Fabulous monitor
I use it with my early 2008 MacPro 3,1 model. I bought a video card on eBay specially to use this monitor with this machine. Note that the video cards to use 4K monitors with these old MacPros do not show the OS X boot screens at the time of writing, even if they've been flashed to do so, because this monitor's DisplayPort and HDMI interfaces are too up-to-date (so I keep my old monitor handy near my desk just in case). Nonetheless, it's a fantas... Show More

Almost always well satisfied with B&H
I am writing about the difference between the LG monitor I bought with B&H Order #1058661815 versus the one I bought with Order #1054381873. Although they are similar, they are not the same. I thought I was reordering to have a matching pair, having clicked the model number in the older order and finding the price roughly the same. I must not have noticed that I was routed to a different model number. One curious issue is that Windows 10 ... Show More

Great monitor - I would buy again.
I have a late 2016 MacBook Pro 13 with the touch bar. I wanted to get a 4K display with USB-C connectivity, and hated the look of the LG 5K display that Apple sells. This one is a very attractive display that looks far more integrated with the Apple design aesthetic than many other displays. By no means am I a display expert. I looked at equivalent displays from LG, Dell, and Samsung, but felt this model had the best mix of features, reviews, and... Show More

Works out of the box with 2016 15 MacBook Pro!
I was looking for a monitor to go with my 2017 15 MacBook Pro with touch bar. I didn't think it would be that big a deal until I started doing research and realized there weren't that many options because of the USB-C drama. I decided to go with this monitor because everyone said the cable is inside the box, it charges the laptop, it has split screen abilities and the matte (not gloss) screen. I spend 8+ hours a day on a computer and never though... Show More

Great color and features. Beware of signal through docks.
Using the monitor with both a PC (Surface 4 Pro) and a Mac (iMac and soon a new MacBook Pro). The monitor color is excellent and I am running it at 3840 x 2160 resolution with no issues. The monitor has a number of inputs and downstream outputs that makes it essentially a hub as well which reduces clutter. The one issue I have is with the Surface Dock for the Surface 4 Pro. I have to turn off the power saving on both the monitor and the Surface 4... Show More

Great for MacBook Pro
I really like this monitor for my MacBook Pro. The setup was plug-and-play and I can tell this monitor was built with Apple in mind. Great picture and great color. My only gripe with this monitor is when my machine and the monitor go to sleep, the monitor has this really annoying beeping light, and the only way to get rid of it is to shut the monitor off. Other than that, everything is great. My favorite feature is the ease of scaling, and ever... Show More

Not thrilled
I'm not thrilled with this monitor for a variety of reasons. The mount has the monitor sitting crooked - several degrees from level from left to right. Given the size of the monitor, this imperfection is pretty noticeable. I was stuck not being able to use my monitor with my ~2015 MacBook Air for awhile because the (many) cables included with it did not include one for the Mac's Mini DisplayPort. I had to buy an aftermarket adapter to w... Show More

Great build quality, amazing picture
Usually I never comment on items I buy but I wanted to share my story of finding a monitor. I have owned the version 68 of this exact monitor and to my surprise it is different in more ways then just the USBC AND USB 3 in the back. 1. The actual screen and bezel are different from the 68 version. I will also say the blacklight bleed/ips glow on the 68 was way worst. The 88 has barely any bleed. 2. The better stand makes a huge difference from the... Show More

Great Monitor for Mac Pro!
Beautiful crisp color. Snap together assembly. Good build quality (aluminum stand), nice styling - small bezels and white back great for seeing connection ports), adjustable height and tilt. The later is really great after the set height of an iMac or macBook. Very fast with Mac Pro system. Instantaneous redraws for 3D modeling. No lag for digital painting (zero brush display lag even on large docs with many layers, painting with a complex r... Show More

so far, so great
I've had the LG 27UD88-W on my desk for 2 weeks now and I have nothing but good things to say. I love the thing bezel. The screen itself is clear with rich colors and I do like the semi-matte finish. It plays well with my 15 2016 MacBook Pro. I find that it does actually keep the battery charged IF the 15 MBP if the battery is already at 100%. I haven't done much testing, but when the battery was partially drained the USB-C did not have enough ju... Show More

Gorgeous display but issues connecting to 2018 Macbook Pro
The display is gorgeous now that I have it working properly. Images are crisp, colors deep and beautiful. Extremely detailed at 4k. Much nicer than my old Apple Cinema display (circa 2010) that I loved but finally died. Big issue was I could not get the display to work properly with the supplied USBC cable. It worked for about a day or so and then wouldn't work at all - the Mac simply stopped recognizing it. Tried all kinds of things including ot... Show More

Doesn't work anymore after only nine months!
Bought this exact model in used condition (which looks like almost new without any tiny problem) for $494.95 nine months ago. But, unfortunately, after just nine months of light usage, this LG 27UD88-W 27 doesn't work anymore. It's very hard to turn on the monitor. If it gets turned on eventually, it only shows the white strips of noises. Out of luck, my six-month used item warranty was expired. Talked with B&H and confirmed that they could not d... Show More

Prosumer Monitor
For those having 1920x1080 MAC problems, you will need to go in System Preferences and use the option key + scaled to force the computer into 4k 4k is technically not a Computer Monitor Resolution and that is why most MacBook will default to its optimum 1920x1080. And at that resolution this monitor is by far SUPERB. Color, quality, brightness, Contrast, dynamic range etc are all premium quality. Best for Photo Editing and Video Editing. I use ... Show More

So Far, So Good
Im using it on a 2010 MacPro with updated graphics for using Mojave. The new monitor certainly is an improvement over the 21 Apple Cinema monitor I was using. It has good resolution and the factory calibration is a bonus. It is huge and crowds the space it has to share with my other monitor. LG insists that one use its cables, and it includes lots of them, but they are short, which inhibits monitor placement further. The other downside is the joy... Show More

A stop-gap solution for me
Bought it to pair with my new MacBook Pro with Task bar. Works well with UBC-C connector and supplied cable but will not keep the computer charged. It does try to do that, and the computer displays the charging icon, but the internal computer battery slowly loses power, going to nothing in less than a day's work. Thus need to use the Apple Power brick also. Otherwise, a very nice high-resolution screen. Oh, and the back is a glossy white plastic.... Show More

Set up instructions need improvement
Great monitor so far. It comes with multiple cables, which is great. However, they are not all labeled, so its hard to know what they are and what they do to determine if you need them. Plus, the parts diagram included in the instructions show images of the cables, but they are not labeled either. I looked at YouTube videos of the install to learn more about the cables, but none talked about the specific cables. I went online to the manufacturer ... Show More

This is an excellent monitor
I originally purchased this monitor from B&H last year to use with my MacBook Pro 15. Wanting and actually needing to attach 2 monitors of equal quality and price for my work with photoshop cc and an online course in photoshop I had to have 2 monitors with independent screens. I first tried a lower priced model hoping to save a few dollars. It was a disaster. The obvious in resolution quality was striking. My original monitor portrait colors and ... Show More

Nice. Reverse the cable if your MacBook doesn't charge
Nice enough monitor for times I need a larger one with my MacBook Pro 15 with Touchbar. Couple of things to note. 1) If your MacBook looks like it is charging but actually loses power you need to reverse the cable. Yep...no lie. It will work. This keeps my MacBook Pro 15 charged without issue 2) If you are powering the new MacBook Pros (2016) the other USB ports will drop to USB 2.0. LG 27UD88-W27" Monitor Review
Bought this under recommendation from sales staff. Instructions are too simplistic...had to download manual from on-line support website. Bought this to work on photography but find that it is too contrasty and colors are overly saturated. Image is very sharp and it can be displayed horizontally, vertically, and raised or lowered to custom needs. Still haven't figured out the sound part...am now listening to the sound through my computer until I can figure out how that works. Would suspect that those who are computer savy will have no trouble tweaking this to work.

WOW! Better than expected!
I originally purchased a curved screen 27 Samsung and just was not happy. I am using the monitor mainly for working on databases and spreadsheets and just could not stand the screen not being clear. So I returned that monitor and purchased the 27 UHD 4K monitor and the difference right out of the box is amazing. The USB-C is great as well. I only have to use one cable and no adapters for my Macbook Pro 13. The power remains at 100% all day no matter what I'm doing on it. It also comes with the USB-C cable.

If you put it next to a new iMac, you might be disappointed
Pro's: It is extremely lightweight and attractive. The display, when viewed in isolation, is excellent. Cons: I use this as a second monitor next to a 2017 iMac and.... it ain't the same. By comparison, the LG cannot achieve anything close to the brightness of the imac. It also appears a little washed out by comparison. I'm guessing that when used with laptop, one would hardly notice the deficiency. But if you but right beside an iMac, it's borderline distracting.

Everything I wanted for work and more
This monitor is great. Im an engineer and regularly work on projects for work at home. This monitor is perfect with my MacBook Pro. One cable handles charging, video, and usb. I now have it mounted on my desk. The vesa mount works wonderfully with it. I havent had eye strain nor any issues technically. I recommend this monitor to everyone but I havent used any of the feature associated with gaming so I cant speak to that.

Love my new LG 27UD88 4K monitor
Best monitor I've owned, by far. 4K is crisp and clear and the color is well saturated. Blacks are amazingly full. I use it with my iMac and the usb-c connection is smooth. Also, LG supports Mac OS beautifully with their latest OnScreen Control app with Menubar icon. The stand is excellent with easy height and tilt adjustments. Well done, LG!

I was really enjoying this monitor for the first month I had it. Just such a treat to use. But as of recently the screen started flicker, only a little but quickly got worse. I wouldnt think it would be distracting but it totally is when youre editing photos. Previously I wouldve recommended this monitor. Now Im not so sure. . .
