High quality DAC, but still a few things to work out
I have been using the thunderbolt for about a month now. I had to return the first one I received after one week due to a faulty headphone jack. The new one has been going strong for the last three weeks. Each time I plug the unit into my mac, there is an audible pop that comes through the headphones and the reference monitors that are connected to the unit. Clean sound, good software interface
I'm using this interface as a step-up from an Apogee Duet 2 because I needed more inputs. I also purchased the Focusrite 8PreX for comparison. Both units have very good sounding mic preamps, but I ended up keeping the Element 88 because it takes up so much less space on my desktop. In fact, since it has no physical knobs and switches of any time, it doesn't take up ANY room on my cramped desk. I have it stored on a lower shelf underneath the desk... Show More
