Apple 15.4 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar (Mid 2018, Space Gray)
Very happy
Before I purchased this I read a lot of reviews and kept comparing it to the newest 16 inch model. I was hesitant to buy this because I had read some complaints about the keyboard, the Touch Bar, and overheating issues. I also wasn't sure if I would regret not having the newest i9 processor and the higher resolution display that's on the 16 inch. In the end, I decided that I couldn't pass up the sale price, and so I took the leap and bought. So f... Show More

Good for Mobile Development.
I upgraded from a Late 2013 15" Macbook Pro, the cpu on this is roughly about twice as fast (multicore performance). This was strictly a business purchase for me: I develop mobile games for iOS and android. The six cores go a long way when it comes to compiling, essentially cutting my compile times by at least half from the 2013 model. The SSD is also ridiculously fast, getting around 2300MB/s reads and writes. I've selected the 16GB modal to sav... Show More

Touch Bar is lame
I got the new MBP because my old one is a 2014-vintage, and thought it was time to upgrade to the latest and greatest. My big concern was the soft escape key, and loss of function keys with the Touch Bar. The loss of the physical escape key for me has been devastating; I'm a heavy vi user. I'm still attempting to adjust my muscle memory to my Karabiner-remapped keyboard. Apart from that, the Touch Bar has proven to be more of a pain to use t... Show More

Great for a photographer shooting tethered a lot!
I got this to replace my late 2013 MBP 15 ( i7 quad core 16gb ram retina ) and so far it has been amazing. My old one was still fast and ran great but I figured it was time for an upgrade because I use it very heavily and I had the means currently. I wasn't sure how much faster this new laptop would be and for general use it isn't super noticeable. But where this machine starts to shine is with programs that use a lot of processing power and... Even better than I expected
My old MacBook Pro was dying so I bit the bullet and ordered this model. I read all the reviews and was worried about certain features, like the oversensitive mouse track pad, the noisy keys, etc., etc. Have had it now over a week and I love, love, love it. The keyboard is fine. The trackpad is as quirky as my old one and most of the time I can keep my thumbs off it. Love the touch bar. Not crazy about all new connections but thats Apple for you,... Great, but too expensive.
B&H is awesome. This rating is only about the product: I'm only getting about 5 hours of battery on it even under light workload. Annoying to have to buy USB-C to USB-A as well as USB-C to Thunderbolt & Lightning cables. Very glitchy with Apple Cinema Displays (latest gen) over Thunderbolt & dongle. Screen is ok if you like the gloss look (I preferred the old matte). I've never been a huge fan of staring at my own reflection while typin... Show More

TOO GOO TO BE TRUE? NOT AT ALL!
Since the 2019 MacBook Pros had just been announced I was hoping to be able to get a decent saving on a 2018. Problem was, everywhere I looked, the entry-level to mid-level were available, but nothing fully loaded. Until I found B&H! Being my very first purchase with B&H, I knew I was about to discover for myself if they were as good as I had heard. They were they are. Premium iMac Performance from a Laptop
Published benchmark tests by others indicated multi-processor performance of this MacBook Pro (2.9 GHz i9 6-core, internal flash drive, 32GB memory) to be as good or better than my 2017 iMac (4.2 GHz i7 4-core, internal flash drive, 64GB memory). Much to my surprise, the real world performance of raw image photo editing with Lightroom seems to agree. It also appears to have about double the speed in Lightroom of my old MacBook Pro it replaced (15... Show More

Almost the perfect tool
Ive never been a Macbook fan until a couple of years ago when I got a MacbookPro 2015 Retina from my workplace. I had my own MacbookPro way back (cca 2009) as well as later but Ive been switching back and forth unless required by job. And now I made the commitment to never look back by getting one as a personal laptop as well (in addition to the aforementioned 2015 Retina). What do I think? Pro: - its a beast (32Gb RAM comes i... It was worth waiting for
I have been waiting for this updated MacBook Pro patiently to replace my ageing maxed out 2012 model. I got the 2nd from the top version everything maxed out but the SSD which is 2TB. My primary use is to edit 4K+ videos while traveling and edit pictures. I use both Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Premier CC (full suite). For me the combination of size and performance and of course the style is very important. IMHO you cannot get this level of performa... Show More

Nice Machine
Purchased this machine on a special Black Friday deal with B&H. Specs: 2.9 GHz i9 CPU with 32GB RAM and 2TB drive. Came with High Sierra. Had to upgrade to Mohave 10.14.1 to migrate from old machine at same software level. Machine initially ran very hot (fans constantly on) with temperatures and frequencies similar to those found with throttling issues for this machine back in High Sierra. Upgraded to 10.14.2 and the machine settled down. Do a bu... Show More

B&H did a perfect job delivering a 2018 MacBook Pro
B&H is great. Great price discount when Apple was not offering a Black Friday deal. I was replacing a 2010 MBPro running El Capitan so there is great aggravation moving from a USB 2 to a USB c machine. You need to buy dongles to attach your external gear. The biggest nightmare is trying to synch a Dell Ultrasharp 24 inch screen that worked perfectly with the 2010 MBPro to this new operating system. Still a struggle. Each time it recovers from a s... Nice machine. Touch bar is a gimmick
I upgraded to this 2018 15" model after breaking the display on my old 2012 13" MacBook prod. As expected, this new model is bigger and faster. The display is beautiful. Photoshop runs much faster, which I much appreciate as I process a LOT of photos. The touch bar is pretty much a marketing gimmick. Definitely not a reason alone to buy this machine. However I do like the fingerprint reader used to unlock the machine. I like the keyboard, and am ... Show More

Expensive Trash!
I received this MacBook Pro as a gift and...I hate it!!! The new comically big trackpad is an absolute pain. I click and click and click and nothing happens! The touch bar/control strip is a bit strange and takes some getting used to, but it actually seems to make tasks require more clicks. I don't like the new power connector--surely the port will wear out in time (I like the older MacBook's magnetic power connector much better). Finally, I... Show More

Heavy, runs hot, and falls short of the Apple brand
My Macbook specs were 2.9Ghz Intel i9 / 32GB / 512GB / AMD Radeon Pro 560X. This is probably the most disappointing Apple product I've purchased. The most glaring issue is high temperatures: The laptop is usually warm to hot. It seems to be able to run the Adobe Suite (I use Premiere Pro, Media Encoder, Photoshop), but when it does the machine becomes VERY warm. I had about 15 tabs open in FIrefox, and the laptop became too warm to keep on ... Show More

At the beginning I doubted to buy this model because of the thermal problems. But on Internet I found that a software update from Apple solve almost all the problems. (Model Core i9) When I received the laptop it came with OS X Mojave, I turned it on and yeah, I noticed that the laptop got extremely hot just using Google Chrome. So immediately I updated it (around 4GB) and now it is better. The laptop is super fast and now the temperature is no... Show More

Poor Design
Apple has decided to change the power connection to the computer from a magnetized connection to a hard plug in connection. The magnetized connection was much easier to use and if youre a klutz like me and trip over your cord, it would not take the computer with it! Also, there is 10 along the side panel of the keyboard for plug in connections, including power connection. Apple has chosen to place those connections within a fraction of a centimet... Show More

I had my 2013 MacBook Pro stolen from my car a week before purchasing this laptop, and I was worried about the upgrade. I wanted a larger screen, my previous laptop was 13, but I wasnt excited about the touch bar or the lack of USB ports. Functional improvements they are not....
I do not like the new "butterfly" keys -- I appreciate a more substantial resistance to my keystrokes. I find the touch pad overly sensitive -- sometimes i swear it's registering the heat or the EMF radiating from my fingertips, rather than the actual pressure of my fingertip, such that, for example, I am frequently inadvertently right-clicking while hovering over the touchpad. Don't even me started on the USB-C ports only. Why I should have to f... Show More
