Nice lens, perfect for scenery
I purchased this 1635 lens to use with my a7r3. This is a perfect match and it suits shooting sceneries and landscapes. Cannot wait to try it for the milky way.

Great contrast, super sharp
Great lens. Very sharp and contrasty. Not hugely different than other brands except that Sony makes the sharpest lenses. No Optical image stabilization though and for such an expensive lens it would have been nice. I prefer internal zoom as opposed to ones like this where it extends when you zoom in and out. I believe Canon makes an internal zoom 15-35 but then again their 70-200 is external. Regardless, it is hard to argue with the IQ and final results. They are amazing

Fantastic Lens, especially in low light
I had the 16-35 f/4.0 and it was a great lens. I needed something for more low light situations so got the f/2.8. What I found was that it was better than the f/4.0 even wide open (at 2.8 vs. 4.0).

SHARP!!
This lens is incredibly sharp, and much lighter than I expected it to be. Great lens for not only landscape and Astro, but also travel walk-around photography as well.

Amazing Landscape Lens
I've been very satisfied with this lens. It's sharp, fast, great autofocus. I prefer having the f2.8 even for landscape to get great foreground blur and and good for portraits at 35mm. This stays on my camera 90% of the time. The weather sealing seems to be legit as I have had it in some pretty rainy conditions. I appreciate the 16-35mm range which makes it more versatile than the tamron equivalent. It's expensive but I feel that the price is worth it to gain such a versatile and high quality lens. Easily the best landscape lens available for Sony alpha bodies.

GM lenses are best
Prefer the image quality on this lens better than my Batis prime 25/2.0; Sony has nailed the bokeh and overall image quality on the GM lenses, including this one. Highly recommended.

Sharpest Lens I Own
I shoot with mostly Cinema Prime lenses, but needed a lens I could quickly change focal length. This lens is actually sharper than similar prime lenses. It's also a lot lighter than a prime (Zeiss CP). Excellent light transmission (equal to T2.9).

As good as it gets
Yes its expensive, but if image quality is important to you then this is the best there is for the Sony e-mount system. No regrets for spending the extra to get the g-master and for the shooting I do (sports, outdoors, adventure etc) the f2.8 comes in very useful over the f4 lens option.

Focus and vignetting issues
Wouldnt autofocus reliably initially, this progressed to point I gave up on autofocus. Then started blacking out upper right, lower left corners. All of this randomly. Turning camera off, removing batteries, all off the basic standard computer equipment moves to fix glitches to no avail. Occurred midpoint of vacation to Icefields Parkway. Lens not purchased through BH Photo, love them. Should still be under 1 yr warranty but just barely so hopefully Sony will be able to fix/replace. When it does work properly it takes excellent excellent shots. Very sharp, focused well throughout pic .

AWESOME LENS!!!
I debated for quite a while about which lens to buy first and I am completely happy with the choice I made. I shoot a lot at 16 mm, but it is very nice to have the flexibility to zoom in a little when needed. It is worth every penny
If you want a zoom lens that is sharp with snappy autofocus that has quality written all over it. Look no further... You just can't go wrong with this lens. I currently carry this lens with me for street and wedding photography/ videography and I am honestly in love with the image quality that comes out of this beast. There are two things that actually worried me before purchasing: 1. No OSS / 2. Weight. All I have to say is, there was no need for me to worry. This lens works perfectly smooth on my DJI Ronin S.

Incredible Lens
Disclaimer: I upgraded from a Nikon D3300 with a decent 35mm Nikkor lens to the Sony a7III with this lens. Needless to say, it's not a fair comparison and I'm absolutely blown away by the upgrade. I'm a semi-pro portrait/event photographer and amateur landscape photographer. Great for travel
This lens is a perfect match for my a7R III. I got a good copy that is sharp in every focal length. I hiked tens of miles with it in Glacier NP and I did not feel it a burden at all.

If you are buying this lens, you should already know its use
I have recently watched a video on youtube about why this lens was not a good buy, but if you have a need for a multi-purpose lens and you need it to be brighter than 4.0, then this lens is for you. I have owned the G Master 24-70 for a while now and I have been very happy with it. I can't say the price is not very steep but it is. If the world was perfect, I would love it if the 18-105 was full frame and 1.8 but is not.

Cant get the corners to sharpen up at all
The left and right third of this lens fall apart even at higher apertures. Everyone seems to love it, so maybe I just had some QC problems.

Great Lens for Backpacking Landscape Photography
Often the landscape photographer has to pack in to remote areas to get the desired photo. So weight from extra prime lens carried isnt enjoyable over the long haul. This lens is fast and sharp (see attached photos). It is a great complement to the A7RIII. I specifically bought this lens to have versatility and speed. In the first photo I hand held that image at 1/20 shutter speed to get the break in the clouds in the canyon before the clouds closed up. Didnt have time to switch lens or set a tripod. Ill let my two examples illustrate to quality of the product.

Must have travel lens
This is perfect travel lens if you like to take photos of buildings, architectures, and some wide shots at 24 mm with portraits at 35 mm. Great camera. Add this with either Sony 50 mm f 1.8 or Sony 85 mm f 1.8 you will be pleased. Needless to say about its performance and build quality.

Exceptional Lens
Mounted this onto my Sony a7rIII when in Iceland. Captured all the drama, texture, and color of remote waterfalls and volcanic fields. Crawled thru some caves and it sucked the light and color into the body without the use of flash. Its remarkable.

5 Stars -Great Lens for Real Estate Photography
I love the lens. I use it for real estate photography along with the 12-24mm. I bought this for outside shots so I can use a polarizingfilter. When it comes to photography it is amazing. However, when this lens is on a gimbal and no face is in the frame it hunts for focus way more than the 12-24mm. It is not horrible, but it is a little annoying.

16-35mm f2.8 GM is worth the money
I traded up from the Sony Zeiss 16-35mm f4 which is a good lens. I wanted the f2.8 and the better edge performance for astrophotography. I also have the 24-70mm f2.8, the 24mm f1.4 and the 100-400mm. The GMs are pricey but I really like using them with the a7riii.
