Does what its intended to do, very well!

Apr 5, 2011

I can't ask more of this unit for digitizing my vinyl LPs! It includes everything needed to interface between the turntable and computer. The ground post and long USB cable (4-5') allow for handy placement of the turntable; headphone monitoring outlet has a volume control; audio output is clear and at a good level. I have not loaded the software that comes with it, I've been using the included Audacity for a number of years, of which I am a fan. ... Show More

Amazingly versatile, inexpensive product

Sep 18, 2010

This bargain priced product is a - 1. line level preamp; 2. phono preamp; 3. analog to digital converter (ADC); 4. digital to analog converter (DAC); 5. headphone amplifier. I bought the Behringer to digitize my old vinyl records, which were all bought used and are of varying quality. It works fine either in line mode (using the line out from my full function stereo preamp or Vestax Handy Trax portable turntable) or phono (connecting it directly ... Show More

Worth it

Dec 31, 2009

This does exactly as advertised. The pre-amplification provided for the phonograph input is a little less than it should be. This can be adjusted after-the-fact on the file made, through freeware or software provided, but will compromise signal-to-noise for records versus cassette inputs. I can't really hear the difference, but younger audiophiles with better hearing might look for a higher end product for their vinyl conversions. The software pr... Show More

Economical way to record records

Aug 29, 2011

The device itself works fine and is very economically priced (I'm transferring my record albums onto my computer and then copying the WAV files onto CD's). The editing software is another story. There were two discs of free editing software that came with it. The simple one (U-control) works OK but there are no instructions on how to actually edit(cut out stuff, etc) so I'm still trying to figure that out. The second software disc (EnergyXT2.5) h... Unexpected Goodness

Sep 15, 2011

I have a modest collection of music on vinyl and tape that I wanted to digitize. Since all of my computers are notebook or netbook sytle machines they lack the necessary audio ports to perform this task and the Behringer UFO202 looked like a good solution. I've had the UFO202 in possession for several weeks now and have yet to use it for my original intent. Instead I've had it running non-stop as an external DAC as it provides a vast improvement ... Two Big Hassles

Nov 3, 2015

This product definitely records well, once you have it set up. Personally, I have a problem with it because you plug it directly into the turntable. This means that you have to disconnect your turntable from the tuner / amp and reconnect it every time you finish using it. Big hassle. Another big hassle. You can't listen to the record as it's recording except through headphones (because it's not connected to the tuner). Personally, I don't have ti... Show More

Good device

Apr 8, 2013

Bought the UFO202 digital interface to input classical music LPs into new iMac. Took it out box, connected it to turntable leads and computer, messed with a few computer sound input settings, and configured Audacity for input, and I was recording. Sound is very good, superior to a USB turntable I had purchased and returned. Better than taking sound through a amplifier and out tape leads. HIghly recommend it. Only downside is that the volume out of the UFO is not adjustable so recording cannot be made in preferred range for Audacity input. However, it is clearly acceptable.

Exactly what I needed!

Jan 19, 2012

After all the advice I got on what was Hot! and what was not!. I did my home work and found the UFO-202 was exactly what I was looking for! All I wanted to do is connect my Board to the computer! I didn't need any of the other gadgets that suppossedly made my life better!/I already have a nice studio. All I needed was something to put it all on disc and the 202 does it! Even the Audacity software included with the 202 is pretty user friendly. And believe me! I'm computer illiterate/ But if I can use it! Anybody can! Thanks Guys! Just what the Musician ordered!

Worth every pennie and then some.

Oct 27, 2012

I cannot believe how simple this thing is to use. And as reliable as a stone. I use it day after day. it is perfect for transferring cassette tapes to my computer and making them into MP3s. I couldn't think of a better way to do this. I love this little thing, it is just plain awesome. Everything about this thing is great except trying to figure out how to install it on a computer. But when your as computer illiterate as I am, everything is hard to figure out. If you need something like this then don't be a fool buy this exact one. You will not regret it.

Just what I needed

Oct 5, 2016

I wanted to digitize some 15-year-old audio recordings I'd made of my dad's reminiscences, for easier transcribing. I had to also buy a cable, one end of which plugs into the audio jack on my tape deck and the other of which has the two red and white RCA plugs (which connect to the input part of the UFO202). And then I downloaded Audacity on my laptop. Then all worked just as I wanted--I could easily create digital audio files, which I can now listen to on my laptop, with easy mouse-controlled navigating, while I type my transcripts on the same laptop.

Excellent Device For The Money

Mar 11, 2010

I had almost 100 old albums that are impossible to find on CD. Thanks to this item, I now have them on my PC. I thought for the longest time that I was going to be foreced into spending some big bucks on a sound card with all the interfaces I needed. This item had them all at a fraction of the cost. The built-in pre amp negates the need for setting up your amp along with the turntable which is a blessing. Simply plug in the inputs, set the line switch, plug in the headphones and you're off and running. Best bang for the buck I've seen in years.

Where's the stereo separation?

Sep 2, 2010

I'm ripping my old LP's. Any sounds/voices that are distinctly left or right channel are virtually lost using the USB adapter; that sound is way in the background. The stereo sounds mixed and centered, not like the original. In all fairness, I have the same problem using the StarTech capture cable that I bought previously. I bought this in the hope that it would work better, but ... I ended up burning the LP's to CD on a CD recorder, then ripping the CD in my PC.

Good product does just what it supposed to

Combine this with audacity which is a free download and you can do some really nice audio editing. Audacity is for windows only but if you're using a Mac there're several good audio editing programs or just use GarageBand. Pretty straight forward on how it works the only thing that confused me a little bit was the volume control has nothing to do with the recording is just to control the volume for headphones or speakers

Great Buy, Well Made

Mar 31, 2016

Behringer's equipment is always well-thought-out, and this interface/pre-amp is no exception. It's very simple to use and it does just what it's supposed to: send an analog signal to your computer so you can put your old vinyl onto a CD, your phone or an mp3 player. You can also use it to drive headphones or send a line-level analog signal to your receiver or amplifier.l Good going, Behringer!

Works Great

May 27, 2013

I recently was given a ton of records and wish to make CD's with them. I just use the free Audacity to record and with a couple of passes of noise removal I have an excellent recording. Record low volume, (around 2)because it tends to record high. You still have work to do since you have to cut the file into tracks but it's well worth the price. No cons to speak of. You won't be disappointed.

Does a Great Job and Highly Recommended

Jul 21, 2010

I didn't expect much for the price but was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be a versatile device that will convert about any input from a line or phono source to digital through a USB port. Has a nice output for headphones or whatever so you can monitor your source. Looks well made and not just a piece of plastic junk. Worth it a twice the price!

Anyone looking for an easy way to transfer vinyl to digital, here's the right product. It's simple to connect and you'll be up and recording in little or no time. The included software has a bit of a learning curve and is tedious, but with a little effort it can be mastered. I'm really happy I found and purchased this item. Highly recommended.

A nice company for a laptop

Aug 18, 2010

My electric piano only have headphone jacks for its outputs (besides speakers, of course). I purchased UFO202 to add line-in jacks to a Linux laptop computer, so that I can record the sounds of the piano at acceptable quality. I can tell UFO202 does a very good job for my particular purpose. Given its price, I can call it a great deal.

nice little interface

Mar 21, 2011

I use this for recording at home so that I can plug my mixer/4 track straight into my computer. It works like a charm and I haven't noticed any latency between the instruments and computer. It has two settings - one for line and the other for turntables so it is versatile for such a simple device. Good product I recommend it.

Good hardware; dubious software

Jan 24, 2011

I like the unit very much, and the price is unbeatable for this quality. The preamp is clean, but the gain is a little weak. The included Audacity software has no capacity for increasing sensitivity, so I'm stuck with the levels that the preamp is putting out. What's worse is that the software keeps crashing OS-X.

I use this little box to transfer vinyl into the computer and it does the job very well. It's a very versatile device that can be used for phono or line level recording. You can also use it as a DAC and headphone amp. For the price you cannot go wrong! No negatives that I can find.

Does The Job

Using this to connect a cassette deck and reel-to-reel to a Macbook Pro and it works fine. I can't tell that it does anything a straight cord wouldn't do....I searched all over the place trying to find just that, gave up since B&H had this.

It's plug in and go with this interface. The sound quality is excellent. Audacity leaves a bit to be desired on a MAC but it's no reflection on the quality of this product. I would certainly pass this on to a friend
