Great, great, great all around mic.
I have three. I have a several other mics with better specs. Forget the specs and trust your ears. The VP88 sound is uncolored - which bothers a lot of people. The sound field is perfect, which bothers a lot of people. Only problem is a bit of built in noise, I can't deny that. I do a lot of drive-by live recordings with built in ambient noise, so this is no problem for me. If you need to have a mic that sets up in seconds and has almost no coloration, try it, you'll like it.

A stereo mic for everything
While it may have been designed as a Video Production mic, the VP88 is a great all around stereo mic for concert productions. I have used it on acoustic guitar, marimba, vibes, bottle organs and 40 piece orchestra with CD quality results. The patterns all work and make a difference and it's easy to place and use. A great tool to have in your mic locker.

This is my 2nd one, Great Microphones
After many years of haveing one VP88, I needed another stereo mic for my 2nd camera. Giving me the best audio in the field, it was a no brainer to get a 2nd one. I am so happy they still had this mic for sale. I own about eight different mic's and by far the VP88 is the best.

Amazing for louder sounds
Incredible live music microphone, or for recording up close instruments. While it is not as sensitive as say Nt5's for ambient and nature sounds, when given a substantial volume the mic really shines. I love it.
