FiiO E10K USB DAC Headphone Amplifier

Perfect for a desk setup
I previously used the FiiO E07K with my laptop and loved it for several years. I recently purchased a desktop computer, and needed something to power my Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro full-sized headphones as well as provide a line out for my Bose Companion III desk speakers. This little USB DAC/AMP does the job perfectly. The rear micro-USB-in and rear jack line-out is ideal for a desk setup, and the front headphone port with convenient volume knob wor... Show More

I'm no audiophile but I can tell the difference.
Sounds great for my needs. Drives my Sony MDR-V6 perfectly fine. I am no audiophile but I can tell the noise floor is much lower, and my headsets sound a bit crisper when I had my friends do a blinded sound test. Another benefit is I can use a long usb cord to mount this device under the desk.

Made no difference that I could tell.
I purchased this after buying a pair of Hifiman HE-400 headphones and reading on numerous audiophile sites that I needed an amp to get the most of out of my headphones. I noticed no difference in a few days of listening between this amp on my Hifiman headphones and my Grado SR-80 headphones. The only justification I could make for owning this would be the much higher volume ceiling I could get. On my HP laptop, I have the volume maxed at 100 and ... Show More

Good but not Great
I think E10K is OK but not necessary great while using it with Audio Technica 50Mx 1) if all levels on the PC side are set to max, then the volume knob on E10K needs to be set to below 1! This means you either have to sacrifice the digital resolution or analog slew rate. Probably not a big deal, but not ideal. 2) it does nothing when I plug it in to a Android tablet (4.1). This should be a driver issue on the Android side. But it is an unfortunat... Show More

The E10K driver will likely cause your system to crash
Love the E10K sound quality, when it's working, but the driver supplied by manufacturer causes my Windows 7 PC to crash regularly. A couple of times a day at its worst. Many others online have encountered this same issue, and there is no real solution to be found

Solid compromise
This thing relativly cheap way to significantly improve your audio experiance. While not a replacement for good headphones, this thing manages to make my ATH M-50s sound incredable. While the audio from my computer may have been subpar and my smartphone obviously has issues cranking up the bass, the E10K allows me to listen to music clearly at high volumes without sharp noises or distortion. Most importantly, this seperates your listening experia... Show More

great little usb dac
Plug-and-play on windows. I haven't tried it on linux yet. I use it with some pretty good cans on a PC that was pretty noisy when using the soundcard. The little DAC vastly improves sound quality. Highly recommended.

Very nice
Windows 7 auto-installed the drivers for this device and made it the default audio device. When unplugged the Xonar D1 sound card again becomes default. Thus no back and forth to the Control Panel. The clarity of music with this device, with Beyerdynamic DT880 headphones, is significantly better than the output from the Xonar D1. I still use the Xonar card for speakers. There isn't an on/off switch so I unplug it when not using headphones. For ca... Show More

FiiO at it's best
I love this little thing. Mid range frequencies are lovely. Actually not bad with Sennheiser HD 600. No complaints!

Good value for the money, but...
It fails to live up to some of the glowing review I've read about it. Is it better than the onboard sound of your computer/laptop? Yes, most likely it will be an improvement, but how much? In my opinion it's not a major step up in sound quality over the onboard sound of my laptop....but I would say it's enough to make the purchase worthwhile.
