Great camera for all around uses
I was searching for a point and shot superzoom weather/dust resistant camera with a viewfinder (in addition to the view screen on the back of the camera). Apparently that is a unicorn, but the Lumix DMC-FZ300 is very close... not quite to the superzoom level, but significant - the lens goes from 25mm-600mm (equivalent), and meets all my other requirements. It performs great is a wide variety of situations, simple to switch from stills to video an... Show More

Great performance & value
I'm really happy with my FZ300. The zoom, image-stabilization, low-light performance & MP4 capabilities are terrific features. To me, it hits a sweet-spot of higher-performance than basic point&shoot cameras without the (much) greater cost of a DSLR.

Great Camera
I love this camera. It comes with great directions, thus easy to follow. I have taken some really great pictures. Each day I am learning more and more about my camera and its capabilities. I highly recommend this camera.

Make sure you fill out the PDF file to extend the warranty
Have had the camera for 2 years and the movie feature doesn't work. I was told that since I didn't fill out the pdf file there is nothing they can do. My bad. It does take good pic's. Just check the movie when you get it.

Great camera
Second LUMIX we have had - very good performance at attractive price point- would be five star except for less than stellar set up instructions - highly recommend

My new camera
So far so good. Takes getting used to, a bit different from my last camera. The shots I did at a concert turned out great! I still have lots to learn about the camera and the DVD that came with it is useless for me as I have no way to view it.

Even better than the FZ200
I bought this well-reviewed camera during the November sales period to replace the former DMC-FZ200 model that had met my needs for scenic and wildlife photography since 2013 but was no longer able to extend its lens some time after its most recent hard knock. It appears to have the same great Leica lens that can keep a wide f2.8 light-gathering aperture over its 24x zoom range and the same-size 12 Mpixel sensor, but with improvements that includ... Not as good as the FZ200 - images not crisp
6 years ago I bought a Lumix FZ200 which was surprisingly good. The image quality was beyond my expectations and continued to be so until I accidentally dropped it. It was never the same after that, even after servicing, so I recently decided to replace it with the FZ300. After a week of testing, I have sent it back due to the soft lens. This seems to be a common problem based on forums I have read. I want clear images from the standard settings ... Show More

Great camera
After looking at lots of reviews, I chose this camera for my upcoming Africa trip. I wanted a good camera that didn't cost a lot because I wasn't sure how much I will use it after Africa. This camera is full of wonderful features. I've taken some beautiful pictures, mostly in the iA setting. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because, for a beginner like me, it's a little complicated to figure out. I never could figure out how to send the pictures directly to my phone.

As an amature only, this camera so far has done more than I expected. The 4K photo feature is amazing.

Great for the naturalist
Terrific camera that does a little of everything quite well. Excellent macro at 600mm allows you to capture butterflies and dragonflies without scaring them. 600mm f2.8 lens gathers plenty of light to keep iso low to minimize noise which every small sensor will give you. Autofocus is remarkably quick enough to capture low flying swallows against a blue sky. Trying to follow them in the viewfinder (which is excellent by the way) will test your pat... Show More

Packed with Features
Now that I've had my camera for some time, the only negative thing I've noticed is the lag and hesitation of the zoom when pulling back from long zoom. For those of you who bought this for video, that could pose a bit of a problem. Aside from that, this a nice bridge camera, needing only one lens that has a constant f2.8 from wide to telephoto, a plus for both still and video. There is alot this amazing camera can do. It takes some time getting f... Show More

Great for Travel and Wildlife
Image quality for stills and video is excellent. Lens is long enough for birding and is fast enough to provide plenty of exposure flexibility. I do not find the included case useful because I carry the camera in a case large enough for charger, flash, etc and wear the camera around my neck while taking photos. It is just light enough to be rest comfortably on your belly. I highly recommend a new user watch several of the excellent YouTube videos on the camera. It is very feature rich.

Battery life is abysmal
I've had this camera for about 8 months. Picture quality is fine, and I like the manual focus and EVF, but battery life is unacceptably poor. I have a Panasonic battery and a Watson battery and neither will give me 100 (probably more like 50) no flash still shots after being fully charged (I never take video) . I use the viewfinder only, have set every feature to increase battery life, and leave the camera off unless I'm actively shooting. You ge... Show More

One of the best bridge cameras
When my DMC-FZ200 died recently, probably due to a sandstorm, I decided to upgrade to the FZ300 after comparing to the Sony RX10 IV. While the latter is an even better camera, it also costs more than 4 times as much, and for my purposes, was too heavy. As with the FZ200, the FZ300 has an incredible zoom range that you can use without ever being forced to a larger F stop as you zoom. That lets you shoot at faster shutter speeds, because more lig... Meets my expectations
Ive been shooting with the FZ200 for the past four years and love that camera, but after much use and abuse, I needed a new camera. I almost pulled the trigger on a mirrorless, but after analyzing my personal style and needs, I chose the FZ300. Its similar to my FZ200 but definitely upgraded. Its a great travel and hiking camera giving me the ability to go from capturing a wide angle landscape image to zooming in on wildlife in mere seconds. No need to change lenses. So far, Im loving this camera and cant wait to dive into all the features available.

Excellent travel & hiking companion
Light weight, large viewfinder, improved reaction time and focus speed and seemingly improved lense. Worthy upgrade to DMC-FZ200. Consider this camera as a birders delight. You will get pictures you never thought possible.

great travel camera
After 1 month we loved this camera so much we decided to also the FZ80 to allow for longer zoom. Overall it is very easy to get used the basics and get some great photos and video. For the price it is amazing.

Reliable and robust
I just bought the DMC-FZ300 for a long-awaited trip to Australia and New Zealand. For the most part, the FZ-300 performed admirably. I would give it high marks for being reasonably compact, ROBUST (rugged), and for RAPID auto-focus. Picture quality was in most cases very good. In rare cases, on long-zoom images, the distance scenery was a bit washed-out in color, with almost a bluish tint. I would strongly recommend this as a reasonably light-weight, portable solution for landscape photography.

Great entry point to 4K
I needed a compact camera for a traffic safety project that involved a couple interviews inside cars. This worked great, plus it shoots in 4K and high speed. Heres final project: https://youtu.be/xRAUDyOcBe4

A Step Up
I got this to replace the FZ-200. I t seemed like a slightly better camera, and it has a bit of water resistance. I have a Canon 80D, and its an excellent camera, but this is smaller, its lighter, and it doesnt require changing lenses. The Canon will remain my main camera,, but the FZ-300 will definitely be the travel camera of choice. Great photos, tremendous range in the zoom lens, and easy to maneuver. This is indeed a great bridge between the larger SLR and the small pocket camera.

value and versatility
Purchased this camera because of previous satisfaction with Lumix pocket cameras. This one is terrific with its 25-600 zoom and sharp Leica lens. Ive used it many different situations and am pleased with the results . What a value for the price!
