck out foam case which is able to hold everything in this package. Lost the 5th star because there was nothing in the package to connect the mics to the stands.

Like just about all condensers, and most dynamic mics, an extra low-noise preamp is need to lower the noise floor. The scarlett interface's preamp does not cut it for this. A fetHead Phantom would be ideal for voiceover work, or acoustics with silent moments. Nobody builds it in. Since I have 2 types of mic, I got a dbx 286s. Less than super studio preamps, and it is very quiet and has a lot of pre-processing to save on labor with my DAW (software). All that being said, this is a very nice studio mic, as these things go. It's for 'high detail': the Senn E835 is for 'high background rejection'. I will withhold a star for all microphones until someone issues one with another 20dB gain built in. That will be a joyous day. ... More

After doing some research I stumbled across this gem and the Blue Yeti, which were both the same price. After seeing this on sale I thought I would go with this and it is easily my most favored purchase and would buy another one for sure. What makes this so great is the quality! It comes through crystal clear and I don't need to be right up against the mic for it to register my voice. It also does a great job of blocking outside noises as well. I do a lot of things that have to do with gaming both on console and pc. I use it for everything from recording commentary during tournaments to having voice communication during online play. There is nothing wrong with this microphone in anyway. It may not be an extremely high end microphone but for it's price it can't be beat. It is well built; it's almost completely metal with absolutely no flimsiness or weakness at all in it's build. The things I like best about the microphone is that it's completely universal. It plugs right and starts to work on both my pc and my gaming consoles. The other thing is that it's the only microphone that works with consoles that has a complete line of accessories like wind screens and shock mounts. The only mark I can give against the microphone is that it cannot be compared to much higher end microphones. But it's an unfair comparison because this is the only microphone that fulfills it's specific role. ... More

This condenser is a great value for female vocals, even running through a cheap focusrite saffire pre it does a great job at representing the facts. Do some research, and you will see that it has stood up to much more expensive mics in shootouts. Note that by nature side address condensers do not reject off axis noise well, so if you are using it in an untreated environment you might consider a reflection filter. Also plosives will most likely be a problem, so a pop filter is a must. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone.

So far with my experience, this mic is a good all arounder. I've used it not only for vocals, but for acoustic guitar, cajon, other percussive instruments, etc. I place this off-axis from my guitars sound hole, and the AT2021 a couple inches from the 12th-14th frets. I had originally bought a pair of Samson CO1U condenser microphones and ended up returning them after attempting to record a piano only to find an incredible amount of noise. I tried to tweak the settings of the recording software for over an hour to no avail. So I tried a pair of AT2020USB's and found a night and day difference! The gain on the AT2020USB is a little on the sensitive side, giving some pretty harsh distortion when you go beyond the threshold. But once I had all of the levels just right, they sounded amazing! I was very surprised by the quality of the sound produced from this mic especially for the price. I'm running it to my macbook pro through the Icicle audio interface by Blue Microphones and recording using Logic (but Garageband works well too). I use the AT2020 to record my a cappella group and it picks up the wide vocal ranges well. Rich and full low end and warm highs without the shrill. I do strongly recommend a pop filter though, as it does pick up the b's and p's a little too well. I bought a first-gen AT2020USB. I didn't think I cared that this one added a +, but I was wrong. In addition to having really pleasing, nicely directional pickup, this thing is really a full-fledged external sound card. If one needs to monitor one's own voice through headphones, such as while podcasting, this offers a latency-free headphone jack on board. In addition to a physical volume control, there's a very smart mic/com control, which allows the user to mix the mic's pickup with the computer output in the headphones. While the mic is a solid performer and a good value in my estimation, don't use the included mount and tripod. You'll really need the OEM AT shockmount and a proper height adjustable desktop stand or adjustable boom arm. You REALLY don't want this--out of the box with the included mount and stand--to be too far from your mouth AND easily transmit low frequency thumps and paper and keyboard sounds. Budget accordingly for the accessories to get the most out of it. ... More

I have one first generation version, which lacks the headphone jack, and this is my 2nd of the newer generation. If using this in an application where you want a shock mount, be sure to buy the Audio Technica shock mount that is made for this exact form factor. I have both of mine on boom arms. I like the side address form factor and the ability to get cheap pop filters that are semi-cylindrical. Compared to the much more expensive gold standard Shure SM7B, this sounds a bit brighter and has a wider, flatter frequency response. That makes the AT2020 better suited for instrumentals and other sound sources, whereas the SM7B tends to be very specifically suited to voices. I own USB and XLR versions of this mic, and the integrated analog-to-digital conversation seems very good, not introducing detectable noise. ... More
