Very happy with the lens.
No significant peripheral or chromatic aberration. Excellent resolution at all ranges. Very happy with it as general carry around lens.

Highly capable compact zoom
Compact, large focal range zoom that is great for travel or hiking. Image center is excellent over the entire range. Some vignetting at long focal length, however distortion seems to be minimal. Excellent lens choice if you can only bring one lens with or need to travel light.

Not quite sure why so many dislikes
I have this lens and find it to be very adequate. While it's not the sharpest lens, it is very very good I feel. I've have traveled around Europe, Australia and New Zealand with it and the pictures are plenty sharp enough to print and frame.

Not Sharp
I wanted to like this lens. It would fill a gap for me so that I could shoot most of my safari photos with only 2 lenses, the 200-600 and the 24-240. Unfortunately, this lens is not sharp at most focal lengths. I compared it to my other lenses (12-24, 24-105, 90 macro, 100-400 and 200-600) Every single one of those lenses delivers better sharpness. So I will continue to use 3 lenses to cover the 24-600 range, unless and until Sony or a third party manufacturer comes up with something that covers 24-200 and delivers SHARP photos. Needless to say, I have returned this lens.

Awesome Lens!
When I shot Nikon I had a version of the Holy Trinity. After I used the Holy Trinity for a while I found that I didn't like it. The wide lens was fine, but I found the 24-70mm lens very limiting in it's zoom range, and I seldom used the 70-200, (I just didn't like it). When I switched to Sony I knew that I need a much bigger zoom range. I am going to buy the 16-35mm f/2.8 GM, this lens: FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS, and the Sony 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 ... Show More

This lens is amazing. Its an all around lens. You might hear different from those photography buffs, its well worth it.

It is an amazing lens & the pictures look great!
I bought this lens as part of my super zoom trinity. I plan on buying the Sony Zoom 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 and the Sony Zoom 12-24 f/4 lens. This will give me a total zoom range of 12-600 mm with 3 full frame lenses. I like to shoot with primes when I can, however, when I need a zoom, I need a super zoom. This lens is an amazing lens, the colors are beautiful and the images are sharp. I think this lens should have been a G lens.

Solid for travel
Got this lens for my a7iii the day I was leaving for a trip abroad. Excellent range for travel. Stayed on my camera all week despite having 2 other lenses with me.

Great for the price
The lens does very well in all conditions. It is not the best low light lens but when paired with the correct camera & settings, it performs very well. Great range and a great price

Practical and flexible glass
I had some hesitation purchasing this lens due to the so-so reviews and caveats, which is frankly par for the course when it comes to superzoom lenses. Admittedly this is not a tack-sharp prime nor a $3000 f/2.8 telephoto, but what it does uniquely offer is 10x zoom functionality. If you want to take 1 single lens and dont know what awaits you, this is the lens to take. Its an especially well-suited lens for those zoo/aquarium/Disney days with th... Show More

Awesome lens
Great lens for the price! I love the feel of it. The zoom does not slip in and out. Not too heavy either. I can get good shots zooming all the way out. What I love about this lens is the fact I dont have to switch lenses anymore. Great range from 24-240 mm.

A grab and go lens
I am an amateur photographer who needs all the help a lens can give, especially when photographing wildlife. I am not qualified to comment on the technical aspects of this lens but I can say that it preforms well when coupled with my A7R3. This is especailly true when I am able to quickly (one button toggle) to APS-C mode and zoom to 360 mm with 18 MP of resolution. If I could carry but one lens, this would be the one!

Good All Around Lens But Not Great
Ive had this lens for over six month at the time of this review. It is the lens that stays on my A7III 90% of the time. I find the lens to be sharp and the color rendition to be pleasing. Like most all-around lenses it is good at a lot of things but does not excel at any-that is typical of all around lenses in my opinion. For my shooting I dont find the focusing speed to be an issue on the A7III-The facial recognition works very well with this l... Show More

Amazingly sharp for a 10 X zoom lens
I am very pleased with this lens. In a wide variety of shooting situations on my Sony A7Rii, it has given me very sharp images - all the way from 24 to 240 mm. While i have not performed a professional set of test (all apertures, all focal lengths, all subject distances, in practical use it has been just great. I have it on my camera most of the time now. One small lack that i should perhaps mention: it is not par focal. I have to press the autofocus button every time i zoom to compose the image I want. This is not a major problem for me.

Heavy but a good one-lens alternative.
You should never write a review of anything the first week you get it, but it has now been 8 days, so... I knew from reading the reviews that this lens was not considered sharp, and so far I have not been disappointed, it isn't. But I plan to bring this to a 2-day photo shoot in Flagstaff and will give it a thorough workout. I will use a prime too so I have a cross check. It adds a bit of heft to the rig and I have a battery grip too, so I need t... Show More

Great walk-around lens
I've used this lens for one five-day road trip and didn't take it off the camera. Very impressed with results using all focal lengths. My only complaints are the weight, and the fact it is fairly slow focusing. If I needed fast focusing in a particular situation, I'd have to switch to one of my other lenses.

Practical but not great
By the review, people recommend this product with 5 stars when I was making a decision to purchase. It is a good product because you can go from 24 to 240 mm with one lens. The weakness however which defeats the purpose of having this camera is the inability to focus quick enough and consistently. I would recommend it, but price point should be at about $699 maximum. $1000 is just too much for its quality.

Terrible quality
I had high expectations for this lens due to its range and potential to be a good walk around lens. Unfortunately, the example I have has severe vignetting at 24-26mm focal distance and is not very sharp across the zoom range. Anything more than about 30-40% crop easily shows the poor sharpness. Images taken at 24-26mm must be cropped roughly 10% to remove the vignette. The lens also suffered from focus hunting, causing multiple shot retakes and ... Show More

Lens is versatile but heavy. Ok on the A7Rii but on the A6000 noticeably fuzzy. First all round lens I got for the Sony but am going to get one of the master series to replace it.
