LG GRAM17
I'm not a tech guy but I use my laptop for work daily for many hours. I think the LG Gram 17 was a good choice for me due to the screen size and incredibly light weight. The weight was deciding factor for me so I can travel with the laptop with ease. What I am not in love with is the keyboard. Somehow my words always miss being spaced so I must go back and correct that. I wish they were raised more and enter key & space bar were larger. I expect I will adjust to it over time. After 6 weeks I still have a problem with spacing words.

Update on the Linux Mint Install
I previously said everything worked with the switch to Mint Correction: the fingerprint reader does not work out the box with Mint. Apparently, it will work with Linux core 4.2. Not something I care for but something to note. Also, upgraded RAM to 40 Gig by replacing the 8 Gig stick with a single 32 Gig stick. Stress tested it by opening large files, running Windoze 10 and XP in a two VM's and a gazillion applications and browser tabs. Consumed more then 33 Gigs of RAM in total and the Gram did not blink! Very happy with it.

Wow! Amazingly light/compact.
Wow. Thinner and lighter than I could have imagined. What is the coolest is this 17 inch laptop fits in my camera bag.

My Second LG Gram
Having been so very happy with my LG Gram 15 I wanted this new larger size as well. This one is fast, quiet, cool, and very light just like the 15. However losing the touch screen is noticeable and the only reason for the reduced rating 4 stars vs. 5 stars.

Very Nice Machine for Linux
Completely wiped Windoze 10 the moment I got the machine and install Linux Mint. Everything worked from the get go. After prior experience with Ubuntu on a custom Linux machine I thought there would be some hoops to jump through. But, there were none whatsoever. Nice screen and light as a feather compared to the cinder block I carted around before. Could do with more RAM but have not looked at raising it yet. 32 Gig would be nice but the max possible seems to be 24 Gig.

Extremely light workhorse
Extremely light, 4 core i7 u CPU, gorgeous and large 17 2560x1600 16:10 screen that is fantastic for productivity. I haven't pushed the battery yet, but I imagine it will last for a solid 10h+ during normal office type work. I recommend swapping out the internal M.2 SSD for a faster NVMe model, like the Samsung 970 Pro. The laptop offers another M.2 slot with 2x NVMe lanes for an additional drive. Be aware that it's a pain to remove the bottom ... Show More

Lightweight, and powerful.
I bought this because I was thinking the best laptop is the one you can actually bring with you. This is super portable in terms of weight. The size takes some getting used to, although I'm not complaining. The screen is gorgeous and huge. I use this for lightweight 3D animation, python programming and machine learning projects on the go. Without a dedicated graphics card 3D is limited, but the portability makes up for it. Only slightly heavier ... Show More
