Good sound quality - Can’t hear your self

GOOD - Really crisp surround sound. - Downloadable app allows you to customise sound, really easy to use. - It’s comfortable and compact. - Battery life is decent allowing for hours of gaming BAD - You find your self shouting and can’t hear your self very well due to lack of voice feedback (Side tone). - charging cable is very short but the controller cable is compatible. - It’s not compatible with the PSVR when you want to use both.

These headphones are great quality. Very comfy and the surround sound is definitely up there with the best of them. For the Argos price I payed I have a bargain. Already I have reqamended to my friends. Ya just can't go wrong. Or maybe a fool to miss out!

Very good

The headset is very good for the money, yes you can pay more for premium headsets with preset sound modes but these do a good job of delivering quality sound and chat and are so easy to set up.

I’m amazed

Sound and build quality second to none. Absolutely amazing. I have watched three movies and played a few games with them and let me tell you, the 3D audio and 7.1 surround are mind blowing. Deep, clean bass and much better highs and lows compared to the cheaper alternative. I finally took the plunge and bought these after my THIRD Gold/Wireless 2.0 headset (in two years!) snapped at the hinge. These, in stark contrast, are of a heavy and comfortable build with no flimsy hinge. A+ love them.

Great sound

I bought these for my son for his PS4 as his other set gave up the ghost. They are a bit expensive ,but i guess you get what you pay for. The sound is crystal clear and my so said they are very comfortable . Happy son = Happy mum :)

Astro A40 TR or Sony? Impressive clarity and 3D soundstage

Summary: Sony PS4 Platinum Wireless headset has great sound quality/very clean, balanced (in terms of mid-highs-bass - not too bassy), very resolving (tiny details are easily heard), with a truly 3-dimentional soundstage that makes its overall performance way above its price range. IMHO, we are getting a lot of bang for a little bucks here. If you like details: here is the "what is so good about Platinums" part explained (and some comparison... Show Mores to Astros A40s). To give you an idea of my background, I have been using Astro A40s for ~7 years with all kinds of consoles and I love them. I have multiple pairs with a few generations of MixAmp including latest TR edition (both PS4/Xbox). NOTE: I personally don't like Astros A50s due to many reasons so I never bought them but A50s would be a better model to compare to Platinums, btw. Also, one of my hobbies is evaluating and listening to audiophile grade headphones (Beyerdynamic T90 & others, ADL, B&O, Shure, etc.) so I have hundreds if not thousands of hours of experience with good and bad headphones and can tell one from the other in about 10 seconds. I used Sony Platinum with PS4 Pro and also with ADL X1 portable music DAC/Amplifier (directly), to evaluate headphones w/o wireless connection. So here is my first impressions (few weeks of usage) of comparing Sony Platinums to Astro A40s (I know, A40s are wired so it is not quite apples-to-apples). Sounds quality. IMHO, Sony Platinums has arguably a bit better sound quality - less distortions, and overall cleanness of the sound. Astros are by no means far behind or too different, but there is a difference (Sony sounds a bit cleaner). This holds in both wireless and direct connection configurations. I was also particularly impressed that such good sound quality could be delivered wirelessly (yes, direct connection sounds better but still). Soundstage. Sony Platinums wins by a significant margin here. They deliver exceptionally well in this area (with Virtual Surround mode on, of course). More surprising to me was that even with regular music the instrument positioning was fantastic. During gaming sessions, it was easy to tell where sound was coming from; having great resolution (each separate sound is easily discernable, even the quietest ones) helped as well. Comfort. Astros are a bit more comfortable to me, but Sonys are not bad either; I used them for 4-5 hours at a time without any feeling of discomfort. They are light enough and do not clamp my head - feel "just right". Features/ergonomics/integration. Two main controls "Mute" and "Sound Volume" were easy to find blindly (back of the left cup) so no complains here. Integration with PS4 is fantastic: volume changes/mute evens are displayed as a popup so it is easy to confirm; also there is a dual tone beep (low tone for "mute" and lowering the volume, and high tone for the opposite). Portability. Much smaller when folded (Astros are a bit bulky to me). Also, I often take PS4 with me when traveling and carrying around Astros with all the cables and MixAmp was a bit annoying (I know what you think lol...). Having only a small USB stick and the headphones makes the whole setup of Sony Platinums very fast and easy. Price. Hey, I paid ~half of the A40s price for Platinums... Considering great overall performance/features, Sonys did extremely well here, IMHO. Negatives: I need to charge battery every two days... (they last for about two days of gaming for me). I know, A40 is wired so it obviously wins here by a large margin... lol. Conclusion: I loved every bit of using Sony Platinums (except for the need to charge it :-)). Since I bought Platinums, I only use A40s with Xbox, but not with PS4 anymore. Overall, highly recommended, no matter your budget.Show Less

Headset feels good

feels comfortable Sound quality is decent signal to ps4 you will need to get an extension cable as i found out with my friend the sound may blip signal quality may decrease i have a whole house WiFi and i think it has caused my issue test the quality of the adaptor

Sony Gold

My family are all heavy pc gamers, The Sony Gold headset is meant for PS4 but like almost all USB based headsets is plug n play for pc even though descriptions don’t always specify. The headset is a little hard to the feel and the ear cups are not the biggest but the sound is excellent. Internal mics mean no issues with boom mics going wrong and the almost unique headband adjustment is also more robust and better than other designs. A comfortable superb headset for high use gamers.

After the 1st use, I lost the sound quality.

Sadly after using this item once, I couldn't hear myself talking to fellow gamers online. Kept asking me to turn off sound tone, which I successfully did using the pdf manual of the Internet, but still had no joy resolving the issue with the headset and in the end I had to take this back to my local Argos store and exchanged the item for a PS4 Gold Wireless headset instead and this works brilliant.

Great headset sound is so clear the build is good

The Surroundsound is unbelievably good the first person shooter games you can clearly tell which direction the shots come from. The build quality is much better than previous versions of the headset the only negative thing I’ve found is it is a squeeze on the ears but this may be as it’s new I need to wearing I would imagine fantastic headset would recommend to all

5* for everything Fit lovely and comfy over the VR Two sound options, we always use number 2 for the extra bass. Clear, crip sound and great for party chat while playing. Definitely recommend.

Great sound for budget headphones

I bought these as a budget pair of headphones just for gaming. I found that I was able to use these with other devices. The virtual surround sound is great but only works on PS4. Other devices you attach the headphone jack that comes with it so useful with phone. Ok bass, great trebils and mids. These are wireless and are pretty easy to setup through the PS4 headphone companion app. if your looking for range forget about it as I could only get about 15-20ft away before the headphones cut out.
