Faulty Image Stabilization System
Bought this camera and several Sony/Zeiss lenses in February 2015. On a recent trip the camera failed with the message Camera Error. Turn Power off then on. Unable to reset the camera and a Web search indicates that this is a common problem with this model and confirmed by Sony. Traveling the world with this Camera!
I've been traveling the world for over 6 months with this camera. It's been absolutely superb. Some paint is missing but no problems. Can't wait for 2 more years of it! I typically carry it with the zeiss 35/2.8, which allows it to be VERY light. I am blown away by the claims of horrendous battery life. What are you guys doing? Very poor noisy low light performance!
I'm not sure what's all the raves about the A7 series was about but after trying this A7ii for a day I returned it so quickly. My Canon 6D video low light performance at ISO12000 is MUCH cleaner than this A7ii at 6400ISO. It is unbelivably noisy at ISO10000. My hope was so high on this camera to replace the 6D for travelling and weight saving but....keep trying Sony, you're heading the right direction but still not there yet.

it's a toy, feels more like a PS video game than a camera
I want to start with that I do not own this product and only spent couple of hours, very limited time with it. Last 5 years I shot almost exclusively landscapes. This is an amazing camera. it is 1/4 the size of my Nikon D3 and packs a wallop in image quality. I am a professional photographer who is left wanting in Nikon's lineup of mirrorless cameras. almost perfect
I've used this camera for several trips and photo projects over the past five months. The image quality is excellent. Here are my overall thoughts: The critique that it doesn't have enough native lenses is less valid than it used to be. Engineering marvel with beautiful design
I sold my Canon equipment and initially I bought the Sony Alpha A7R, but I sold it as soon the new A7II was released with no regrets. This camera is as good as the new A7RII but at a more affordable price without the excessive memory/processing requirements of 4k video and 42 megapixel. No regrets
Much of this has already been said: great IQ, stabilization, ISO performance, size; not so great SD card slot door and menu system. However, many adjustments are accessible by a function button. This fit my need for better ISO performance in low light situations in a compact package. I shot with m4/3 for a while, but the smaller sensor had its limits for low light. I would suggest skipping a zoom lens and going for 1-2 good primes. The zooms are big and heavier, which I was trying to avoid with this camera. The 3.5mm f/2.8 is worth every penny - small, light and sharp.

This is my very first professional camera that I have. I start to take pictures around town then I take this A7 II with me while traveling. For the last summer, this A7 II works really well. Problematic dust issues and horrible support
First I would like to point out I have had several issues with the sensor and dust. It was sent into Sony (under warranty) back in May for another sensor issue and returned improved but not satisfactory. It also cost me about $400.00 because some how they claim abuse. Aliasing in video
I wrote a previous review. In using the camera more, I found unacceptable levels of aliasing in the videomoir was sometimes severe. The sharpness of the video was good but not all that I hoped. I returned the camera. B&H, as usual, were very helpful and accommodating.

We are looking at the future and it looks bright!
The good and great: I bought the A7II to replace my aging D700. I wanted something that would give me the quality I am used to with My Nikon equipment and was lighter. The A7II delivers. It is well built, highly customizable. Once you get used to the EVF you wonder why it has taken so long to be added. Great camera
I love this camera. Great images, crisp and I like the live view monitor and everything mirrorless offers. Also can use old legacy lenses on it. Battery power could be better but you just need to buy more and but a charger. One thing I'm confused about is if it has high speed sync. The specs states that it does but I don't see the option on the camera.

I was ready to upgrade to full frame (currently own a Canon 70D) and considered the Canon 6D and rumored Canon 5D Mk IV. But ultimately I have decided to abandon Canon all together and move to Sony! I've had this camera for three weeks. I'm primarily a video maker but also wanted a camera that could make good stills. I bought the a7II because it has in-camera image stabilization, which makes it possible for me to shoot hand-held video with my old (and superb) Leica and Nikon lenses--and also to shoot stills without a tripod at longer shutter speeds. Nice rig!
This camera is small and very light, but the build is exceptional and it handles well. It's also a pretty camera with retro styling and a compact, solid feel. The video is great. Not so with my Canon 6D which was fairly expensive in 2013. The clips are pro quality, without artifacts--primarily moire--that plague my 6D. This is a superb camera. It's well-made, has great image quality, useful features, and works with well with adapted glass (e.g. Leica M mount). Factor in the price, and it's hard to beat. Bravo Sony. Pushing the envelope
How can you dislike a full frame 24MP sensor with stabilisation? You can't, there is nothing out there like it. The reasonable price and compactness make this product very unique. For perspective, I have had both the A7R and still have a A7S. There are very few lenses that can keep up with A7R, the FE55mm can and perhaps the newer FE35mm in the line up. I purchased this camera to replace my Fuji X-T1 because I wanted to go full frame and didn't want to go back to Nikon. Everything about this camera was unintuitive and annoying. This camera is great for landscape shots and portraits. I am using with a Metabones adapter and Canon EF L lenses. AF works on some lenses and not so well on others, but Manual Focus is very easy with this camera, particularly if you turn on the peaking level which highlights areas in viewfinder that are in focus.
