Nearly perfect
This is a handy little device. Plug-and-play, sounds clean - saves the headphone jacks on my iOS devices. The cable is a little awkward, though, and I find it hard to position this device out of the way. It is also does not boost output gain - max volume was the same as the headphone output. This simply attenuates the signal. The build quality is fine, but it does feel a bit like a toy. I also considered items like the iRig Keys I/O, but B&H had a deal on this item too good to pass up.

Excellent!
I needed some MIDI sounds that weren't on my keyboard and discovered that my old, long unused, hardware MIDI generator had a hum. I happily discovered some nice iPad apps, and also discovered plugKEY as a simple way to get the MIDI signal into the iPad. It works perfectly! I particularly appreciate that plugKEY has both standard 1/4 phone jacks and a 1/8 earphone jack.
