I have recently begun my journey to become a vocalist, and I hated using a cheapy usb mic and a cheap old dynamic Shure that I got from school(already beat up) And I went in to look around, saw many demos of this mic, and I was impressed for the sound quality and the price. I got a Focusrite 6i6 interface, and it works amazingly with this mic! When ever I record vocals with this and my ATH m50x, it is so amazingly clear that I almost feel like the mic isnt working because it is that clear. Of course buying higher end mics later will make a difference, but for me beginning and using this mic, I am impressed. Recommended for any beginners of Vocals. It is also amazing for commentary and instruments. And this comes with a great shock mount and a great case as well!! So now you can protect this baby for a good long while! ... More

The AKG P220 Microphone can only be described as superb! The Large microphone is not only substantial in weight, but also in its size. Just speaking about the microphone, it has a good size, warm sound quality, and a host of tweaking switches to adjust the input qualities. Having this microphone in front of you gives an impression of solidness, substance, and quality. When adding in the spider shock mount, you get not only the previous mentioned impressions, but also professionalism. Just looking at the AKG P220 on its shock mount, mounted on either a microphone stand, or boom microphone stand assembly gives the viewer a sense that you have pull out all the stops for them. This impression is not just a figment of the imagination with nothing to back it up. The unit is well designed, built, and top notch. Construction is nice heavy metal, thick metal mesh for protecting the cardioid internal capsule, and a good weight to give the microphone sturdiness. The Spider shock mount is also well designed, and made with some well thought out building. Using a basket mounting shock mount instead of the more constrictive direct body of the microphone design, gives the AKG P220 quick tear down and set up features in the field, or on stage. Additionally, I got this microphone with the included Aluminum Carry Case, the included Spider Shock Mount, but, also included was the Auray SSM-UM22 Suspension Shock Mount (also using the same basket mounting). I use the Spider Shock Mount for my Live recording gigs with the AKG P220, but the additional included Auray SSM-UM22 Suspension Shock Mount would be perfect for use on a desktop hosts adjustable boom arm assembly. The complete package here for the AKG Project Microphone just screams professionalism, from its looks, all the way down to what it comes with. Case in point, most Large microphones either come with nothing to carry or protect the microphone in storage or transit, or a pouch. Whereas, the AKG P220 comes with a very nice aluminum carry case, well sized to carry and protect the heavy microphone, but also the Spider Shock mount. Some of these little details are why, I feel, the AKG just goes over and beyond when it comes to a feeling of professionalism in their product. I could name a lot more of these details, but will only give you a taste. The Spider shock mount rubber bands are easily removed, replaced, and are stocked items for ordering. The mounting for the AKG P220 microphone uses a quick tightening ring at the bottom of the Suspension Shock Mount, or the included Spider Shock Mount basket to allow quick and easy set ups and tear downs. And lets face it, you set ANYONE in front of this microphone, they can't help but feel you've placed them in front of the best you can offer. ... More

This was my choice after using MXL for several years now. I have 6 MXL mics and though they work well, I was looking for a more crisp, clean sound. Holy Mackeral!!!! This was absolutely the best money so far that I've spent. I am running this with a Zoom R24 mixer into the pc with CubaseSX. The response from this mic is awesome. Highs are awesome and the switches on the mic make it very easy to adjust to the sound you are looking for. Great mic for the money!!! Don't hesitate to get this one....you'll love it!!!

I bought this needing a versatile microphone I could use in my studio but could also have a home on stage in my live productions, and I do believe I've found it. In the studio it does well as an all around mic that I've used in multiple situations including guitars, drums, and a small amount with vocals and wasn't disappointed. On my stage I primarily just use it as a kick mic, and without even having my gate and eq dialed in, I'm always pleased with the accurate sound I can get with this mic, which makes dialing in my gate and eq fun and easy. In my opinion, for the price and quality, this mic will always have a home in my mic locker. ... More

I was pleased with the fact that the mic came with a standard and optional mic screw attachment. I created a vocal booth and hung this mic. It has performed extremely well and produces clear vocals.

Very good affordable Large Diaphragm Condenser. Always had success with AKG mics, and this one is no exception. It's obviously not a 414 (or other hi end mic) but in this price range it certainly gets the job done. Plus it comes with a smart little carrying case and a shock mount.

I went into B&H on a recommendation from a friend who lives in the area, didn't know what to expect. It's like Santa's Workshop in there. Super busy, packages going around above your head on like a chute/train track vibe. I was still easily able to get the attention of an associate who talked to me for a while about different condenser mic options. Actually had decided on a different mic but it wasn't in stock at the store and I couldn't wait for shipping because I needed a mic that week, so went with the AKG and honestly don't even notice that it wasn't my "first choice" because it does everything I want it to. I use it for singing and I'm really pleased with the quality of sound I get. I also use a Rode NT USB mic that I love too but I needed a mic that connected through XLR and this one is definitely at least as good as the Rode, probably better but I haven't done a comparison test. ... Got this for my home studio. Had been recording with dynamic mics. Mostly SM58. Getting set up with a confessor mic and pop screen has dramatically changed the quality of vocal recordings. This is a great mix that didn't cost a fortune. Totally recommend it.

I recently began building up a basic home studio and was looking into condenser microphones. I was deciding between several $60 - $150 microsphones and this one came out the most versatile and best quality. I am not a professional arranger, but I can't imagine how much better it can possibly sound because this one picks up sax, vocals, guitar, etc. very smoothly, with crisp clarity, and with low feedback noise. I love the mike, and along with its shockmount counterpart and rugged case, they make the perfect team in your sudio. GO get one.

I use a pair of these microphones in a home recording studio primarily with Woodwind instruments and Accordion. The sound quality is phenominal. Every nuance with no distortion even when recording saxophone (which is quite loud). The package with the shock mount and everything is very well thought through. The only thing missing is a pop screen. I can find no fault with these. If I had to... I guess they are too heavy for use outside the studio, but then they are studio mics.

With limited knowledge about mics, I got on my phone at the pawn shop looking at reviews about the AKG. Good reviews across the board lead me to purchase the Perception 200. It has been old faithful for me despite a shortege were the male cord hooks up. Hey thats why it was in the pawn shop right? As long as it is stablized it works great despite the shortege. This mic garnishes crystal clear vocals and the low cut feature is awsome.

I'm very impressed with this microphone. It has a beautiful clear sound and is able to record very loud sounds no problem. Other microphones tend to pick up disturbances from lights, monitors and other electrical items, but this microphone does a very good job at protecting itself from them, I guess this has to do with the really solid metal body which also provides great protection making it a very strong, robust microphone. I haven't put it's robustness to the test yet but just holding it and feeling it I would say that this microphone would more than likely withstand some pretty rough treatment. It also looks great!! haha. :) ... More

This microphone is being used for amateur radio and produces a smooth rich voice profile. The mick has a nice bass contour and perfect highs for speech articulation. I would reccommend this microphone to any amateur radio station owner. It is simply the best for the money.

Used this mic to record vocals and acoustic guitar on two of my albums. It is a very nice sounding mic. I compared it to my Nuemann TLM-103 ($), and (to me) the Perception 220 sounds better. We are using it in a 6x6 vocal booth, btw.

I use this in my home studio to record acoustic guitar, and vocals. It works great for both. I like that it comes with a case and the mic mount with an adapter for both sizes of mic stands. It has a full sound and seems to pick up everything. If you know anything about mics you'll know how sensitive condenser mics can be and this one is no exception. If there is a computer on in the same room it will sound like a lawn blower on the recording, so keep that in mind.

After spending hours of research combing through countless audio comparisons, the AKG Perception 220 REALLY blew me away. From the first time i heard it i knew it had something special. My fist time using the microphone i couldn't be more happy with the quality i was getting. The value of this microphone and the case it comes in is truly wonderful.

Great sound quality, very sensitive. I'm using it for voiceover work, but am impressed enough that I'd like to try it for singing. Haven't used it in live performance. It's heavy enough to tip over my boom mic stand, so I've had to remove the boom.
