Sony Studio Monitor Type Headphones

Sony MDR-VR Headphones
These closed over-ear headphones are fantastic. Second pair I've owned in the last few years. They are very well built and the price makes it the best option IMO. Go get a pair!

Great for Live Sound
Use these at church to monitor out of sanctuary feed. Good isolation and fairly flat response. I like the small package they fold into. I have used these for over twenty years. The ear pads last about five years.

Still The Best
I used Sony MDR-V6 headphones for 10+ years as a radio personality. When I launched my podcast, I knew I wanted some great headphones. I tried just about everything I could get my ears on and came right back to the MDR-V6's. Clean, solid, sound and always comfortable.

Still produced for a reason
These headphones produce balanced sound from quiet to loud. The screw in mini-1/4 adapter prevents losing the adapter in the board. I have used these for monitoring channels and mixing tracks in a DAW.

Great
I use this for gaming in conjuction with my Turtle Beach PX5 amp. These sound better than the px5s when used with the amp. I got these headphones due to the low lows and high highs. I am thoroughly impressed with them. only downside is that I have to be creative because these don't have a mic. I love blasting music with these on as well.

Great sound
These headphones are great. The sound is amazing! They are very portable and lightweight. The build quality is ok, I don't expect them to last for years.

Excellent affordable headphones
Very well balanced high quality sound from affordable, light and sturdy headphones. I wish Sony had kept this line alive... While I mostly use these to enjoy music in a quiet environment they also perform very well on an airplane since they do block out some noise and the great sound is still audible. My only negative point is that I find they exert a little too much pressure just below my ear but this is a personal issue. Highly recommended. AM.

All you need!
People spend way too much on headphones for silly reasons, like style, popularity, and so forth (Beats) when here you have something for 1/4th the price that produces perfect results. I have used these as a sound mixer on set and post and couldn't be happier with the comfort and results. I even take them out around town sometimes, though I'll admit the extra long cord can be a bit silly at times when walking around the city (though the length of ... Show More

As good as I remember
On on my third pair of these beauties and can't find anything remotely close on quality for this price. The pads will wear out and flake in about 1 year but you can get velvet replacement pads that fare much better. I have a pair of these anywhere I am, home, office, etc.

Great Headphones, Compact, Comfortable
They have a 20 to 20000 hz range ( i think ) They fold up nicely, they flex and don't seem to get broken easily. These are my third pair in 25 years. The last ones got lost, ( and found again ) I now have 2, but don't regret the purchase.

CLASSIC!
I use the V6's mostly for setting audio levels in the field and for editing video back at home. Amazing clarity and sound quality. There's a reason these headphones have essentially stayed the same since they came out in the 80's. And for under $$ you cannot find a better headphone!

Wonderful Headphones
I already owned a pair of Bose headphones and thought they were terrific. Then, after reading many reviews on different audiophile sites, decided to give these a try. B&H had the best price and delivery, so I bought without hesitation. These headphones are AWESOME! To me, they produce much better sound than my Bose, at 1/3 the cost! I'm not an expert audiophile, and my hearing is diminishing due to many factors, but I can easily hear all the diff... Show More

Great Phones
These phones are great. Time tested great performance. Just make sure you test them as soon as you get them. I have had a pair that had a defective phone. It crackled a bit on low notes. But B&H quickly replaced it with a good pair.

Sony headphones - Can you buy happiness?
My intial listening trials ended with some disappointment. The mid range was a bit shrill at high volume. Then I turned off my equalizer. Wow! My Sony MDR-6 studio monitors were now kicking out uncolored flat sound. How many superlatives can one think of between Ah and Zowie? They haven't been off my head since. Wearer's fatigue: zero Delighted with these venerable old cans and would recommend them to anyone. Con: The only issue I have is the coiled cord. It is not as tightly wrapped as my old Sonys and it gets easily tangled with itself, usually with me in it.

Yes Yes
These headphones were recommended by a B & H employee, as excellent headphones at a reasonable price. Sound is excellent and price is reasonable. Appreciate the recommendation, B & H!

Clean sound, durable, and comfortable
This my second pair of these headphones (first one died after many years, left speaker blew and it wasn't worth it to me to repair it at the price range). They have nice clean sound, flat frequency response, comfortable fit, and durable build. My only recommendation is to replace the ear-cushions it comes with - the included pleather ones are crummy and flake easily. Amazing sound!
I purchased the Sony MDR-V6 headphones to replace my aging Sony MDR-V4 'phones, and they are worthy successors indeed. More comfortable (larger earpads), better build quality (design and materials), and most importantly, great sound: richer, cleaner, and with more presence. The depth of sound is amazing. One apparently unique design feature: the ear pieces are cocked forward at a slight angle to match the typical ear placement on the human head, ... Show More

The standard for headphones
Very accurate sound and comfortable. Has a long chord also. Great for video production, folds up to save space.

excellent combination of whiz and bang
I use the v6s for casual listening and gaming mostly. The v6s are better and cheaper than almost every other pair I've tried. Before I had these I listened to music mostly with a pair or monster lil' jamz, which had a slightly basey bias which is very silly for a pair of ear buds, the v6s are beyond comperable. They work very well for gaming as well because of their excellent sound stage reproduction. I have only two issues. First, my ears are ab... Show More

Great Sound, but was pressing too much
The sound and build are great, but for me I couldnt have it on for more than an hour or so at a time, because it hurts my head. I returned it.

clean, comfortable, and accurate
I use these for video and sound editing, and they sound very good. They block out the surrounding sound surprisingly well and are available for a very good price. I definitely recommend these.

A Classic, Still Shines!
These headphones have been sold by Sony since before digital recording, but the quality and sound fidelity is quite good. I don't think you can get 'phones this good at such a low price anywhere else. Get them while Sony still makes them.

Comfy and travel well.
These headphones are super comfy. They fold up easy for travel and can take a beating. The cord is long but still manageable for daily ipod use. They also sound great! I play my music too loud in public. With these, I don't disturb anyone because they don't put off any sound when you're wearing them. They are nice and big to fit over my whole ear, which makes the sound more encompassing. Love them!

I buy this one simply because it is not bulky. I am a wedding videgrapher, use this one on my pro camcorder to monitor what I am recording on my camcorder.
