Kensington Expert Mouse Wired Trackball

Saves my shoulder
I've been using this device since I've been using Macs. I've had 4 surgeries on my right shoulder and just using a Mouse is excruciating. The Trackball has always been a lifesaver for me, especially since I'm a photographer. This device and the Wacom tablet...yes indeed!

Good mouse replacement
I like the programmability of 3 of the 4 buttons. The only draw back I cannot find a back button function.

FITS MY LARGE HANDS
I like it because it fits my large hand and is customizable. I can swap it from one side of the screen to the other depending on what is more comfortable for what I'm doing.

The best mice I've used.
I have been using Kensington Expert Mice for almost 30 years, ever since I saw a graphics illustrator using one where I worked. Over the years I have been very impressed with the the quality and intuitive feel. The ball is about the same size as a billiard ball and is very easy on my arthritis. when my little finger started acting up, I just reprogrammed the right click to a different button. They are sensitive enough that when I played more game... Show More

I've been a fan for a long time
This is at least my third Kensington trackball. I've been using oneexclusively for at least 10 years, probably more like 20. I find it easier to use, ergonomically, than a mouse. At the moment I have two going simultaneously, one on my old computer, one on my new computer. Thrilled that I can get it wireless now! (P.S. Their tech support is great too. I'm very un-mechanical.)

Love Working with it Setting it up Was a Challenge
This is an ergonomic delight, so easy to use, so smooth and precise. I wish installation instructions were done to the same standard. I finally managed to get it set up on my Mac, and I like the software Preference Pane. It makes it easy to customize. It's a bit above similar Logitech software. Guys, you've GOT TO work on your installation manual it leaves a lot to be desired.

Great way to interact with the Mac.
I prefer using the track ball over having to move the mouse repeatedly to get the pointer from one screen to the next. Even without the drivers, I now have the middle mouse button that helps with Resolve and the scroll wheel is great for scrolling up and down.

Good until it broke... might buy another
This one lasted two years, until the left-click stopped working. I replaced it with a cheaper Kensington trackball, which lasted less than a year before the left-click stopped working. Im on the fence about getting another. I have mice that have lasted more than ten years with no problem, but mice are difficult for me to use over long work sessions due to carpal tunnel syndrome, so Id really like to get a trackball with some longevity. Replacing them every ~18 months is not ideal.

Comfortable, smooth and fast.
I have several of the Kensington Expert Mouses. Everytime I use a a regular mouse, it reminds me of how much I love the Expert mouse. you never have to pick up and reposition a traditional mouse when you cant get to the edge of a page. With the Expert Mouse you just keep rolling the track ball until you get to where you want to be.

Love my trackball!
This mouse with the extra large ball makes all the difference. Better control all around. Its comfortable and has many control options. I would recommend this mouse.

Already saving my wrist!
I adapted pretty quickly to the Kensington Expert Trackball. Wanted to try one in an attempt to save my myself from a RSI. Still have a ways to go for my ergonomics but its working great so far.

Good hardware, software a bit weak
The unit itself is very nice, the ball action is a bit slippery - it can tend to overshoot but maybe Ill get used to it. Software-wise, for those of us who have disabled Windows updates during the course of an Avid editing project (a wise move Im told) I have problems with the drivers. When I download the Trackballworks software one needs to program the buttons & adjust the settings the trackball stops working and Im told I need to update the dri... Show More

The Best Pointing Device Available
I bought one of these to replace one that was so old the label had rotted off. It had survived several systems and constant daily use. All the praise here from other users is well-deserved, as I wouldnt use anything else. The device is 100% standards-compliant, so it works perfectly with Linux.

Historically and continually great!
I've been using this device for years. I work on multiple screens and the trackball is the only way I've found to quickly and accurately maneuver between them while getting consistently accurate results. I still have units from years ago. The only time I needed to replace one is when my kids used the ball for bocce ball.

Kensington Expert Mouse for Photography Post Processing
Graphic Design Professionals say this is the most accurate device for cursor control. I like it thus far and will be testing it soon for some new post processing efforts that require precise cursor control. Combined with my Macbook Pro Trac Pad, it gives my wrist time to rest. When I use it, I feel like I'm steering a 747 :o)

Update
Kensington sent me the new one. Yesterday I finally opened it up and installed it. It works perfectly except it doesn't connect via blue tooth and requires use os the wireless USB. The other problem I encountered this morning is that when I clicked on the mouse to wake up the computer...NOTHING...I had to unplug the USB and plug it in again to wake up the mouse...

Complete garbage
First I have used track balls (magic mouse for years but the one I had finally dies a few weeks ago. I have had this one two weeks and called support 3 times. It went from bad to worse. Out of the box it was sticky so I blew it with compressed air and that worked for a few days, then it stopped working completely. Tech support said use the USB because it doesn't synch with MAC on Bluetooth although bluetooth worked great for the first week after ... Show More

Useful, user-friendly and powerful
The big ball makes it easy both to control it with accuracy and to spin it to move the cursor fast around the screen. The ring is a great help for scrolling. The 4 buttons allow several combinations to program commands. Very comfortable to use with the wrist rest.

An outstanding purchase!
I have nothing but good things to say about this. I favor trackballs for their precision in the first place, but this one takes the prize for best to use, after using quite a number over the years. The central ball makes it great to control, its very sensitive and as precise as I could need or want it to be. It also has a solid feel to it and good hold on the desktop to allow fingertip control without issue. Well worth buying another when this wears out!

This Mouse Changed My Life ... hard to believe?
Well, not this newest mouse. It just continues the benefits I enjoyed with my previous - identical - Trackball - for 14 years - prior to it finally giving up the ghost with a left button failure. :-( Was I ever happy to know Kensington still has them!! However, it was that mouse, and this new one, which continue to make my use of the computer possible. My father managed to "pass down" some nervous shaking in my thumbs that makes the use of a co... 15 Years and going
Purchased a new Expert mouse for a 2nd location. New model is stiff but, I wouldn't want anything else. I've been using my first Expert mouse for business use almost 20 years and will never consider going back to a regular mouse.

Big fan of trackballs
As a graphic designer that never got the knack of tablets - and as someone prone to carpel tunnel syndrome, I've used track balls for years. My latest one finally failed so I decided to try this Kensington model. It took a while to get used to the larger-than-normal ball but after a few days I find it very easy and natural to use - super smooth and highly controllable. The wrist pad is also perfect for the device, and I'm sure will help my sensitive wrists. It has four programmable buttons that will come in handy. The scroll ring is also good.

So smooth, it's almosttherapeutic.
I have this on my workstation next to my Wacom Intuos. I use the wacom for Premiere/After Effects/Photoshop, and the trackball for internet browsing and general computer use. For this purpose is really amazing. My favorite feature is the big scroll wheel, that makes document/web browsing so easy. Also, the software lets you set application specific profiles that come really handy. For example: On Adobe Premiere, I set it up so the top left button... Show More
