Fits my requirements for a great travel camera!

Jun 18, 2018

I have a Nikon D90 and love it but when I'm traveling it requires a lot of extra space and weight. Read many reviews and literature on features and personal experiences with "travel" cameras which led me to this camera. I'm still learning about all the features but am feeling more and more comfortable with it. The zoom is amazing and love that it also has macro capibilities. Will I still use my Nikon? Absolutely! Will my back be happy not carrying all the extras when traveling while still having the ability to capture great shots? Absolutely!

Be Different-Buy a Lumix. Leica Lens Does Make a Difffernce

May 8, 2017

I have owned this for several months and still have not really utilized all the features of it. Guess I am a late adaptor. however, the favorite feature of this new camera (I have an older model that I upgraded from) is that the burst feature reall works great!! Love it! The 3 shot bracket is something I could not do fast enough with my older Lumix. I am getting used to the color balance and may adjust it to match the balance of my older Lumix-which took the best pictures of the world! I never had this adjustment on my older Lumix.

Yes! Its actually an upgrade form the FZ200

Sep 19, 2016

I use it for recreation and vacations. It's easy to use and takes Great pictures. I get lots of compliments on how great my pictures look. This camera gives you many options on how you want to take the picture. I upgraded because of the wifi feature. I can now send my pictures directly to my iPad and them send them on from there. Soooooooo many options: too many for this space. Truly - you can't go wrong with this camera. I've used bigger and far more expensive cameras professionally and I only use this one now.

Great camera, if the owner's manual is read

Jul 20, 2016

This camera is really well built, and has a great lens. Macro and telephoto shots both come out really well. Haven't tried video operations yet. There is tremendous flexibility available, so I found it very important to read (and reread) the owner's manual. Having said that, the camera is very intuitive and has several different ways to adjust important settings on the fly. In less than a week I feel right at home with it. Taking pictures via my smartphone though the camera's Wi-Fi is very cool, and easy.

What a wonderful kit!

May 24, 2018

The entire kit from B&H (camera, lens, carrying case, battery, charger & memory card) turned out to be better than expected. I have it with me constantly. Along with the FZ-300, I also have the FZ-1000. The 300 is smaller than the 1000, which makes for a camera that's a pleasure to carry around, use on a hike, etc. As for picture quality, both have excellent results. They have similar menus, with the 300's being a little easier to navigate. All in all, this is one of the best purchases I've made in years.

Reliable and robust

Apr 29, 2019

I just bought the DMC-FZ300 for a long-awaited trip to Australia and New Zealand. For the most part, the FZ-300 performed admirably. I would give it high marks for being reasonably compact, ROBUST (rugged), and for RAPID auto-focus. Picture quality was in most cases very good. In rare cases, on long-zoom images, the distance scenery was a bit washed-out in color, with almost a bluish tint. I would strongly recommend this as a reasonably light-weight, portable solution for landscape photography.

Great for Travel and Wildlife

Jun 21, 2019

Image quality for stills and video is excellent. Lens is long enough for birding and is fast enough to provide plenty of exposure flexibility. I do not find the included case useful because I carry the camera in a case large enough for charger, flash, etc and wear the camera around my neck while taking photos. It is just light enough to be rest comfortably on your belly. I highly recommend a new user watch several of the excellent YouTube videos on the camera. It is very feature rich.

A Step Up

Apr 14, 2019

I got this to replace the FZ-200. I t seemed like a slightly better camera, and it has a bit of water resistance. I have a Canon 80D, and its an excellent camera, but this is smaller, its lighter, and it doesnt require changing lenses. The Canon will remain my main camera,, but the FZ-300 will definitely be the travel camera of choice. Great photos, tremendous range in the zoom lens, and easy to maneuver. This is indeed a great bridge between the larger SLR and the small pocket camera.

Great camera

Nov 27, 2019

After looking at lots of reviews, I chose this camera for my upcoming Africa trip. I wanted a good camera that didn't cost a lot because I wasn't sure how much I will use it after Africa. This camera is full of wonderful features. I've taken some beautiful pictures, mostly in the iA setting. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because, for a beginner like me, it's a little complicated to figure out. I never could figure out how to send the pictures directly to my phone.

Excellent in all respects for a small sensor

Jun 11, 2016

For travel and birding this is an excellent choice due to the fast f/2.8 lens at all focal lengths. 4K video is supported but I don't shoot video so can't comment on that. Ergonomics are excellent. Menus are detailed and do required some learning. Options for Fn keys make the user experience easy once you get them set to your liking using the three Custom settings. AF is very fast. Images are clean up through ISO 400 and ISO 800 is good in reasonable light.

Very versatile camera

Sep 6, 2017

A little bigger than I expected ( I call it my fat camera). I keep in raw shooting mode - the JPEGs just can't match my Fuji cameras. Tracking focus and face recognition are very good. Burst shooting at 12 fps for about 30 shots is great. Took movie of hummingbird at 240 fps, could see wings flapping at about 5 per second. Stabilization very good - I can shoot handheld at 600mm at 1/60 sec. Overall, for a small sensor superzoom, this is a bargain.

More a Video Camera

Aug 30, 2018

Small chip means a long zoom. The larger pixels on this "low resolution" 12MP chip are good for low light video, but not so great for stills. Bokeh is what you'd expect from a small chip and "cheap" lens, but that lens will get you up to 600mm at f2.8. Lens flare is ugly, not a camera for creating "fine art". Why did I buy it, because it's smaller than the 500mm I used to lug around just for wildlife. For what it is, it gets five stars.

Improvement over the FZ200

Oct 19, 2015

If it wasn't for dropping my FZ200, I would never had known what I was missing. This is really a nice camera. It is a bit bigger than the FZ200, but the features ... I won't repeat what others have already said, if you have the money I would recommend that you buy this one. Also got the FZ1000 at the same time I got this, but at this time have only used the FZ300. Will review the 1000 once I put this camera down to play with the other.

Great point-and-shoot camera with all (?) latest features

Jul 31, 2017

I like this camera. There are a number of features (maybe standard, now) that I was pleased to discover. In particular, the pre-trigger mode (4K continuous mode; it keeps recording images and then, upon shutter-button press, saves the last second or so plus a little after the press) is potentially great (haven't had hummingbirds to photograph, so I am still hoping for good results). Also the pinpoint autofocus mode.

Makes me feel like a pro photographer!

Nov 1, 2018

This camera takes wonderful pictures in its intelligent photo mode. I do not have the tech know how to use manual mode but I know how to frame good pics and with this camera I can do magic!!! The zoom is fantastic! It is a big camera but it is lighter than a DSLR! FYI, I have carried my husbands Nikon 700 with 16x zoom attached and it is a work out! I am very happy with my purchase and B&H Photo costumer service!

I would buy this project again

Dec 18, 2016

I use this product for various things: portraiture, street photography and video recording, mainly. I like it. It is very responsive and the quality is good. I've owned this camera's predecessors, the FZ200 and the FZ100 and this one feels more solid and responsive. For the price and for what it does and has (including multiple exposure, which its predecessors didn't have), it's really great, the best out there.

Excellent

May 9, 2016

I take pictures all the time and I can say that this is an excellent camera. I have Sony A65 and pictures I take with FZ300 are compatible. May be you can get better picture with DSLR and couple thousand worth of good optics but for non professional photographer this camera represents fantastic value. I highly recommend this camera. Battery life could be better. I can take around 400 pictures using viewfinder.

Travel Camera

Mar 11, 2016

I have been debating purchasing a super zoom travel lens for my dslr, and had the opportunity to try one out, I did not like the total weight of everything, so I decided to give this a try on our next vacation. Playing around with it, seems like it has alot of potential to be a great travel camera!! Lightweight, but with a dslr grip, it makes it possible to take single hand burst shots, or quick candids

Superb camera

Jul 30, 2018

The camera is a rock star! Well designed menus, and flexible configuration options make this an amazing camera. Leica lens contributes to beautiful images. But the real star is the customer service on the phone. Thanks to thoughtful, knowledgeable discussion with Hymie, I was able to find the camera that makes me happy without feeling like I was being rushed or steered into something not right for me.

Not as good as previous Lumix iteration.

Oct 1, 2017

I am a wildlife photographer. I previously had a Lumi FX 200 and loved it. The lens is still great but the camera itself is excessively complicated to use. I've had it three months now and used on one long Kenya safari. Still can't figure out even some basic functions. Too many menus. Simpler camera with fewer features would actually make it easier to use. I'm a photographer, not a computer nerd.

A Monstah Lens. A reasonable price.

Nov 29, 2018

This is a great, light, extended zoom point and shoot that for me, is the complete package. No need to pack extra glass and although I would like more mega-pixels, there would be the price increase with it. Im not a pro, so what this computer provides is more than adequate. About the only extra lens I would get would be the .7 wide angle adapter. Did I say great price? Read the instructions!!

My Favorite Camera

Aug 25, 2016

I've had Canons, Fujis, Oly's, Sonys and became addicted to the Lumix brand with my GH2. The FZ200 was the best bridge camera around for my needs until the FZ300. I absolutely love it. The lens is exceptional; the weight is ultralight; The AF is accurate and lazer fast. My FZ1000 is weather proof and has more MPs but it's substantially heavier and doesn't have the 300s awesome touch screen.

FANTASTIC CAMERA!

Dec 9, 2015

Image quility is clear, great photo's in low light, and fantastic zoom. This is the camera of cameras. The Megapixle count isn't as high as you'd like it, but it's enough to get fantastic pictures that pop, and are cropable if needed. The camera is a little on the large size, and you will need a carrying case for it, but the pictures are well worth it. I would def. recommend this product.

great all-around camera

Sep 27, 2016

purchased this to replace our Nikon d60, just got tired of the size and having to carry multiple lenses. Focus is extremely fast compared to my prior Nikon/lenses, images are much sharper, low light seems to be excellent so far too. really like the 4k shooting as well. menus are a bit complex, but it can just be put in auto mode and accomplish what most would be looking for.
