Kensington Expert Mouse Wireless Trackball

Update
Kensington sent me the new one. Yesterday I finally opened it up and installed it. It works perfectly except it doesn't connect via blue tooth and requires use os the wireless USB. The other problem I encountered this morning is that when I clicked on the mouse to wake up the computer...NOTHING...I had to unplug the USB and plug it in again to wake up the mouse...

Can't use. Software will not install.
The software crashes on install and after 3 weeks still have not heard anything from Kensington support. I sent in an email request and they told me to call. I called and they told me to send in an email. This is worthless to me if I can't customize the buttons. Right now I just have a paperweight. I would recommend never buying anything with the Kensington name.

Carpel Tunnel No More
When carpel tunnel syndrome threatened my mousing hand and thereby threatened my livelihood, I bought a 4-Button USB Expert Pro Mouse Trackball. I did my homework first. I have had mine for five years. When my TV media manager complained of a similar aliment I immediately bought her one and she too has found much relief. It is easy to install and easy to use.

Great Trackball! Love the Customization!
This trackball is a solid, well build, professional piece of gear. I use it with Pro Tools. It has helped me scroll much faster and has given me more control over detailed changes in parameters. I love customizing the buttons options. Very helpful when using a DAW setup. I have had issues with my wrists in the past. This unit feels very good on my wrists.

Nice features, works well but hurts hand
I bought this because every professional engineer/editor (music) I know uses it and swears by it. It's extremely functional but my hand starts to ache after a couple hours of use. This doesn't happen when I use my old Logitech trackball which seems to have better ergonomics. The Kensington puts my wrist at a bad angle that after time starts to wear on me.

What a Dream
It is better than the track ball that only caters to your thumb. All fingers get involved to take the pressure off your thumb. You can press a keyboard button which will slow down the pointer movement if you need to be more accurate - Big plus. I love it & I'm getting another one for work. It's worth every penny if you are on the computer a lot.

Gotta Lotta Balls
I love my 'dead rat'. Have used this product (or it's ancestors) since 1990 and just keep buying more of them for all my workstations. Super accurate, programmable buttons, easy to maintain. Of course, it always amazes people when I pull this out of my bag and set it down next to my tablet or laptop. No wrist pain after years of computing . . .

Kensington Expert Pro Mouse Trackball
This is my second Kensington Trackball. I had my first one for many years, and something went wrong with it. I ordered this one from B & H, and was very happy when it arrived quickly. I bought another brand Trackball, but just couldn't get used to the thumball. I spend a lot of time on the computer, and there's nothing like this trackball!

Works with Vista x64
This is the 2nd time I've bought this mouse. The first time I got it and the buttons were all wonky, it didn't work with Vista 64. After finding proper software, I purchased this mouse again, and was able to reprogram the buttons to work with Vista. Yay! (the software is called X-Mouse Button Control and is available for free download.)

Comfortable, smooth and fast.
I have several of the Kensington Expert Mouses. Everytime I use a a regular mouse, it reminds me of how much I love the Expert mouse. you never have to pick up and reposition a traditional mouse when you cant get to the edge of a page. With the Expert Mouse you just keep rolling the track ball until you get to where you want to be.

This is *the* trackball to use!
When I first saw the original Kensington trackball in 1987 or so, I thought no way! Once I finally grew up and started using them (and I've tried others), I am addicted. If they didn't last so long, I would have bought many more of them by now, but as it is, I've probably only bought 6 or 7 over the years. It's the best out there!

Easy on the hand
This is my second 4-Button USB Expert Pro Mouse - Trackball. I still use my first one and bought this one for my media manager. It eases here Carpel Tunnel Syndrome and makes her more productive. The set up is easy. The controls are easy. The ball must be cleaned on occasion and the dust must be cleaned from the ball receptacle.

Kensington Expert Mouse for Photography Post Processing
Graphic Design Professionals say this is the most accurate device for cursor control. I like it thus far and will be testing it soon for some new post processing efforts that require precise cursor control. Combined with my Macbook Pro Trac Pad, it gives my wrist time to rest. When I use it, I feel like I'm steering a 747 :o)

Comfortable and efficient
This trackball is great. I personally got it to increase speed and efficiency in Protools. The programable buttons are useful, and the smoothness of the trackball and scroll wheel make navigating a breeze, without having to move your hand. It is also great for small spaces that do not afford a mousepad to move a mouse around.

Seriously...
I like trackballs and I read that this was one of the best... but the feel of the scroll ring ruins the entire experience. I like the idea of the scroll ring and properly implemented it would make this a slam dunk. but the haphazard sloppy grinding and catching nature of its movement is so agitating I went back to my mouse.

Nice.
I love this mouse. Will not go back. It is easier on my wrist, has a small footprint compared to my mouse pad. I have dual screens and tracking across both of them is a breeze. It is a bit expensive, but worth the price. I used it for development and a get a lot of calls from our web department and graphic artists for it.

Historically and continually great!
I've been using this device for years. I work on multiple screens and the trackball is the only way I've found to quickly and accurately maneuver between them while getting consistently accurate results. I still have units from years ago. The only time I needed to replace one is when my kids used the ball for bocce ball.

Still working like new, 8+ years later
High School media program that purchased 4, 8 years ago - 1 went missing after a renovation. The remaining 3 are still working like new, so when the mice that came with our computers started having problems, 30 more were acquired. Students are sometimes slow to accept a different approach to what they consider the norm.

I would absolutely buy this again.
This does exactly what I need for my new 2017 MacBook Pro. I have the MacBook Pro attached to an LG 27 monitor, and have the Trackball's USB nano receiver in one of the monitor's USB ports. I can customize the Expert Wireless Trackball, exactly the same way I have the Wired Trackball customized on my 2010 iMac.

I have bought this product half a dozen times over the years
This is by far the best trackball every introduced to the computer world. Nothing compares. Kensington has been making them for a very long time and haven't had to change a thing. It's a smaller footprint and much quicker to get around. LOVE IT. I keep spares in case one dies or Kensington stops making them.

Where did it go?
It's a nice trackball, BUT... I have a 12-year-old Expert mouse that finally gave it last. I loved it, especially the feature that let me pop up a keystroke menu. New one is similar, with a scroll ring added, but my beloved keystroke menu is no longer in the software. Without that, it isn't worth the price.

Very nice device
I use the expert pro mouse 8 hours a day five days a week. It is easy to get used to, very comfortable and is very fast and accurate. I am somewhat of a twitch gamer and this holds up to mice once you are used to it. The programmable buttons are nice. Cons- loud clicks, scroll wheel could be smoother.

Inconsistent Production
The mouse has perfect functionality but lacks in model to model consistency where quality is concerned. I purchased this mouse to replicate an office setup in my home, only to discover that the scroll ring operation isn't nearly as smooth as others I have used. This was the case right out of the box.

Excellent trackball
Excellent trackball for the long usage period. You can rest the whole hand on this pointing device. Very comfortable, no more moving your arm like using the conventional mouse. All five fingers control the trackball actionOnly cons'point: during break-in period, the scroll wheel is stiff, resistant.
