5 Stars Just for Existing, but Nothing's Perfect
Consider a 25mm - 600mm F/2.8 lens for an SLR. The very fact that this camera exists, albeit with a small sensor, is amazing and easily earns this camera 5 stars. There is no similar camera to consider in this category. I also owned the prior model, the DMC-FZ200. It was great. This is much better. Once turned on, this camera has the performance of an SLR, or perhaps better. I don't recall ever getting 12 frames per second from my old EOS 50D. Ac... Show More

Hard to beat for the price!
I professionally shoot video for weddings and events, and have been needing a decent 4k camera to upgrade some of my older 1080p cameras. I have loved using a Panasonic GH4, and this camera packs all of the features I love most about a GH4, plus some extras. The Wi-Fi control capabilities excel in Panasonic cameras, and this one is no exception. I can shoot a multi-camera event solo using the FZ300. While operating one camera, I can have the FZ30... The best camera for wilderness photography I have ever owned
Sure there are cameras for ten grand with lenses you can change for another twenty grand that is vanity equipment for the owner's ego. In the jungles of Central America, I am in run-and-gun mode. I am not about to risk toting 20 grand of cameras and lenses in the extreme environments where I work. When I'm working, my assistant is not a photo assistant... He is my jungle guide, cook, medic, camp manager, and friend... My man Friday! He takes care... Show More

Great bang for the buck!
I've used APS-C and Full-frame DSLRs for a long time now, and only occasionally would use a pocketable compact. The difference in image quality kept me packing the big guns with their big lenses. The big problem is that a decent 500-600mm lens for those systems is heavy and expensive (been there, done that). Often I looked at superzooms wondering if they'd just be a lot of reach with a mushy and flat image as the result. In fact, I tried out a Ni... Show More

One of the best bridge cameras
When my DMC-FZ200 died recently, probably due to a sandstorm, I decided to upgrade to the FZ300 after comparing to the Sony RX10 IV. While the latter is an even better camera, it also costs more than 4 times as much, and for my purposes, was too heavy. As with the FZ200, the FZ300 has an incredible zoom range that you can use without ever being forced to a larger F stop as you zoom. That lets you shoot at faster shutter speeds, because more lig... Packed with Features
Now that I've had my camera for some time, the only negative thing I've noticed is the lag and hesitation of the zoom when pulling back from long zoom. For those of you who bought this for video, that could pose a bit of a problem. Aside from that, this a nice bridge camera, needing only one lens that has a constant f2.8 from wide to telephoto, a plus for both still and video. There is alot this amazing camera can do. It takes some time getting f... Show More

One of the best bridge camera
FZ300 only got a really tiny sensor. It is no good for low light performance. It is comparatively difficult to achieve shallow DOF. For these reasons, somebody may simply ignore this camera and conclude that people shouldn't buy it. I always say that a review is some kind of opinion that after experiencing, but not just an opinion through imagination. Yes, the FZ300 is having those above weakness points. Once you understand that, you may avoid us... Show More

Great travel camera
I picked up this camera literally on the way to the airport for a birding trip to Costa Rica, so had no time to read up on or explore all the features and adjustable settings before the trip. I was looking for a long zoom bridge camera for under $500 and B&H had the FZ300 on sale for the price I wanted - perfect timing! The sale included a 32GB memory card and a case - a really good value, and everything you need to start off with. Since I had no... Show More

Quality Photos Outstanding Specifications and Features
This is my 3rd bridge super-zoom camera & 2nd Lumix. I consider myself a Prosumer or advanced amateur. Anybody can pick up this camera & shoot great pictures in the Intelligent Auto mode and never venture beyond that. It can handle most any movie recording tasks. I like it because as a hiker it is relatively compact and light to carry. The combination of the long zoom range (600mm) & no need to carry extra lenses makes this camera a good choice ... Show More

Excellent Product
I gave my FZ200 to my grandson and bought the Z300 to replace it, since I was so pleased with its predecessor. The FZ300 is a solid update with several new features that are very useful. The FZ300 is slightly larger and therefore better equipped for a person with large hands. So, I seldom now inadvertently press the wrong buttons with my right thumb. A huge improvement for me. The FZ300 also has a touch screen which allows one to change settings ... Show More

Costs about a single 190 Ah LI-Ion batt for pro cam
This cam costs roughly the same as a 190 Ah Li-Ion batt! I've been shooting with high end 2/3 and larger sensors cam and those costs 10-30x for over 20 years. After using it for a day I can say that it's a great general point and shoot cam under ideal lighting conditions. Do I worry that it'll make my 2/3 and Super 35 cams obsolete? Not at all. This will complement my shooting needs and it will not at all take away from the main cams. It has a us... Show More

Great Multi-feature Still/Video Camera
I was pondering between the FZ1000 and this smaller sensor FZ300. But Panasonic was over-protecting the GH3/GH4 camera, so they tried to make the FZ1000 impossible to mount a quick-released tripod plate fearing some poor filmmaker could use it for professional work and eat up the market for the higher end GH 4 ??!. For me it's a Stupid decision ! So I must settle on the FZ300 with a lesser sensor, with a better bootem plate, so I can attach a Sim... Show More

Even better than the FZ200
I bought this well-reviewed camera during the November sales period to replace the former DMC-FZ200 model that had met my needs for scenic and wildlife photography since 2013 but was no longer able to extend its lens some time after its most recent hard knock. It appears to have the same great Leica lens that can keep a wide f2.8 light-gathering aperture over its 24x zoom range and the same-size 12 Mpixel sensor, but with improvements that includ... So Far I really like the FZ300
I am just a Hobbyist Photographer, I have always used mostly Bridge Style Cameras. I have tried a DSLR but they are so bulky and you have to have different lenses and they get expensive. I wanted a camera with a Good Zoom that does Video and has a Flip out Articulating Screen for Selfies or just awkward spots that you need to tilt the screen to get a good shot of something. This Camera seems to fit the bill of everything I was looking for. I have... Show More

You had me at Leica lens..........
I wanted a small camera to take with me on vacations or hiking adventures.....I was tired of hugging my beloved Canon 6d and lenses around. I was unsure of whether I wanted a small point and shoot or a bridge camera. I tried the point and shoot first ( a highly rated one) but was unhappy with the results. I called BH to talk to a sales person about two different bridge cameras (a Canon and a Sony). After I told him my requirements: a long zoom, W... Show More

Very good for adv. super zoom
I have been the happy user of a FZ200 since it came out a few years back. Now that price is coming down on the new model and its a mature production run I decided to upgrade. While it is very familiar, the new features make it really nice. Touch screen, view finder, button layout, faster & more accurate focus, improved stabilization and weather sealing all add up to significant improvements to me. Its still a small sensor but they have managed so... Show More

Solid video modes and good photos
I bought this camera as a 4k video solution to expand on my gopro hero 4's as b cameras. My main camera is a red scarlet dragon and use it for just about everything including my wedding and events. Why not right? But I need something that could shoot 4k video and was super small and could respectfully match footage to the Scarlet Dragon. This camera does that well enough that I'm happy with it. It has great autofocus but not the best in low light... Show More

Battery life is abysmal
I've had this camera for about 8 months. Picture quality is fine, and I like the manual focus and EVF, but battery life is unacceptably poor. I have a Panasonic battery and a Watson battery and neither will give me 100 (probably more like 50) no flash still shots after being fully charged (I never take video) . I use the viewfinder only, have set every feature to increase battery life, and leave the camera off unless I'm actively shooting. You ge... Show More

pleased: product, price, service
Im still getting a feel for what the camera can do, but Im very happy with it thus far. The price for this kit (which gave me everything I needed to get started) was, I feel, very good. The camera, battery, charger, bag, memory card, and cable could, of course, be had more cheaply elsewhere, but Im very wary of the deep discounters you can find out there - and there is more than good reason to be wary. This camera is basically a cell phone camera with better ergonomics, lens, and features. Sensor is about the same size as the Galaxy S7.
