Great all arounder

Jan 12, 2017

On the 6300, this is a great general lens. It focuses quickly and accurately most of the time and images are sharp. My only real complaint is that the zoom ring is not really accessible when the hood is on backwards. This means you HAVE to take it off before you can start shooting which could cost you a shot if you are pulling the camera out of you bag.

Excellent Walk-Around

Nov 8, 2017

I recently bought a Sony a6500 and this lens. I used it on a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. This was my walk-around camera/lens and it perform very good. I am happy with the range of 18mm to 105mm. Well constructed medium to heavy weight lens. Pretty sharp with really nice color. Great on my hikes. Would and have recommended this lens.

Great Lense

Jul 12, 2017

This is the first lens I purchased to compliment the kit lens on the Sony A6000. My lens takes sharp pictures at 18 and at 105, though there is a slight vignette at 105. You will probably be surprised by the huge glass, but it is a pretty light lens and is very versatile. I love the better zoom capabilities, while also being able to shoot wide angle.

Great all purpose lens

Jul 22, 2014

Purchased this lens to use with Sony A6000. I was used to using a Sony 16-105mm with my A77 and wanted the convenience of the range for street photography. Since there is a G grade Sony lens it appears to be sharper than the 16-105,, but I do miss the 16 mm wide end. The lens focus is all internal and makes it less conspicuous than a protruding zoom.

Bad Lens hood

May 21, 2016

I bought this lens as my walk-around lens for my a6300. The photos are beautiful and I love the lens. My only complaint is the lousy lens hood which does not stay attached. It is constantly falling off and I've had to resort to taping it to the lens to keep it from falling off. For a quality lens like this Sony has taken an unacceptable shortcut.

Turns the Sony 6300 into a great travel camera

Jul 2, 2016

This lens in the perfect match for the 6300. It is sharp and gives consistently good results. I use to carry my Canon full size DSLR with a 28-200 lens when traveling. The 6300 combination's size and clarity now make it my prime choice. I also use this lens on the 6300 as a back up for my Sony Alpha 7R2 when I am in a must get the shot situation.

Great all around

Mar 12, 2020

Bought this as my kit lens with my a6600 and have been very pleased with the versatility of this lens. Great for video and photo. A little on the bulky side for an APS-C lens, but thats what you get for the constant F4 throughout the entire 18-105 range and power zoom. Happy with this purchase for filming, may recommend something else for photos.

Great all around lens!

I love this lens! Works great for my video needs and versatile! Currently using with my Sony a6400 and is perfect for my run and gun style, especially if Im covering an event. This lens offers OSS (Optical SteadyShot Image Stabilization) and performs well for video. Sample photos ive uploaded are shot with Sony a6400 with picture profile 1.

Best First Lens

Mar 3, 2019

If youre in search of your first Sony lens this one will give the most bang for your buck. The versatility of this lens cant be beat, great for photos and video both. I have used mine for vlogging and a lot of sports photos. The only issue I have is it adds a lot of front end weight but its overlooked in my eyes for the other benefits.

So versatile, great first purchase

Jun 4, 2017

The b&h store in NYC, I was persuaded to buy this lens instead of the kit lens on the Sony a6000. For my niche, travel photos, this lens is amazing. It still has the potential for a low enough f stop to create cool focuses, but can get wide frame shots as well as dramatically zoomed in shots. Love it so much, the colors are beautiful

JUST THE FOCUS

Sep 28, 2015

I put it in my Sony NEX-VG30. It's a good lens, is sharp, light weight, good in low ligth with the settings in manual, good construction but the focus is the reason what a don't give 5 stars. The autofocus isn't good, you need used it in manual. Is't a good lens if you put all the settings in manual. It's a good lens for the price.

Great Lens

Dec 21, 2016

Picked this up a few months ago when I moved over to Sony from my Cannon 7d. Overall construction is solid and image is sharp. Love that its a constant F4 throughout the range. My only issue is that the zoom is a bit touchy so if you're going for a smooth zoom during a shot, it takes a good bit of practice to get perfect.

Awesome everyday lens

Aug 9, 2016

This lens has an incredible range. Fast Focus on my a6300 though I'm a manual guy. Shooting on a crop sensor makes this lens 27-157mm which is perfect for any shooting need. Traveling, street, landscape, portrait, anything, this lens is an all around workhorse. Tough as nails too. 1 big and 1 small fall and still perfect.

Low Light Efficiency

Dec 2, 2016

I used this lens at a dance rehearsal days ago. I found the zoom capability very easy and in low light was able to shoot at ISO 3200 at a shutter speed of 100-125, without a flash and still have great photos, because of the larger diameter. The optics on this zoom are much better than my other zoom lens of 55mm-210mm

Very happy with lens

Feb 14, 2017

I am very happy with this lens. I had tried the Zeiss 16-70 lens and the one I got was very sharp in the center third but the sides were soft. I returned it to B&H and bought the 18-105 and find it is superior and only 2/3th the cost. Plus has a much larger reach. Read the reviews of both lenses before purchasing.

Versatile Walk Around Lens

May 23, 2016

Have been using the Zeiss 32mm f/1.8 as the go to lens but finding it somewhat limiting in travel photography. After reviewing various online reviews, decided to get the Sony 18-105 f/4. It is a step up to the kit lens in terms of quality and decreases my frequency to change lens thanks to the wide focal range.

Great choice for excellent pictures

Aug 17, 2016

I have only taken a few pictures around the house. They seem clear and sharp. The zoom works well and is very quiet. It is larger than the 16-50mm that I received with the camera, but feels good with the A6000. I intend to make it my walk-around vacation camera. I am happy with the purchase for the cost.

For my work...

Apr 24, 2017

I got this lens ever since it was out and I use it on my A6000. Its compact enough, sharp enough, fast enough and most important sturdy enough. I have traveled over 20000 km with it and 0ver 6000 km on my motorcycle through real rough weather, from sea level to 18,000 feet. No complaints of any kind.

Nearly perfect for the FS5II

Apr 5, 2019

Not sure why I didnt buy this along with the FS5II. Once I had it, I wonder how I got along without it. Switching lenses from the 24-70 to the 70-200, no motorized zoom. I should have bought it sooner. F4 is the only bummer, but the camera is so clean that bumping up ISO is not a problem. Love it.

A Sony Sleeper

Nov 5, 2015

This is an underrated lens. I enjoyed it's versatility, it produces vibrant and sharp images. At f4.0 it still allows for great images. If you're thinking about this lens, it's an easy decision. Buy it! Additionally, don't be concerned about the size of the lens, it balances well with the a6000.

Awesome lens for The A6300 for The price

Jul 7, 2016

This is a great lens, great range, decent aperture of f4 throughout the whole lens and a great combination with the a6300. The only downside is the electronic zoom and focus which is not as fast and versatile as you wish but for the price this is a great lens for APSC cameras. Really happy.

Incredible Lens for the Money

Apr 13, 2016

I have to say that I have had nothing but great images with this lens. It is extremely sharp on the long end and the bokeh is nice at F4. It focus fairly fast though it does hunt in low light. That I think is more the camera than the lens. Images are great if you have the money get it.

I'm using this lens with a Sony a6000. I bought it to replace a lens that wasn't compatible with the camera. I wasn't sure about the power zoom, but I really like it, plus you can manually zoom if you want too. It is sharp. I haven't had it too long, but so far it has been great!

Dec 12, 2016

This is my first lens purchase apart from the kit len(s). I own the 16-50 & 55-210 included with my A6300 body purchase. I spent way too much time researching lenses and decided this lens with the 55-210 would satisfy 99% of my needs/wants. With this lense being my primary lens.
